Y'all are missing out on that HUD. I bought a cheap $25 one off Amazon a few years ago and it's my favorite device in my car. Plug it into the ODBII and you're ready to go. They're even adjustable for different tire sizes throwing off your speedometer. Got me out of a speeding ticket once too! My dashcam picks up the refection on the windshield so I was able to easily prove my speed when a cop pulled me over instead of the car that was actually speeding. I highly recommend one

Just to let you know, the phone holder works. It detects when you're reaching for it and unclamps the phone, and stops charging when it does. As long as it's the same or similar to the one my bf has. If it is, definitely a really cool product.

Obviously the charger itself has to be plugged in, but the actual charging method itself is wireless because it doesn't require a wired connection between the phone and charger. Why would this not be considered wireless. In one situation you simply place your phone on top of something to charge it, whereas the other requires you to plug a wire into your phone. Also, wireless chargers offer no benefits over wired chargers? What about not having to plug your phone in? My car has a wireless charger and it's definitely more convenient to set my phone down on it versus having to plug and unplug it every time I get in and out.

When driving for a food delivery service (DoorDash, GrubHub, etc) where you're potentially in and out of your car a lot, the 'wireless charging' phone mount is super convenient. I have a higher quality version that mounts to the dash and I love it. I have to bring my phone in with me to verify/mark orders, so being able to just set and charge/go is great. It's not even about saved time, it's just the convenience. It looks like your team went with the cheaper one for budgetary reasons (which I totally get), but there are $30-$50 options that work very well and even support wireless fast charging (note that it's wireless charging to your phone, not a wire free mount). You need to really look at the reviews though because some of the cheap ones flop or don't charge well, as seen in this video. What did you really expect from a $20 mount with a 3 star rating though? Your team should've known better, which is a bit disappointing. If a follow-up is done in the future, definitely go for a higher rated option and give it a go (try the dash mount vs the vent mount too, as each has their pros/cons). Great video overall, but I do see your team did the SAME thing with a few items hoping they'd fail for content. Up the budget and you won't be as disappointed (maybe still a tad).

The heads up display works pretty much the same way as a factory hud. The windshield is actually specific if you have the option and when you get a new windshield and if they put the wrong one it doesn’t mirror the hud and you can’t see it. The display basically displays mirrored gauges and they are mirrored from the windshield so they are right side up when you look at it from the driver seat.

If you don't see the point in H.U.D., it's because you've never had a car with it, or one where it worked properly. My '21 Toyota Yaris hybrid came with it from the factory, and I absolutely love it! Drive mode, speed, cruise control info, lane assist info, current speed limit (based off road sign recognition) and eco-meter (or RPM's if you so choose, don't see the point with an eCVT transmission though), all directly in your field of view. On top of that, the bottom of the display shows urgent messages like risk of icy road conditions, low fuel warning, tire pressure warning or simply radio info when skipping songs or changing radio channel. All of this while keeping your eyes on the road ahed instead of the instrument cluster.

When you live in a country that has insane levels of speeding fines+points and an insane amount of speed cameras/average speed cameras where you literally have to look at your speedo more than the road such as in Australia, the HUD is very very useful, the one I have just plugs straight into the OBD2 port and sits on the dash and works well

Tip: put it on the last or second to last blade on the vent so that it doesn't drop down and it kept opening on you bc your finger was underneath. It has a sensor on the bottom and automatically opens so you can take it. So you were confusing it ;) i rate it 5 out of 5 for what it does.

The heads-up display GPS speedometer was a godsend for my JDM Cappuccino and R32 Skyline Gee-Dee-Arh. Both of which has the speedo in KPH. It displayed the speed in MPH for Americuh.

I use the same HUD in this video, only cost me $15 here. The biggest drawback is it has about 0.3s lag, and the reflection can’t be focused to the infinity faraway, but I quickly adjusted to it after days, and I never need to look at my dashboard anymore, now I can’t drive in race track without it. The lag problem is still a pain in the ass, especially if your car accelerates reasonably fast, like mine, 0-60 within 4s.

i spent my twitch payout one time on one of those car hud things, but mine has its own dedicated screen- it's not a windshield hud. i leave it on a setting that shows my speed, rpm, water temp, direction, and time. I mostly wanted it for accurate spead and water temp, and its one of the best products i've ever bought. whenever i get another car, its definitely being installed in the new one. Factory spedometers tend to read a little fast.

I've replaced the factory ones on a couple of VWs and an Audi with ones with the VW logo and the Audi logo.

Thats almost the same as my grandfather using a tennis ball on a string. I think the tennis ball method still works the best.

My 02 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP had a heads up display that worked well, and I actually liked it. Kind of miss it sometimes.
