Winter Bushcraft, fire blower, spruce glue and hammocking in a spruce forest.
I am making a fire blower out of a piece of pine. To hold it together I am making some spruce glue.

I'm here because of Mr. Bertram-Nielsen. Love to watch these dudes. Sometimes I think they would be the only ones surviving WW3. Watching this is not only educational but also very relaxing. This is true freedom and independence. This is how people used to live for thousands of years and were so much better. Everything now is sterile and devoid of nature. I really would like to spend my free time like this.

This man is just absolutely amazing! The entire video was both relaxing and extremely interesting. The sheer ingeniousness of everything he does is mesmerizing. That chair! That fire screen! And that insanely crazy glue, whoa. I stumbled across his videos by accident and immediately subscribed and am about to find another one to watch. I loved the rain on the tarp at night.

I've watched 1000s of bushcraft videos an this is the first one to utilize a "troll tube". I have lived in the wild off an on for 30 years and a troll tube among my most utilized possessions, keep one next to my woodstove as well. The one in my pack is recycled from a Wal-Mart camping chair.

Inspiring, informative, and beautiful as always @DonVonGun Is the deer droppings in the glue mix to stop it from cracking in cold temperatures? I know when I made the birch bark canoe with Tom Byers he always mixes bear fat in his spruce pitch for that reason. Is this the same idea?
@DonVonGun
@DonVonGun 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you TT :) The droppings is made of plant fibres, and is added to strengthen as a binding material. Fat is used in glue to make it flexible. :)

At 4:45 you attached Wooki underquilt foot end to the "Buckle" of the tree strap, while you attached Wooki head end to hammock gathered-end (which is right). I guess you might have had cold feet due to the way you attached Wooki foot end to the buckle not hammock gathered end.

Hi DonVonGuy, do you have a video on how you built your chair at the 3:00 mark? Looks like a great improvement over the more common camp chair design that feature two horizontal crossmembers? I am not exactly sure what you are writing. Google says its a lot of work for a cop of coffee but you will copy the fork? ...what fork?

There is a highway 2 -3 km. behind the tarp. Unfortunately we have way more agriculture than nature in DK. You can hear cows at one point as well. :/

Charred blood sausage with sugar in it. Never seen that before, is it common in Scandinavian countries?
@DonVonGun

I am not sure if they use sugar in the rest of Scandinavia, but in Denmark its common. ...I think. I grow up with that. ...try it. ;)

I know nothing about making natural glue but why the addition of coal and feces to the resin? BTW it was painful to watch you burn your palms and fingertips :(
@DonVonGun
@DonVonGun 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. It was painful to experiment as well :) ...If you just wait a little while it can be handled without it hurts, but I had a hard time waiting. :D The coal makes durable, and reduce stickiness. The feces is made of mostly plant fibers and gives the glue binding material like you put grass in clay if you wanna build something outdoors. You can also ad animal fat or wax to make the glue more flexible. :)
