If I had to wager a guess, the reason the colors are a lot less vibrant in their advertising picture is because they're using their "official" crayola watercolor pads ( which is literally just printer paper >:P ) and you guys are using good watercolor paper , which actually absorbs the pigment nicely! It's really nice to still see you guys posting after all these years. Monster High dolls are super cool, I never knew they had a character with autism, and Steph's art of Twyla is so cute. I also really love the water reflection affect Adam got with the hair, it looks really nice! :)

oh for sure, ive often heard that the paper used makes much more of a difference than the watercolors themselves. the way itd just be sitting on top of it using the printer paper... shutters

I just said that too. Watercolor paper makes a big difference. I just got water colour felt tip markers. And they tear up regular paper I can hardly wait to get watercolour paper to try them properly.
@terahmichelle4163 ай бұрын
Yeah I just bought the Crayola water color and marker pad bc it was on sale and I wanted to try it out. I can't even use markers lightly on it bc it wrinkles, bunches up and bleeds so bad. I ended up giving it to my daughter who does pencil & ink only. As the other person stated, it is really cheap printer paper. I wanna try the pop & paint now. It looks fun. Love the art you all made and thanks for the review.😊❤

twyla's VA is autistic too! I remember tiktoks of her signing lil post it notes with positive messages and her autograph and putting them on the back of twyla dolls at her local target. she's a beautiful soul.
@craftyhobbit76233 ай бұрын
I find that of the 'cheap' non-artist quality art supplies you can get, Crayola is the best quality. I love using their colouring pencils and before I started using them, I was frustrated with the colouring pencils from places like the Works, so I will always have a soft spot for Crayola products.
@louisacoote23373 ай бұрын
I like the Crayola felt tips that come in a set of 25,50 or 100 colours. Lots of pretty and useful colours, and not too expensive. The Colours of the World felt tips are pretty cool too. I do have some brush point felt tips (Tombow brand?) that I absolute adore, but they are so expensive!
@DoveJS2 ай бұрын
I have a soft spot for them as well but it does make me sad the Crayola standard colored pencils don't really blend (I've managed to get roughly three light layers but that's it and they don't truly blend.) Still pretty good for kid grade stuff! They absolutely defeated Rose Arts back in the day. If you're in the US I've seen Tombow's 36 set of kid colored pencils at Target site for so low, it's the big yellow tin, as well as a smaller Faber Castell set of Goldfaber watercolor pencils in a carrying case for crazy below market (which have semi-bad reviews from people who don't understand how to use the spray bottle it comes with.) I'm dearly tempted to get both but I can't justify it rn since I'm broke and I'm not even using the ancient stuff I still have lol. There's also a bunch of really nice kid/student sets I've seen over Blick; I really wish I knew about or had those options as a kid. They've got Crayola too ofc!

16:11 I WOULD BUY!! steph just can't see the awesomeness of her art because shes the one that makes it, and artists always see that as a flaw "oh i made this so i hold it to a different standard", just like what she said at 17:07 ! Its something artists automatically do, but maybe if steph knows how much we all love her art, then maybe she can look at it with a little more love!! You guys do amazing!! Such different styles but i love them both very much!!

I have watched the Netflix cartoon and like how diverse the cast is: Frankie is non binary ( they/them pronouns) and has a prosthetic limb, Ghoulia is introverted/possibly autistic and there is a lot of diversity when it comes to race and body type ( Draculaura is short and curvy, Cleo is tall and willowy, Clawdeen is African-American…).

Got some Monster high dolls but am unsure if I should keep or give away to an artist? Got Draculaura ? And Clawdeen??? Got the one for free and Draculaura arrived naked found her a little doll dress of an other doll brand she happened to fit into so that’s good, it is also pink so it suits her hair. Clawdeen was a 5 euro find along with a little doll sofa in her original outfit. I rather don’t really want to give them to kids (I mean sure I could but they won’t stay so pretty for long then unless it’s a careful kid) The dolls are currently staying on a bookshelf sitting on the edge with each other. (So the sofa isn’t even used atm) The paint set doesn’t look all too bad for a simple watercolour paint. Did always think of crayola kind of like how Adam does but quite enjoy what you both made from it. Also know the goosebumps from textures my sister and I both too.

Fun to see pigment papers get more love! There's others out there now, but I'm most familiar with the Peerless watercolor sheets. People could absolutely refill the palette with them, just make a template and cut the pigment papers into the same shape. Though definitely not gonna be as washable as Crayola!

Interesting there is n pink leaning red. Seems very limiting. It’s nice to have a palette for kids who are keen on ‘grown up art’ but don’t yet have the motor control for fiddly little palettes, because they can have the satisfaction of moving their colours around etc. And then when it’s used up, there would be nothing stopping you getting some kid safe watercolour tubes like reeves and making some home made refills in whatever colours you wanted on a bit of thick Yupo paper.
@DoodleDate3 ай бұрын
Even though you cannot get refilled once theyre used up, you can totally customise this with your own paints for sure. the palette is actually really well made! :D

Hullo Adam&Steph, Yes her work is book worthy! In fact I believe that I have some of your books already! I am thinking as I watch this video roll, this palette is very kid friendly! In fact if your kid does love it, perhaps you and Steph are falling for it as well? I believe that you can replace the Crayola paint disks with Viviva or Peerless watercolor sheets! You can cut out circles from the sheets and pop them into this Crayola palette! It is a little wasteful of the color sheets but if you want to encourage continuity you can easily upgrade your paint disks and you can then create truly lovely artworks! Thank you for once again sharing your time, thoughts and paintings with us!

Wow, I have to say, the paper quality seems to be much more important than the paint quality! These both look so much better than anything I do on more crappy paper with Kuretake Gansai Tambi or Sonnet! I also hate how the ads show kids painting on the super thin paper that gets ruined immediately, the only reason I never liked using paints as a kid was because of the thin paper getting all sad and soggy!
