Great vid guys - I actually had a wood oil stain on my nice white pavers and was freaking out - went the laundry detergent option - plenty of scrubbing - every 15mins over the half hour - boiled water from the kettle to wash off and looks brand new! Great stuff!
@andysaunders37083 жыл бұрын
Powdered laundry detergent works pretty well - sprinkle it on the stain, then just moisten it, then leave it. Hose it of, while scrubbing -seems to work faster than the liquid stuff. Also effective for finding any cuts you may have on your hands... I'm amazed that the adhesive on the tape survived the ordeal! That's damn good tape.

We always poured gas on it, scrub and let it evaporate then powdered detergent, bleach and a little water and scrub and rinse. I take a huge bottle of dawn and coat the oil stains. I just leave it and let the rain eventually wash it away. I had a huge oil leak a while back and i washed what I could. After, I coated the whole area with a thin layer of dawn dish soap. It sat there for weeks until it finally rained. Maybe 8 weeks. It came out more beautiful then the rest of my driveway. Awesome video.

I've always just used kitty litter. My dad taught ne this. We've never had a cat, but always had kitty litter in the garage, lol. And of course, I just changed my oil and spilled a bit, so I rewatched this. I think the backcrete could have worked better if it was worked into the stain more woth hour feet, that's how I've always used the kitty litter. Sprinkle kitty litter on stain. Scrub it into the concrete with feet so that it breaks into a powder, filling all the pours. Allow to absorb the oil for about 30 minutes, and then sweep up. The backcrete got wet, and I think that might have been a problem too. But great video guys!!

My Dad was pouring gas into the carb of a 66 Mustang when it backfired and caught the cup on fire. He set it on the driveway and the flaming gas started down towards Mom's station wagon. We all freaked out and threw dirt on it to extinguish the flames. Later Mom saw the clean spot burned through the perpetual oil stain and said that we should have used more of whatever we had put on that clean spot. We never did tell her we almost incinerated her Caprice. Good times!

I used to work as a mechanic and the best thing that I found for oil and grease was Castrol Super Clean. Comes in a purple jug, you can buy it just about anywhere that sells engine oil (Autozone, Oreilleys, even Walmart). It’s cheap, it smells like something that would definitely kill you if you drank it (so you know it works), it’s supposedly biodegradable, and it works miracles on oil. We would use it to clean the concrete floors in the shop. I suspect it’s probably similar to the Rustoleum stuff they used, but it seems to be more readily available.

@nineisalso62374 жыл бұрын
And thats how to kill someone who walks buy and asks what you’re doing
@rotor134 жыл бұрын
@@nineisalso6237 You only need to douse it with water to dilute it and you don't need a lot of muratic acid to clean an entire driveway. 1 cup of acid in a 10 gallon bucket is safe. And if you're that worried about it, mixing another bucket of water with baking soda right behind it is enough to completely neutralize the acid. Muratic acid is used in pool cleaning. Theres a lot of DIY garage epoxy coatings that recommend using muratic acid to rough up the concrete flooring just enough to allow the epoxy to grab onto the pores of the concrete for a lasting finish. Pure concentrate of it is what will kill you - even from the fumes. If you use proper PPE and follow the instructions - it won't even kill your grass.

On new or old oil stain I found just plane oil dry/absorbent granules or even kitty litter granules work very good. If using on old spot I Sprinkle the granules over the area. I then stand on the granules and do that old Chubby Checker dance called the twist on the area with the soles of my boots/shoes to grind them in. Leave on area a few hours or overnight. Repeat if needed.

Hey. Chateau Guys...I overdid it and watched 10 videos. Yours was the best. And had lots of laughs along the way. You made it a docu-comedy-drama. There should be an Emmy for that. So, I'm going with the Rustoleum grease-buster. Your evidence and sense of humor sold me. But today I go to Home Depot and they are sold out. So, instead I am forced to try the Tide detergent -- a close second place in your highly scientific study. If the Tide fails, well, then. Tomorrow, I venture out to find a Home Depot or maybe a Lowes with the Rustoleum in stock.

I used the detergent to clean stone with motor oil stains, left one night and then with a Karcher and... it worked!!! Thank you!!!

Great experiment! First time I've heard of laundry detergent, I've always used dish soap. I wonder if the effects would be different on pavement? Ps always see that skateboard in the back ground Zach, let's see something sometime haha. Peace from coldlake AB canada.

This video saved my life. I have been really depressed these last few months and honestly nothing can really move me anymore. It's as if serotonin has lost it's meaning to me. Thanks to your video I finally realized that my girlfriend is like a stain in my driveway, so I drowned her in Tide. Thank you so much. Have you ever smoked dmt?

Glad I remembered having seen this video. I woke up this morning to find that the lid on my cheapo oil drain bucket popped off and dumped several quarts of oil on my driveway. Yay! 😜

"This is the best way to clean a driveway!" Then at the end he just pulls out a big fancy pressure washer lol

Yea what? Didn't even use the winning method. Best way to clean driveway is apparently a pressure washer.

I guess they're demonstrating what to use IF YOU DON'T HAVE a big, fancy pressure washer with a surface cleaner attachment.....which is what I have and use. lol!

I spray the stains really well with brake clean and then follow up with laundry detergent before the brake clean dries. Works every time.

Do you put water in there when you scrub?
@moofasa69532 жыл бұрын
If you are able to react to the spoil while its still fresh, you can put cat litter down on top and spread and turn it over a bunch. The litter actually absorbs the oils and leaves your garage/driveway floor clean. Super cheap and good for a lot of cleanups, before it dries of course lol.

I wish I read your comment 1 hour ago. I was changing my cars oil and some spilled so I just scrubbed it with hot water and dawn soap. Didn’t do much.😅
@moofasa69532 жыл бұрын
oh good lord i remember when i did that lol. Just sorta spread the oil around and made it slicker -_- Also, one more tip if your in a part of the world where you get icy driveways, use something to deice the driveway and lay sawdust down. I dont know exactly why it works, but it does

The cheapest, most effective, effortless option is coating the concrete with a clear smooth coat, it prevents the leak from getting into the concrete, it's way easier to clean, you have to do it once every couple decades if you take care of it, and looks awesome and professional.
@ThatOneGuy0774 жыл бұрын
I just use kitty litter 🤷🏻♂️ always works for me. If got music going, can jam when you're grinding it in to absorb the fluid.
