We have a wheel tax in the city of Green Bay. Any vehicle over 20 years old in Wisconsin you can have collector plates I did that on my 2 older vehicles . Only that u can’t drive them in January with the collector plates, I don’t.

Kwik Trip is an amazing convenience store. All their dairy, bread, and sweets are made in house. I personally don't use their gas and diesel because I get better power and fuel mileage using Wagner Shell. That is me so you can experiment and decide. Have a safe ride.

MN is currently experiencing an exodus similar to CA. People moving to FL, TX, TN. MN local news had i-view with 3 former residents after they'd been gone a yr or more. None of them would move back.

Welcome to Wisconsin. I live in Fond Du Lac. We have 8 Kwik Trips in Fond Du Lac alone. We love Kwik Trip. As I run the Midwest ,I buy most of my diesel in Kwik Trip in WI , IA and MN... get great fuel discounts and rewards points are good and some of the bigger ones now with truck parking and showers. Kwik Trips are squeaky clean . Friendly staff. Yous will love living in Wisconsin. We have so much outdoors activities we can do all year round. When yous get back go down to Lake Winnebago and see it's frozen over. They ll soon be out on it ice fishing.... yous will love summer ,lots of state parks and places you guys will be able to go on the trails with your 4 wheelers I moved here 20 years ago and it's now home for me.. Wisconsinites are known as Cheeseheads! Get used to it! Also, enjoy the cheese curds - and beer - in moderation. Yep, per title cost is outrageous at a $164.50 per vehicle, but they had to do something with the people to process these - so this is a contracted service from what I've found out. And then, depending on the county of residence, the county can tack on an additional annual fee (which I believe is capped at $5 per year) to your annual license renewal. I have 4 vehicles - of only which I have two registered in Wisconsin - the other 2 still have their permanent registration from Montana - and no one give me any grief over that. Looks like you had an enjoyable drive through the heartland - until Wysnowming. Nice tire thumper you found there Alice! Moving is such a pain, but what can you say - I'm moving from Wisconsin to Tennessee this spring, so I know what you're going through - but as U-Haul says "It's an Adventure!" Sure is when you take a wrong turn. Good luck on the move and and hope all goes well!

I was a driver in So. Ca. for 26 years. I drove for a major freightline and 22 years for Ralphs Grocery. Before that we lived in the Chicago area where I drove OTR for Sears delivering the small catalog. stores As soon as I could I took my Teamster retirement and got the heck out of Ca. I have been retired in No. Central Arkansas for some time now. Both the wife and I never once have regretted leaving Ca. Leaving Ca. was a smart move but like us you will miss the weather in winter but probably nothing else.

Moved to Wisconsin from NYC 9 months ago. Besides how easy it was to transfer my CDL, the savings for insurance and no tolls. My car insurance was $1500 less and eliminated a $300 month toll bill.

Glad to see you bailed out of California. We left the San Diego area in May 2021 for Idaho and are SO GLAD we did. I grew in the suburbs of Milwaukee and travelled all over the state while growing up. We used to have a 2 week family vacation every summer camping on a small lake in northern Wisconsin. It was heaven on earth for a kid. You'll need to get your cheesehead hats now. 😁 I assume you went across on I-80, so where did you turn north?

So your almost back home in Cali. That’s a huge big move you guys are doing. Two trips back to back from Cali to Wisconsin. With the weather you are having to drive through I don’t think you’ll miss Doner anytime soon. I have an 2004 Honda Accord and this thing is an animal in the snow on the highway. It’s got to be tires. When it’s time to put on snow tires I put on 4 not two. For me it makes a huge difference. I can go cruising down the highway in 3 to 4 inches of snow and I can go at quite the clip. I slow down when passing other cars. Don’t want to freak people out. I don’t run all season tires. If you don’t have great tires to run on what is making you stick to the pavement. I never skimp on tires. Good to see you guys enjoying what you have to go through to get you and your family all the trucks and toys out of Cali and to Wisconsin. Alice just has to pack her toys in a suitcase. Sheepishly smiles.. Glad to see one more trip back and it’s done. Thanks for posting. Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails to you.. D

I grandfather’d into a CDL, when it came into effect in 1992. The whole premise of the CDL was supposed to be every state would have the same standard. Testing, and database. It was to prevent drivers from having Class A licenses in multiple states, when they had too many tickets. Like my late uncle in-law😏 Like typical government bureaucracy, their programs run astray

I'm not to sure why they put the counties on the plates. Nebraska does as well, but its the first 2 numbers at the beginning of plate number. Another thing is Iowa requires plates on front and back. When a lot of states don't.

WI vehicle registrations can vary by county. Many will add a wheel tax, and/or some cities will add a tax, as well. Luckily my county adds both. My pickup is $40 a year more than yours. Kudos for residing in county that isn't ridiculous.

It's cool that you guys moved to Wisconsin Wisconsin is known for some of the best cheese which I'm sure you already know but I am in your neighboring state in Iowa and we have some of the best cheese curds made here in Iowa one place to get some of the best cheese curds is the Amana Colonies and other places in Iowa the Amish make some of the best goat cheese regular cheese Kurds Iowa has a lot to offer as well as Wisconsin Iowa is more than just corn and soybeans as people would say when you asked about Iowa there's a lot to offer in Iowa as I said but welcome to Wisconsin since that is where you chose to live and buy a home
