I think the "staying within yourself" - going slowly at first is my favorite tip. I'm already playing around with ideas for like 8 different mixes, and while that's a good thing to do with my time while I build up my client base (testing the products out) I know that I'm investing too much time doing stuff like that (and watching youtube videos lol) and now just getting out there and growing the business (forcing myself to "hit the pavement" in 2 days...wish me luck!)

Thanks for the great video! I grow other organic produce and I am starting my own small business. I recently decided to include microgreens, because I really wanted to eat some the other day but they don't have them anywhere for sale near me. I am so motivated by this video!

Fantastic. These are so useful - especially 13 and 21! Unfortunately we live in an apartment block & don’t have a garden or space at home even for 1 rack so had no choice but to rent an unused storeroom in the city (Edinburgh). On the plus side plenty potential customers in the inner city and it’s also easier to comply with planning and food safety regulations.!

I love them all! Favorite is every variety of KISS. I'm starting with coir because I'm really comfortable with it. But I expect to go to soil. I'm also really big on symbiosis, so will most likely end up incorporating my compost (pasteurized) into the growing medium. I'm having great success with my starting trays. I've been gardening my entire life, so this is all very natural to me. Love your help! Thank you!

Awesome I love to hear this, great work!!! KISS is so important, everyone makes everything so complicated but most things in life can actually (should actually) be really simple!
@gohabs98 ай бұрын
you should save your compost for your garden, theres really no advantage to the microgreens in having the compost. The plants are harvested so young that they really dont need the supplemental nutrients, they have all they need in the seed, and only need supplemental nutrients once they grow beyond micro stage. your symbiosis can happen as you add your spent trays to your compost and consider adding rabbits or chickens to your setup.
@DonnyGreens8 ай бұрын
Yes I have 8 ducks and I am composting out in the back now!
@dreen79118 ай бұрын
@@gohabs9 I already have chickens and rabbits. And goats and cattle and horses. 😂 And worms... We're a full on homestead or symbiotic micro ecosystem. From what I've been learning, some additional nutes increase the harvest by ten to twenty percent. 🤷 I'm certain that I will learn more as I do more. Also certain that I will make mistakes. I'll learn more from the mistakes than the successes. Peace!

Thanks for a great video Donny! Question.. if unable to get to farmers market how to get clientele? I really want to reach my local community
@DonnyGreens8 ай бұрын
Farmers Markets are definitely a great way to do that. You can also use social media and local food stores

When it comes to stacking, what about crops like arugula? Aren't there seeds (I THINK arugula is one?) that require light to germinate?
@DonnyGreens7 ай бұрын
When i grow arugula, i stack. You can try both ways and wee what happens!

Would someone starting a business impact you if they're located in the same area what is your take on this?
@DonnyGreens8 ай бұрын
It depends. If they are in the same direct area with the same business model, yes. But often it just improves awareness in the area in general. Also - having a unique business model will set you apart. Like servicing chefs vs working with home consumers for health
