fun fact: the scene where smokey has mcqueen practice in the forest with lights off is a reference to running moonshine in the early days where alcoholic drinks were illegal so people would brew their own drinks and drive their souped up cars in the night to avoid being spotted this ends up creating stock car racing after people raced their moonshine cars

If you really think about it, Sterling only wanted what was best for Lightning, after a crash like that and giving him the ability to still be involved with the sport while not being on the track. Hes a true businessman, he was thinking about the future and taking over a already successful company means you need to plan for the future. Lightning still in his own ego wanted to race again and wasnt ready. But the best case for him was to retire and help the sport from the outside.

8:30 The thing about technology in the cars movies is the problem of sentient cars combined with the “ship of Theseus” (The ship gets built, if part of the wood in the ship gets damaged you replace it. But one after another if you replace every single piece gradually is it at the end still the same ship) And the new race of cars have so much done to them (new shell, engine, hydraulics… all perfected for racing) so if Mcqueen got such a drastic change all at once to stay in the race would it still be Mcqueen that would be racing or a new car. I know his “car soul” would still be there because that is more of a hard drive/memory file but who knows? He might not survive it.

I didn't hate 4 but it just made no sense in terms of the franchise. Why would Po care about the title of dragon warrior he is supposed to be enlightened. McQueen just kills me sometimes. He could have saved himself a lot of grief on the simulator if, like the first one, he had just stopped. In the first one when he got to Radiator Springs and got into trouble instead of just stopping he doubles and triples down by just gunning it harder which made everything much, much worse. He did the exact same thing on the simulator until he ended up destroying everything.

Not gonna lie. I wish we could have seen more races in Cars with McQueen in it. In all honesty, think it would have been sick watching McQueen and Cruz racing together as a team. And perhaps have him retire in Cars 4 (if they added it) where he becomes a chief stop (forgot what they called). Maybe even have McQueen get a child or something who'd continue his legacy too. And have McQueen's kid and Sally race together. Maybe have McQueen fall into another accident that actually unalives him. Which gives his kid motivation to race. Idk theres just so many ideas. But i guess thats the thing with movies and such. And cars wasn't really about racing to begin (i mean it is, but i mean like thats the theme of the movies but not the main focus). I dunno, I just wish we saw more racing. Ya'll can agree or disagree with me. But thats my take on it.
