There was another game for a while, which I really liked, which was also based on the “try to bend in with the NPCs, and try to determine which of the apparent NPCs are actually players”, but was much simpler. There were no teams, it was a free-for-all. It was 2D, and how it worked was that you would be disguised by default, until you attacked, at which point your character’s eyes would glow for a few seconds, revealing them to be a player. Every time you killed another player’s character, you would get a point. Every time your character got killed, you would lose all your points. At some point they added a “designated target” thing, where there would be an indication for the direction that one particular (randomly selected for each player) player character was in, who you would get more points for killing. The attacking was iirc pretty much instant kill if you were close enough to them, but if you missed your attack, or if they missed their attack against you, then, they would either be a dance to see who stabs who, or one would walk away and try to get lost in the crowd of NPCs. It was called hide-n-stab , but eventually the devs took it down (was probably costing them too much hosting. There were no accounts, you would just open up the webpage and start playing.)
