I think the only thing he is right about is that ridiculous marketing from growers about making thousands of dollars a week selling them. That's just not realistic for the vast majority of microgreens farmers. Otherwise, trash video.
@DonnyGreens3 күн бұрын
I personally think thousand per week is really not that out of reach, which is why i do choose to include these numbers in my marketing and videos. If your average order size is $30/week, you only need 75 customers to get to $2,000/week. Not to bad!! It really comes down to being good at business, and having good systems in place for acquiring the customers. Thanks for your comment 🌱💚

I value most of the content from both you and Mike who you referenced in this video, and I’m utterly disappointed in both of you. From a content perspective, it’s really disingenuous to respond to a video without properly sourcing the video in your description (which you both did), as well as both of your videos main points could be broken down into a less than 5 minute video each. Neither of you are respecting your audiences time or ability to form our own conclusions. Mike makes one solid point in regard to micro greens which is the common marketing strategy that implies micro greens have more or a higher abundance of nutrients. While that is true for broccoli and specific nutrients in specific species of plants it is not true across the board and yet it is marketed as true from the majority of supermarkets and some restaurants where they are served. Mike is absolutely correct in stating that the way in which micro greens are being marketed to the end consumer is predatory and arguably a scam. It’s fair to say all his other points were relative to his technique, location, and available recourses and not relevant to the industry as a whole. He looked at very specific circumstances, formed very general conclusions, and did not explain the nuance as to how and why those circumstances might occur while using them as blanket statements to otherwise “prove” his point. Overall the validity of his one good point is lost in the lack of context surrounding his many bad points. You on the other hand spent most of this video grand standing your moral perspective of what is an appropriate way to conduct interactions with other people online. Defining his method purely as “toxic” many times over and showing an extreme emotional reaction to everything he said as if though it was a personal attack on you. No one needs to be virtue signaled into believing what you believe. Stand on the virtue of your facts not your moral philosophy. If he is wrong prove him wrong without the theatrics of virtue signaling.

Yes it was most definitely a direct attack on me. Just look at all my thumbnails he threw across his video. Most were my thumbnails and at one point even singled me out. His method of marketing is 100% toxic and the microgreens industry is far from predatory, give me a break. By the way, his video IS properly linked/sourced in my video description, right at the top, so that isn't true. Nevertheless, thanks for your deep analysis and opinion.

I'm a grower in my 10th year. I spend 4 hours per week in my grow room. My cost per tray, all supplies Including utilities and equipment and delivery costs, is $2.80. I sell many varieties, but an average PROFIT is $13.65/tray. I manage my grow rooms to a 7-8 day grow cycle with 8 hour dark cycle. Yes it takes knowledge to do this. I direct market to 53 bi-monthly customers and 2 restaurants that take two deliveries per week each resulting in 14Kg weekly. Just the restaurants generate over $5000/month. ======= My microgreens business is a side hustle ======== I run a home maintenance company as a main job. Who benefits and where is the money going? Just ask the seed suppliers for their annual profits from commercial microgreen growers. I understand that opinions should be shared freely regardless of stance or belief, and then discussed as adults, but there should be A BIG ASS BS BUTTON along with thumbs up or down. @@DonnyGreens I think Mike made some good points. Imho, the exorbitant price stores and sellers charge for microgreens is not justified - it is part of the hype around microgreens. He pointed out that growing microgreens was not that difficult and people should try their hand at it. Also, while microgreens are a good addition to the diet, they are not necessarily better than full size vegetables. I didn't find much fault in what he said. As to why he had clips of you, and not other microgreen channels on his video, I do not know and you probably can make a legal case against him for personal slander. And you should. Just for reference, I've been growing sprouts for over 10 years and have recently started on mung shoots, no microgreens yet.
@DonnyGreens5 күн бұрын
Interesting perspective, thanks for sharing!! I agree with quite a few of his points as well but I don't like how he needs to tear down others to make a point. I dont think his points really make sense either from the marketing stance to sell his device. Its simply a self watering device, he didnt have to do all the other stuff. He did share a lot of my video thumbnails but he shared some others as well. I was definitely the target #1 though. Someone else mentioned legal action and slander but that seems like more effort than its worth. I doubt this guy has a pot to piss in and I don't need his money anyway. I think everyone should be growing their own food for sure. I'm not sure i agree that microgreens are super expensive vs any/all the other produce, food, eggs out there. Especially considering a business model that delivers straight to the house too. Most things like this are cheaper if you do it yourself but not everyone wants to and there aint nothing wrong with being the supplier! Much love, thanks for your comment and perspective 🌱💚
