The roll the die up to 8 times is a pretty nice fix. Gives the unpredictability they were going for but also an ultimate, and easy to implement, timer for the whole thing.

I think rolling a standard die until you get a total of 10 or 12 would be a good change.

hmm a quicker pictomania, but the chaos of pictomania is appealing to me.

We bought this game in Essen and it's been a success with everyone, especially non-gamers. The die rolling is not great indeed, but the roll 8 (or maybe even 5) times and it's a yes would be a good solution.

Surprised this still managed a 7 with that die mechanic. That totally turns me off to this game. Thanks for the review, Zee!

With a few blank dice and some stickers, what seems like the most obvious issue for most people can be fixed with a few more dollars and a house rule, but it's definitely an off-putting mechanism as published out of the box. This looks like it would go over well this holiday with the extended family all together for the first time in a couple years, but sadly it's not yet available in the US and the cost of shipping from Europe plus the house rule would push this to a $60 game, so I'll be waiting on it.

Doodle Rush VS Doodle Dash which one?

What if there were multiple of that die? Then the player finishing second would roll one die, then two, then three each time it fails. Then chances would increase with each roll. And also if they were acrylic not wooden.

This is like a simplified take on another more obscure drawing party game, Pix (simplified in that in Pix you're forced to draw in a grid with pixels, whereas this is normal drawing). But the similarity that I really enjoy in Pix is the whole 'if I draw with fewer pixels, I'll get to be guessed first; but if I'm too simplistic, it won't be enough and the other players will get to show theirs' and that combination of the guesser's second guess and additional information with presumed more precision/detail. Love Pix and wish it got more love.
