Having a sleeper is also incredibly satisfying. I went with Cobb parts and a tune by a local shop ('17 WRX premium stage 2 on 93oct) I'm significantly faster than a stock STI, though probably not on a road course, and the reliability and comfort are well preserved. I also don't attract cops with the same frequency as STI owners reportedly do. I'm fairly confident that this wouldn't work on the FA20t without a dedicated tune.

10 decibels is a 10x jump in power. That isn't very meaningful though, because we also perceive sounds roughly logarithmically: 10 extra decibels doesn't seem that much louder to a person's ear.

What's interesting about cutouts is how much exhaust still goes through the muffler. I have an electric set on my car that I can open as little or as much as I want and even wide open it still feels like at least half the flow comes out the tail pipe.
