Old comment but that was the whole point of this. After Johnson won 200 gold in the 1996 olympics, Bob Costas (NBC pundit) said his 200m time was faster than Bailey's 100m time. Johnson and his team agreed with this so Johnson used to claim he was the fastest man alive. On the back of this 'injury' Johnson didn't compete in the US based championship a few weeks later, which meant he couldn't qualify for the world championships in Athens in 97... Unsurprisingly they changed or created a rule that said previous champions would be invited back. Johnson chose to only compete in the 400m and now Maurice Greene was on the scene he never claimed to be the fastest man alive again.

Donovan had the highest top speed until Usain Bolt came along. Based on a pure definition of the world's fastest man, he was it from 1996 all the way to 2008. His top speed was unmatched until then as runners like Greene, Powell, Gatlin had faster times due to their much superior starts and first 50m but never attained his top speed.

A lot of you will disagree, but this was never really an American vs. Canadian thing. The media did its job in perpetuating this rivalry between the two nations, and I'm sick of it. This was simply a battle of egos (one being greater than the other apparently). Michael Johnson simply got his hurt when he knew he was going to lose that race. I'm an American, and I'll call it like I see it. He simply got outclassed. I thought he was overrated anyway, and I knew he was going to lose that race before it happened. 100 meters and 200 meters are entirely different races, and I knew Johnson wouldn't beat him in the straightaway. This race proved that, and it also proved that he didn't take his loss like a man. A real champion does this, and finds ways to get better. Johnson did not do that. Instead, he faked his injury, and even in his interview, he didn't sound like he was in pain. If he really tore his quad (or even his hamstring), he would've limped, which he didn't. He sat and squatted down. I've pulled quads and hamstrings before, and it hurts like hell to squat with those injuries. When he walked away from Donovan Bailey after the race, he did not limp. He walked as if he were fine (butthurt, but fine). He would've fell flat on his face running that fast had he really pulled something. I called BS the moment I saw it.

Bailey, a notorious slow starter (but who somehow set the WR for 50m) and isn't a good turn runner, somehow comes out ahead after 75m against the greatest turn runner in history up to that point. I still don't know how he did it. He was behind Frankie Fredericks and Ato Boldon initially in the 100m dash in 96. Johnson was ahead of the same two after 100m in the same Olympics. Somehow he came out ahead. Brilliant.

18:59 - Yeah, he squatted after he allegedly pulled a muscle. Which muscle exactly? It would hurt to squat if either were pulled. 19:13 - He walked away from Bailey rather quickly, looking embarrassed and defeated. That wasn't exactly a limp. 19:28 - Now he starts pretending he's injured. Good acting job. 21:00 - He didn't look like he was in any physical pain. Emotional pain? That I can see. He didn't even sound like he was in physical pain. You can hear it in a man's voice when he's in physical pain, and you can hear it when he's in emotional pain.

Not sure if I've ever pulled a muscle mid race or activity, but one it was his quad, which is less relentless than a hammy. With the adrenaline u have while running and blood moving ur still able to walk decently with minor pain. Cant run. But once adrenaline goes away and cold its start tightening and hurts. It also sometimes flares in pain levels from experiences. And when he was talking, the muscle wasnt engaged so it wouldn't hurt very much, at best he'd like feel it, but no pain

It's funny how Donovan was looking back... In his mind he probably was "I thought I was running against someone, where is he?!" On the other note: Sometimes it is better to humble yourself and say to others when they do good or better than you "good job". In life no one is faster or better. Everything is destiny. There is always someone else better at the moment. But nothing is 100% in life. You cannot be better forever, someone else will always take your place no matter what. We all should learn to just thank God for the blessings that we receive because it is a gift to be able to run that fast. Easy to lose it when we boast about them like we never received it at all.

Storm Hall Pretty sure every meet they go to have their own testing facilities. Let’s be real here. No athlete is completely natural. They take supplements to help them perform at that high level. With that being said over the years certain products that were fit for use 20years ago are banned today. Steroids are not the only enhancers out there. Don’t just assume let the tests be the judge. The same drug testers test the athletes in the same meet. Also, I’m very sure the testers would not side with a poor 3rd world country like Jamaica compared to a power house like the U.S. I get it though... The US has the upper hand in every way, so logically it would not make sense for them to lose; or so they think. There are factors that people forget or don’t know exists. The “Jamaican’s” are from a blessed people and their ancestors where the most feared and respected of people. Other nations wonder after them, but western history has tried to conceal and silence the true history. Slowly but surely the world will witness the raise of the fallen nation of Israel.
