In my opinion, the best way to enjoy the original doom games is with a controller and retropie/raspberry pi hooked to a crt. I specify the pi because the pi has native analog output through the 3.5mm jack so no converter needed and the retropie distro has a solid port of doom. Crt definitely makes the graphics look better, adds depth to it imo. Also the berserk pack boosts your melee damage for the entire level, not just while the powerful is active

you should play tnt and ploutonia if you really want to prepare those are the hardest doom games
