I've found that resto-modding or engine swapping a car with upgraded parts from the same brand or manufacturer gets a pass from most people. It's cool seeing the old school car kick ass with the new cars with new tech, as long as you can maintain loyalty or brand pride.

First, I'm not a purist, I'm actually a big fan of modifying cars and especially modern technology being installed in old cars. It's the best of 2 worlds in several ways. But there are limits, like this build. So, you probably already guessed that I do think this build is stupid (for several reasons). It's not very special imo, it was just a matter of time before someone put an S55 in an E30. The car doesn't look special either, just like any race E30 M3. But above all, it's a waste of E30 M3! Apart from the >50k money wasted, I'm quite sure the S55 engine isn't an upgrade on the S14. The S14 is one of the greatest engines ever imo, so why would you replace it? You also ruin the 50-50 weight distribution of the car. That being said, swapping an AMG engine into an E30 M3 would be too absurd for me to find it.

Im no purist. I can appreciate when someone breathes new life into an old car that was crashed, had no engine or had a blown engine by swapping in a new engine. I don’t appreciate when they bin the old engine that was in it instead of rebuilding it then just swap in a new one.
