And since we have seen Barry be emotional over his mother and father dying, in raged and confused after being betrayed by zoom and thawn, can you imagine a version of Barry who has lost iris, has all of these memories be told that he’s just a copy? That team flash who he considers his friends, his family abandon him and just focus the other Barry Allen who didn’t have to become a time remnant? Like that would literally destroy him. And once you start thinking in your head that you are copy of someone else, its possible to try be different another person. So he created a name for himself that would involve him being someone who doesn’t feel pain. So that he could feel important. Honestly i really wish we saw that story.

For context Savitar and Barry fought in the furture, in the future Barry created time remnants to stop Savitar, in the proceess Savitar killed all except 1, that 1 remnant became savitar, by killing Iris savitar created a fixed point in which there is a time loop.

So, Hartley Rathaway. He was a complete dick when he worked on the particle accelerator with Cisco and Caitlyn. He then became the Pied Piper to get revenge and became an enemy of Flash, Cisco and Caitlyn. Then Barry went back in time and Hartley had to work with Cisco and Caitlyn to stop the Time Wraith. The result of that was the Hartley became aware of Thawne being the only cause of his pain and became friendlier with Cisco and Caitlyn (and also ended up a bit humbled overall and much more chill). He's now a friend and sometimes ally of Team Flash. But, when Cisco was comparing Julian to Hartley, he was comparing him to the original "dick" version of Hartley from when they worked on the accelerator together.

The time remnant is the one who goes back in time. Traveling in the past a day ago is fine because you have time to go back to the point you left. But going back a few seconds in time then the window closes. You become outside the flow of time you have all the memories and the emotions your other self has. But there’s no place for you in time. It’s like you're a clone. For example: let's say present Barry went a month back in time and walks next to “past Barry ''. He spends all his time next to him. Once “past Barry” reaches the exact point that “time traveling Barry '' supposedly goes back in time, the gap closes. There’s no opening window for present Barry to jump back into. That means he exists outside of time. And past Barry is now who we focus on instead of the one who traveled through time. When you travel distantly to the past like a few years back, You have a huge gap between the point of time you left and the point in the past you traveled to. The more seconds go by of you staying in the past, the more your past self is getting to the point of when you left your present, and the more that gap gets smaller. That’s why when you travel back in time you need to make sure it is far from the point you left your present, that the gap is wide enough to jump through when you decide to go back. But if it's only a few seconds you go back, that means it takes “past Barry” a few seconds to reach the point “time traveling Barry left” left and will close Immediately if it's a few seconds. “Time traveling Barry” is now a time remnant. A hair sticking out of the flow of time. And the timeline doesn’t like that so the time paradox kills him.

The thing about timelines in this series is that it's not that the timelines are branching, i.e. Multiverse, but that for each Earth, whenever something changes due to time travel, the timeline itself is overwritten. That's why Barry can't just go back to Pre-Flashpoint

Wally lost his powers because technically Savitar from a previous point in time led him to the Philosopher's Stone. @@rickflag1424 Or they weren't on anything and should have been. Since the premise of this season works great. But they seemed to struggle with the reason behind his motivation. I remember the interviews and panels between season 3 and 4. Every time Savitar came up as a question the cast would respond with not understanding how it worked. And on one occasion a guy a fan told them what he thought was going to happen. Because he figured out who Savitar was after the first episode and created several theories until he landed on what he thought the reason would be. And Grant told the guy, he didn't think that was the writers plan, but he was now going to make it his personal head canon.

Oh wait.. hold on.. that's trying to be internally consistant (and I'm not referring to be consistant with a classic era Superman comic, just used that as an example) They could then have gone to Earth-3 or even Supergirls Earth.. pretty sure Supergirl would have welcomed them both. Heck, if they explored the Universe may even have ended up on the Earth of the original FLASH. So many potentials they just threw out the window really.
