Hannah, quick note on the "Brotherhood without Banners". This group or "lot" as you say (lol) are the remains of the people Ned Stark sent out to capture the Mountain when Ned sat on the Iron Throne while King Robert was out hunting. Ned was bringing back some honor to the farmers who the Mountain killed and then Ned summoned Tywin to court. While out hunting the Mountain on Ned's orders, both Ned and King Robert died leaving the lot "without banners". So they formed their own honor group and became the "Brotherhood without Banners". That's my understanding from the books. It's why the guy who was brought back with the eyepatch said he was killed by the Mountain. That was in that battle (offscreen). Great reaction as well. You're in the thick of it now....

@@darth856 Maybe. Ned asked him to "assemble 100 men" so it's mostly likely the original lot with a few new additions. My impression of the Stark deserters comment was a reference to it being Ned Stark would issued the command. But small potatoes. Can't imagine there would be too many additional followers with the Lannisters ruling the way they do. Interesting thoughts and I appreciate the comment. Thanks!

The last 5 minutes of this episode are just a bloody masterclass in acting. Like, at first Tywin decides to preheat the grill and just cranks up that tension to 400 degrees. Next thing Tyrion's got me nodding along in support like he's single-handedly taking on congress. Half a second later, Cersei's suddenly taken me back to every petty fight I ever had with my siblings and I wanna throw a plate at the televison, but before I can, Peter Dinklage decides he's gotta play my heart strings like a bloody concert violinst. But I can't even finish dialing the number for the Crisis Hotline, because Cersei's already getting her comeuppance and for about three seconds I feel like I must've popped an oxycodone before Charles Dance decides it's time to chuck some kerosene on this barbeque and somehow I feel like I'm the one whose dad's just busted them smoking. But then, before I can remember where I put my valium, Lena Headey goes and delivers that "Father, don't make me do it again, please." and, holy crap, I'm actually feeling bad for Cersei Lannister. Like, real talk, the show could just be these three sat at a table, like a multi-million dollar commercial for family therapy, and I would compulsively watch 18 seasons of it.

Some answers to your questions: 24:48 - Regarding Shireen, the daughter of Stannis and Selyse: * In the backstory is explained: when she had been a baby, Shireen had suffered from a disease called "Greyskin". In the GoT universe, this disease is feared, as it is highly infectious and almost always deadly, through less in infants than adults. On could think of it as a combination of smallpox and leprosy: Some people survived it, as Shireen did, but it left marks, like the one on her face. Again, in GoT, people with this disease are shunned, even if they survive it. As Shireen is the daughter of a Lord, she is more socially protected from this shunning than others (If it had not been the case, Shireen would have been killed or sent away from the Realm). This is partly the reason that Shireen is kept away in her room. For her mother Selyse, her existence , and the marks of the disease, make her a living memory of the fact that none of the baby boys that Selyse gave birth to have survived their infancy. In a medieval world like the on of GoT, and especially for the wife of a High Lord /King, this would be a heavy cross to bear for a woman. As the scene plays out, it is obvious that Selyse has became mentally unbalanced form the stress of all these events. Regarding Stanis and his lack of empathy for Shireen: It is a trait of his personality (and repeatedly stated on the books, too) that he is blunt and has few social cortesies. Even with his daughter, he is clearly ill at ease, not knowing how to behave and provide simple affection, even if he feels it.

The curse Karstark’s talking about is the same curse Grey Worm and the unsullied had to shed: the names their family gave them. Robb then becomes a kinslayer while Jaime sheds Kingslayer in a baptism by fire when Qyburn burned away the corruption and he names himself Jaime in the bath with Brienne. He’s reborn like his story of the Mad King wanting to burn and come back as a dragon. Jaime 2.0 is a bit less like Beric said with his hand same as Davos’ fewer fingers when he became the Onion Knight. Kissed by Fire leans hard on the rising from the ashes theme and even uses fire to transition to new scenes.

Whatever he may be- Jamie is actually one if not the best knights in the kingdoms. He was insanely skilled. He had great aspirations to be loyal and honest, yet post making a decision that would save everyone - everyone made him a monster and no one would believe him even if he tried. So then he just stopped fighting it and just went along with what he was labeled as. Brianne calling him the kingslayer and him saying his true name is Jamie broke my heart in a way- he’s always wanted to be called his name and not the label, this is the first time he’s voiced it.

When it comes to GoT villains, Tywin Lannister is my favorite. This is because of his ruthlessness combined with Charles Dance's outstanding performance. He steals every scene his is in. He is the opposite of Ned Stark. Ned cared for his children. He wanted them to be happy, most of all. Tywin only uses his children to strengthen the Lannister family name We see more character depth to Jamie Lannister. Because he did his best to save over half a million innocent lives, he was branded 'Kingslayer' by Ned Stark. His hatred of Ned Stark really begins to make sense, yet he still wanted an honorable duel with Ned and not a quick death. I'm not defending Jamie but when we think about how evil he was for pushing Brandon out the window, we should consider the alternative. Had King Robert Baratheon found out, he would have killed Jamie, Cersei, and their 3 children.

I think Tywin Lannister was actually afraid for the union of Sansa Stark and Ser Loras Tyrell to take place. Highgarden rivals the Lannisters in wealth and have a large army. If that union takes place they would most likely side with Robb Stark in his efforts against him. Sansa Stark is the Lady of Winterfell and the key to the North. The Tyrell's would help Robb in an effort to secure that union. Robb would no longer need the Frey's or Karstark's help. Robb Stark would have a larger army becoming a huge threat. The North and the Reach against the South. If Tywin plants his house into the mix Robb would stand no chance in defeating him as his army is broken. Not only the Lannisters would hold the key to the North and the Reach a Tyrell would be wed as Queen significantly solidifying their union. This is actually smart on his behalf since he has Sansa Stark in his custody he has the ability to nip it in the bud so say.
