This d-core without Hughes there would be one of if not the absolute worst in the league. The defense should be an absolute priority for upgrading if we want any chance in the playoffs.

I agree. And I see a lot of fans online saying they should fire Tocchet. As if a coaching change has done any good.

The aversion to calling timeouts is so bizarre. Every other coach calls them, and so often you see it totally shift momentum.

I usually think Drance is more on the critical side of the Canucks, but this time, he seems to give the team more of a pass than they deserve - 3:7 to the Oilers (and that game was more lopsided than the score), 0:6 to the Devils, and 2:5 to the Islanders should not constitute to one-offs anymore. What I am concerned with is that the intangibles from this team seems to be missing this year. Last year, on the rare occasions that the team is down, there is always someone who would step up, deliver a big hit, score a momentum-changing goal, make a jaw-dropping save, etc. This year, when the team is down, they just continue to sink and have no response, no push back. That is very concerning if you are a Canuck fan...

Couldn't agree more. We have no push back.

2 things 1. Can't break out of own zone effectively. 2. Too much dump and chase nonsense. Until those 2 things change, this team is going nowhere.

You're going to have ups and downs, both in season and between seasons. Last year, they were dynamite at home. This year, they're great on the road so far. I agree with Thomas that they're probably better offensively this year, but they had a lot of puck luck in the first half of last season. I'm more concerned about their back end.

At this point in the season Canucks rhymes with "sucks" and the fans are starting to get very unhappy. Last night was a C game effort, and when Tyler Myers gets only the second goal ---- while the 5th highest paid player in the NHL Elias Petterson continues to be a huge disappointment --- things are real bad. Rick Tocchett actually apologized and said he was outcoached by Patrick Roy. If that's the case, then maybe that's an admission that Tocchett can't motivate this team and they need a new coach.

Yea I couldn't imagine dropping 300 hundred bucks for a piss poor performance. That is why I never go to games in the first place, I'm not spending that much for a bad experience

They got embarrassed by Carolina, New Jersey and now, Long Island. All on home ice too. LOL!

And oilers beat them 7-3 on home ice also. All were blowout games

I like you both, Donnie and Dhali but with all due respect --- your guests like Thomas Drance always downplay the Canucks situation because otherwise he will get blacklisted by the team. Not once did he say the name "Petterson" and get into a critical discussion of how bad this guy's stats are, and why his huge contract making him the 5th highest paid player in the NHL was a big mistake. He should be scoring goals and making assists and be in the Top 50 right now, but he's way down at #172 on the NHL Skaters Stats list. This is unacceptable and I don't see him getting much better, which seriously hurts the team.

I said when I first laid eyes on Petterson that he wouldn’t make it in this league.Total waste of time and huge money that you’ll never be able to trade.It’s a Louie Erricksson syndrome what a phenomenal waste of money.And the price I have to pay to watch this crap is astounding.
@douggarden9 сағат бұрын
@@polarlab113 Petey obviously can make it in this league; but just at the price he is worth, which I'd say realistically is about 7mil per year. the fact that he's making $11 per year doesn't change what kind of player he is, it just shows how much this league has ballooned with profits, and its spent unwisely by bias GM's. .....but who cares right?? they don't pay that much for mistakes,,,,the fans do, as they always have.....FANS FUND THE ENTIRE GONG SHOW, AND WOULDN'T EVEN CONSIDER A BOYCOTT.....THAT'S THE REAL PROBLEM
@polarlab11312 сағат бұрын
Well now what a supreme let down that game was.truly amateurish.I was at the very first game that the Canucks played at home in the NHL.I’m 71 now and I have never switched off the tv more than I have this year.🤮I am resigned to the fact that we will NEVER see a Stanley cup in Vancouver.🤮one of my favourite players is Garland but he’s hanging on to the puck too much for too long and not getting in front enough.PASS THE PUCK FOR JESUS SAKE.one of my least favourite players is the skinny guy wearing number 40.who is that guy?😂😂he’s invisible out there
@douggarden9 сағат бұрын
i'm with ya...been watching the canucks since 77, I swear to God this team is cursed...I've also resigned to the fact this team will NEVER win a cup. really hard to point a finger to why, but it is what it is. adding to that....every decade that these players and owners make hundreds of millions of dollars, the sickness of money eats away at the love for the game. #40 is a perfect example. before the big bucks, Petey was just a young guy playing the game he loved. As soon as contract talks came around and then the wopping contract making him the 5th highest salary in the league; it f**ked with this kids head. now he figures he has to be at least #5 in points or he's not worth it. It's so obvious to see how this has totally f**ked with his psyche, and he has forgotten to just "PLAY THE GAME OF HOCKEY THAT YOU'VE LOVED SINCE CHILDHOOD"
@blackhawks976314 сағат бұрын
Another answer is, Pettersson is NOT worth 11.6 million. By that logic, guys like Hughes are worth 13-14 million.
@polarlab11312 сағат бұрын
EP 40?he’s too skinny and can’t play at this level it’s right in our faces.this is a Louie Ericksson come home to roost.You can’t get rid of that stupid contract.Hope the bosses like that one …..a lot😂😂😂

i'm so sick of watching the inconsistency of this mentally weak team.....been watching them since 1977, and i can't remember such a pathetic effort EVER. this team has a serious attitude problem ... and for the love of God dump Myers...he is so toxic for this team. if you just count how many times the puck goes from Myers stick to the opponents..it will SHOCK you

They have too many too small players. go thru the line up it sucks they get outskated and teams pound them relentlessly.
