Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.
I have the largest Small Engine Repair Video Library on KZbin and the entire internet with over 1200 videos, just GOOGLE "DONYBOY73"!

One thing that should always be done when using helicoils is to locktite the helicoils themselves into the newly threaded/taped hole, especially in a chainsaw!!!

Great video. I bought an MS661 that leaked oil from a bar stud and had metal shavings in the oil tank. And when I removed the bar to investigate, the bar stud came out instead of the nut. The person that did the heli-coil should have watch this video. Why blue locktite (removable) instead of red (permanent)? Also - surfaces must be clean and free from oil for maximum holding of locktite.

Great Video I shall know what to do if I ever come across the same problem.I have been looking for a video on tank vent and fuel tank information for stihl 038 magnum but cannot find any video nor any information elsewhere. Just wondering if you could help answer these questions.Whilst doing a vac test should the vaccum hold for a little bit then go down?also what about pressure should the fuel tank hold constant pressure? or should it hold for a little bit then slowly drop down? I have three 038 magnums One saw wont hold pressure or vacuum cannot pump it up at all. The other saw holds pressure constant and leaks down with vacuum. Then the other saw when pumped to 7psi will come down to zero in about 70seconds both on pressure and vaccum. Thanks for your videos any help much appreciated.

As usual another fine job Dony. On another note, considering that the saw is a rental, its ghastly looking cosmetic condition doesn't surprise me. Some folks just don't have any clue of how to take care of equipment, or just don't care. I say that because my 27 year old Stihl 025 not only works as good as the day I bought it, but it also almost looks as good.

Doesn't work on Poulan. The studs appear to be made into the plastic. I love my Poulan but that is a stupid design. I dont buy overpriced shit like Stihl because I've always found I could get the job done with cheaper brands. And Im not crazy about paying high prices foe replacement parts just because of the brand name. People can make the argument that its better quality but I don't see it

A spiral flute tap would pull the swarf out of the hole as it was tapped. Of course that would add to the manufacture’s cost which ultimately raises the cost to the end user and you can’t just use a spiral flute tap you would be able to purchase separately as taps for helicoils cut oversized to accommodate the insert. Too bad it’s always about money.

I thought Stihl cases were magnesium not aluminum?? Love that stick LOCTITE 248. Easy to apply and doesn’t drip everywhere. If not used often it will form a top crust that’s easy to pull off. I’ve use Time Certs to fit small holes on the cases and even the muffler mounting holes on a 200t with good success.

Thank you for all your helpful videos Don. I have two questions if I may ask... Is it worthwhile putting some lock-tight on the helicoil itself? And, you mentioned that you purposely refrained from drilling straight through to the oil chamber... would it be really an issue if the drilling went right through? PS.
