They were all lowered(probably with cut springs lol) and on reps with some big exhaust and an intake. I was in the honda crowd at the time and we would all race on the outside of town. The Tiburon guys had cool looking cars, but they were so slow and handled like shit. I drove one up the Ortega highway while a friend drove my EF hatchback and he was so confused at how my 88 hatch built like a box was so much more nimble than his Tibby. It was still built really cheap, with corners cut on materials, manufacturing, and component design. I mainly cite weak bushings, and in some cases an entire lack thereof (only one differential mount bushing where there should obviously be two), poor quality control, and a meh manual transmission in the first generation genny. They were definitely still in their cheapo era. I've driven and worked on them before, and just recently a friend and I replaced a control arm that snapped as he was parking his car, not a good look. Just for the record, this isn't an attack on the Genesis, they do handle great, look good, and have plenty of power for the time. Just wanted to share a portion of why I thought it failed.

One thing you failed to mention is that Hyundai owns and operates their own steel foundries, unlike any other car manufacturer that I'm aware of. This is key to Hyundai's movement towards manufacturing better cars and being able to compete in overall quality while still undercutting the competition on price. They are able to make their own alloys and use them in places where they matter most, to maximize the strength and quality of the base chassis design. Hyundai's overall quality started improving drastically in the late 2000's. Honestly I think the Genesis coupe is a great-looking car. It doesn't stand out as much as a 350Z or Mustang, but there's a lot fewer of them on the road and I think they look a bit more interesting than either alternative (although the current Mustang is a really great car). I always wanted one, and to be honest, I still do.

I recently got its successor as a project, a 2010 Hyundai Genesis R-Spec and I love it too. My love for Hyundai started the day I tore apart the Tib engine and realized the extraordinary value in its simplicity and build quality far away exceeds all others and made a lifelong loyal customer out of me. But one things for sure I never would of thought it was a Hyundai, I think ultimately what killed the genesis was the Hyundai name attached to it, the genesis was like the new kid on the court wearing AND-1 when everyone else is wearing Nike or Adidas, but he could actually play good but no one really wanted to give him a chance because of what he was wearing 😔... Never mind that Hyundai's including the Genesis suffer brutal depreciation. You better love that car as if you didn't put 50% down, you can't even get rid of it. My brother bought his Genesis for around $30k and it was barely over a year old. The MSRP was like $53000. I bought my 2011 3.8 track Edition brand new. At the time my criteria was rear-wheel-drive, 2-door, sporty. I looked at a lot of different cars. The Genesis looked good, went good, handled good, costly less and had better warranty than anything else out there. Haven't regretted a minute of it and still drive it everyday. I get a good amount of looks at it also since there aren't that many around.

Bought a 23 Elantra N Absolutely love it, such an attention grabber and the warranties are unbeatable by other manufacturers

I bought a Veloster n for a few reasons. I love how it reminds me of a 90's civic hatch in looks. The exhaust pops! I also fell in love with how the car felt driving. the price helped a lot, $10000 less than the civic type r when I bought mine.

if you had a choice to swap out to elantra n, would you?
@jacobwilliams1092 жыл бұрын
@@jk25653 I thought about waiting for it. That's tough, I would definitely swap to an i30 with 4 doors. Probably not only because I'm not sold on the rear of the Elantra.

@@jacobwilliams109 yeah, i can't pull the trigger on elantra, due to design. I can't pull the trigger on veloster, due to design too. Damn. I'd kill for a nice looking coupe from hyundai like a genesis coupe. gr86 is hitting all the check marks, as well as the markups :[.

As a 2011 Genesis Coupe owner, I will never get tired of people asking me what my car is and then thinking I'm just messing with them when I tell them it's a Hyundai.

In 2010 I sat in a friend's mid 2000s Hyundai Accent and said, "I will never buy a Hyundai, this is terrible" 4 years later I bought a 2014 2.0T Hyundai Genesis Coupe, which I loved a lot. I miss that car, but sometimes you got to grow up and get a Subaru Outback. The Velociter N 2.0T is the exact same as the one in the second gen Genesis coupe

Haha. “You got to grow up and get a Subaru Outback” is an outstanding quote.

The Hyundai Tiburon was actually my second car, the early model not the revamped one, and I loved it. My buddy in college had a celica and it actually kept up with it most of the time, just didn't look as cool. Since I have owned a mustang, 350z, 370z, and a couple dad cars. I now own a 2020 Hyundai Veloster N and it is hands down the best car I have ever owned. The customization options are a huge selling point for me, and the exhaust sound is second to none.

My first (and current) car is a 2013 Hyundai Veloster RE:MIX Edition. Picked it up for $6300 and I've had it for two years now, and I LOVE IT! Incredible MPG, and it actually looks stylish! I'm also super surprised at the amount of compliments I get from random people on the streets about it. I am now a devoted Veloster fanboy and one day hope to pick up a Veloster N! Cool vid as always!!

I have a Veloster N and love it. I’ve been able to do a decent amount of mods to it and I anticipate continuing to build it out. From what I’ve heard the departure of Albert Bierman and the transition to electric has put the N division into question, but hopefully they continue the N brand into electric vehicles. I think if they do then the aftermarket will continue to grow for these cars.

I love Hyundai since my dad drove a Scoupe Turbo when I was a kid, and after all these years a Genesis Coupe came out, but sadly it didn't produce an RHD version🥲 I'm still looking forward Hyundai will make a Coupe today

I bought 3 bk1 genesis and I adored them. They scratched all the itches for a fun car without being overpriced or hard to maintain. In terms of the hot hatches available right now, the Veloster is definitely one of the most desirable.

Love my wife’s 2014 KIA optima sx turbo(2.0L). A really fun drive. Especially when the motor locks up going down the interstate. But to KIAs credit. They did replace the engine under recall, even with us having 120000 miles in it. The reason for the motor locking up was due to a faulty machine process on the engine block from the factory that would cause premature main bearings failure. Only a number where affected. So be careful when buying earlier model 2.0l turbo engines from Hyundai. But if u do. Make sure u have the knock sensor recall installed or otherwise they will not cover it. Dealer told me they had to reject multiple customers on the recall of the engine due to them not having the knock sensors taken care of.

My first car was a 2012 genesis coupe 2.0t and I regret selling it everyday. It was a fantastic car that was fun to drive and easily modifiable, learned how to wrench on mine. Throw some wider tires and bolt ons into one and they are awesome!
