While I deeply sympathize with your *and Scott's statements, such a radical law would certainly deter many honest people from making an (from their perspective truthful) accusation like that, be it just publicly or via the legal system. For example, pedophiles on the internet - I've reported two of them to the FBI with all the evidence I was able to gather, and one of them, so claimed a former friend of that scumbag, was put on a watchlist of the FBI. So I guess one of those accusations I made was probably true. But what about the other? It's possible that, on some technicality, it wasn't actually a crime in the legal sense. If such a law existed back then, and I was aware of it, I may actually have reported neither of them, because of that lingering 1-10% of doubt. After all, I am well aware that I get things wrong a fair bit and landing on some FBI watchlist or sex offender registry doesn't sound appealing at all, and at least me being put on a registry as a consequence for a false accusation wouldn't make any sense. Of course intent really matters in the legal system and thank God for that, but how would anyone even begin to ascertain whether I was genuinely certain in the truth and validity of my accusation, or whether I just venting some anger, or really wanted to fuck with the one I accused? All those certainly could look exactly the same on the outside. Perhaps I am just ignorant and the legal system is amazing enough to arrive at the objective truth somehow despite the abundance of mud, but I certainly think it's more probable that they'd fall at least somewhat short of their goals, reminiscent of the Germans on the eastern front in WW2.

Not to mention police department hits squads. I have been witness to my brother in law beat down by 8 california sheriff's. After admitting him in 3 different hospitals he was then taken to jail and told they would wipe his record clean which was only traffic violations and that he wouldn't sue the sheriff's dept. and he told me while I'm jail that if I don't stop threatening the d.a. and sheriff's dept that he won't get out alive. My hands were tied at this point. I was followed by under cover narcs and when I went to a lawyer I was advised to seek a lawyer outside of california because no lawyer living in the same state wanted to go up against law enforcement. A few months later after that beating my brother in law died. And I had several witness that saw this. Until today this still haunts me and I'm a veteran who has seen combat. If you think I have potty for those officers your crazy. Just because the video cam doesn't show anything, you're an idiot. That's why cops don't give up those video cams until they edit them. I personally had a dui where I wasn't over the limit but taken in anyway. The officer gave me a breathalyzer test. It didn't register over the limit, he then told me to take another deep breath and breath into the tube again. This time it registered but only because he didn't clear the machine. He was supposed to clear the machine not let it multiply. Our law enforcement is nothing more than a gang with with a license and badge to kill. You need to stop covering up for these corrupt cops.
