Great job Chooch! FB Market place is huge with scams! It's easy for people to grab pictures from a legitimate listing or anywhere online and create a scam/fake listing. The usual tell tell sign, is a quick pay link for PayPal or something or an up front deposit to "hold it or know your serious"!

I got scammed trying to buy a used wheel online. I wanted a wheel so bad, I was blinded by desire. In hindsight, it was super obvious I was getting scammed. Never got my money back 😅 Be careful out there. Buy new or deal in-person only.

I've bought all my wheels in used condition and mostly from the US or far away on the other side of Canada (I'm in Montreal) and never had any problems. but I saw more and more scams on Facebook and it's indeed a shame.. don't these people have anything else to do?

People who just joined FB are the most vulnerable. They want to learn about the thing they are looking to buy, and then they see someone selling it for cheap.They want to buy it before someone else does. It happens quickly, before someone else can warn them. Rushing/impatience lack of research on the product and seller, is how I end up getting something I regret.

If you go to Honest Harry's Used Car Lot, you can drive it around the block. If you go at night, the string of lights overhead make a little wax look like a great paint job, nice and shiny. Now, there is no equivalent for an EUC. In person, you can scope out the tire wear, and see if it feels right when you ride it, and check out that it communicates with the app. While in the app, check out the total mileage. Really high mileage could mean a tired battery that discharges quickly. Batteries are sensitive to the total charge cycles and the elapsed time before recharge. Did the owner's trips take the wheel to places where the wheel had to be stored in a discharged condition? How many trips to the lake on weekends and recharging during the week? Does the deal include jump pads? Are they hiding something that should nix the deal?

I can’t imagine buying any big ticket item from some random person out of state. I have to look at something in person if I’m going to drop any significant money. I would consider buying or selling a used wheel locally, but we’re meeting in a police parking lot and I’ll exchange money if they show and the wheel looks ok. No chance I’m sending hundreds or thousands and hoping they ship it and that it’s in the advertised condition.

I had one for sale and the people who wanted to buy it. . Wanted to send me 1500.oo more than what I wanted and sent me a bogus cashier's check so I would cash it and send them the 1500. If I would of sent the money I would owe the bank the money and been out the wheel I was selling.

yep also just getting the thing boxed up right and carried to the post office is a step many won't do. Its heavy cost a ton and most do not save their boxes.

Chooch, almost all EUCs are purchased on the internet. Where do you think ewheels and revrides exist to take orders? ONLINE. 😂 The first EUC I bought was an IPS Lhotz from eBay. I think I know what you mean, but you're saying something else. It's OK to buy a new EUC from the internet. It's also OK to buy an EUC from someone on a post. Just ask the community if anyone knows the seller, that's all. 😉

​@@choochtech yea... i have Vsett 10+ 25.6Ah with little more than 1000miles and works perfect... i had some problems with controller first week when i bought it but i change it and from then all i do is drive 😁😁 i had to changed tyres(have semi off road as you), carbon handlebar, steering dumper, light, mirrors, bag... but now i would love to have handguard because it looks awsome(first time i saw them on scooter is in your video) and they protect your hand... I used to try to catch most of them before saved a couple people from being scammed, but gave up on it. They really are a parasite. If you do go the route of paying online get tagged pics and use a protected payment service PP Goods& Services etc

The scam bots can seem real too, the AI / Machine Learning can make small talk and seem legit. I was talking to a bot for a while who said was working for KingSong, it took me a while to figure it out... Either way I agree totally buy local or from a reputable company. I don't think it's a good idea to get a used EUC either

Nothing wrong with buying a used EUC. Just buy locally. Not like a used car where there could be multiple things wrong with it. Chances are if it is working when you buy it it it should be fine. Maybe a slow leak in the tire...lol. That happened to me. Bastard...haha

I used to buy off facebook and craigslist a lot and i did something similiar as chooches recommendation. I would say take a picture of the item along with a roll of toilet paper, a spoon and paper towel. Take a picture of the item next to a shoe, a cup and a television remote. Several absolutely refused to do it. Refusing to authenticate the sell and make a couple hundred dollars is a red flag. Good looking out chooch.
