Just to clarify In MAD MAX their is lots of gas, their is a town called gas town which is a oil drilling and refining station, they have more gas and oil than they do food or water and therefore bigger engine means faster car means you have a better chance to survive. # bloodyfist buddy I’ve been working on Honda’s for over 7 years and let me tell you no civic with original engine will do 200 mph, maybe 140 mph yes but in no way 200mph. Reply with a link of a civic doing 200mph on a stock engine and il believe you. I built a forged 1.8 liter vtec engine that did just barely 180mph and it was balls to the walls at 600+whp. Also in the mad max universe bigger engine is always better, if you knew any better or played any of the games no one even considers using 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder cars, they absolutely hate them, they all use v8s or sometimes even v16s. Il wait for your reply, take your time. You know your an idiot for thinking a civic with stock engine can do 200mph 😂

Raised Subaru outback with a modded engine maybe an engine swap for a reliable vokswagon v6 for speed. Bordered up windows, some steel panels and a bigger fuel tank. Easy to find, good at offloading great space in the back and could make it fast.

Naw a 80-96 Ford F-150 or F250 or Bronco would be better. Super reliable and dependable, easy to work on and tough. The electricians on the Subie would eventually fail making it useless and they'd use more battery than necessary. While the trucks may not have the best fuel economy you'll have to get gas eventually. Not to mention the bed is practical and you could put a turret back there and the trucks are great at off-roading.

I think the best vehicle for any apocalypse is not even a car, its a helicopter or a bush plane (assuming you know how to fly it) they can take off and land almost anywhere even on rough terrain, you're safe from zombies, raiders, and giant monsters, you can travel extremely long distances, and you can bypass obstacles like roads full of cars, collapsed buildings, road spikes, and walls The main issues with flying are fuel, knowing how to fly, and not crashing

Priuses are actually pretty great cars Edit: the transmission is brilliant, it uses a generator as a coupling instead of a torque converter or clutch, which allows it to charge the battery while accelerating instead of losing that energy to heat and friction, and it also doesn't use multiple gear ratios. afaik.. so it's not too complicated but its efficient and it's more reliable than belt based cvts.

I agree. However, they get about 3 mpg. Doesn't matter how ideal it seems, nor how big of a tank it has, when all sources of combustible fuels become scares immediately after the first break of chaos. All/any type of combustible fuel(s) will be the first depleted resource. Unfortunately, the best vehicle would be an extremely common, super simple, with an incredibly high mpg range. Preferably quite, too. In the end, you don't want to be seen nor heard.

Mad max is the best example of prime apocalypse vehicles. Old, mechanical, easy to fix and work on. Not some luxury fucking thing that needs a software update before you can drive it. I work on lots of CAT 797F’s, those would be dope but if something electrical goes down, its down for the count. But the sheer size and height would make a good base of operations.
