Honestly, the radio chatter when the invasion first starts is something I still go back to and relisten to on youtube, and even play on steam from time to time. The gunfire, the panic and the slow, steady dying down of the resistance over comms drives home how fast the invasion wiped out most of the bases personnel.

I use to think of this game like die hard in space.. with every imp I put a shell into I thought.. yippee ki yay mfr.. first time I beat this game my granddad sat up all night watching me play it on the big screen in their living room helping with puzzles and laughing every time I got mad at the game.. game holds a spot in my heart fr.

7:40 The fun part is... you can kill Ross during the prologue and Scotty will have a unique voiceline for that situation. I like that Doom 3 has a lot of these subtle choices that let you roleplay as a psychopath marine who is dangerous to others even without being possesed by demons. If the canonical marine is sent to Mars because he refused to execute civilians, then maybe this "phycho" marine was sent there because he HAS executed too many and the higher-ups decided to cover it by sending him as far away as possible.

This moment really left a mark on me as a kid. The fact that he was likely standing next to you looking at his own corpse, not knowing what else to do but beg for some sort of a salvation from this nightmare. His cries falling on deaf ears as you're unable to offer any sort of help.

I was 7 in 2004 when my dad got Doom 3 on his PC. I would watch from afar on his night sessions with eyes half covered. But I was fascinated by it. I drew some comics based on the game where I took the story in a different direction and different survivors went places.

This game, along with STALKER, are about the only games I read EVERYTHING. I looked up where PDAs were, computers, notes - everything to just get a taste of more lore. The DnD game that was being played and the guy cheating. The recounts of going to Hell by scientific teams.. Sooo good. I would love it if they made more Dooms like this, set it up like you are a casual marine on the front, while Doom Guy is in stasis when Earth is invaded.

It’s not Doom 3 without scattered survivors. I’ve been intrigued by them for years. The panic in the radio, the pleads for help, the helplessness… Their fate contributed much to Doom 3’s horror. I’m glad this video is made about them. Most KZbinrs focused on what’s popular about Doom 3. But you focused on the doomed survivors, and the rare lucky ones who are not the Slayer. Their stories, though brutal, deserved to be told. Awesome video. You earned a subscribe from me.

The Lost Mission felt weird. There were some interesting moments, one good scare (the imp appearing behind you in the corridor got me good), but the rest... meh, it's bland. All the locations are reused stuff that just feels like big chunks placed without much care. Hell was good-looking but too bright. It felt more like a mod than an official expansion.

It's one hell of a game. If it's your first time, I suggest playing the original and not the BFG edition. There are some settings you'll have to adjust to make it look good, but there are plenty of tutorials on the internet for that.

I played Doom 3 on PC back in the day. I had to upgrade it just to play the game. The game was a new step back then and its influence is still going on today. I love “Dead Space” and even back in 2008 I felt the Doom 3 atmosphere

At the very end of the main game, it was clearly stated that Marine and Betruger were the sole survivors of the whole thing. Therefore, all of the other characters you encountered and whose fate was left unknown did not survive.

I really wish it were my voice, but no, the ones used in my videos aren't mine. I'm creating the script then use a service for the voice over and then edit everything together. So everything else is me but the actual voice. ^^ And I agree. A lot of those characters die because of the player getting involved.

@@AdamTheCoop1 Doom 3 was my first Doom game. I then discovered Doom 1, but it was the third one that really hooked me. I played that game so much. I wrecked the first 3 levels of the demo; I borrowed it from my friend (yeah, the 3 discs, haha). I finished it on my mom's G4 Mac, on the original Xbox, and on PS3 when the BFG edition came out. Once I got my own PC, I finished it multiple times, both original and BFG edition again... I just can't get enough of that game. 😅So, yeah, I've spent quite a bit of time thinking about those characters. But I also did a lot of research and discovered things I wasn't even aware of.

This was a fun video to watch. :) However, I have my own head canon about most of the survivors actually being able to escape the forces of Hell. Yes, the documents state that no one survived the Hell Invasion of the Mars Base, but The Lost Mission clearly shows otherwise. Bravo (The name I gave to the Solo Bravo Team survivor) was able to get himself and Dr. Richard Meyers in contact with the Darkstar dropship and get to safety. I like to believe that Richard was able to spread word to any survivors still in the Base to make to the location where the dropship where a fully armed team was waiting. Who is to say that the few survivors we saw throughout the game maybe made their way there, but just as you stated, their fates were classified by the U.A.C.

Playing the excellent "Lost Mission" I fully expected some BS anticlimactic "and then you died" ending since Doom 3 clarified Doom Guy was the only survivor. Like Opposing Force. Instead I got the ending to Blue Shift 🤠

I'm almost at Episode 3 in one of the best Doom 3 mod expansions (Phobos) and I'm sad I haven't meet anymore survivors outside Ep. 1 :( Though even that was set right before the events from Doom 3 and Hell literally breaking lose so... Atleast I got to meet my favorite NPC's like the alcoholic marine wanting a cig and the engineer saying he'll get the elevator running 'hell or high-water' though before everything went to...well...hell xS I remember an expansion mod, of a mod for Doom 3 Perfected, that had alot of Marine survivors/teammates pretty much throughout the Doom 3 Campaign and RoE, you needed to work with them to get them to survive and they'd eventually follow you but it was pretty cool as an aside, it was like "wow theres actually others that are normal like me surviving" like you'd expect Good stuff, jump scares don't work aswell when you've 3-6 other NPC marines behind you lolz (I still don't know how they managed to make friendly AI NPC'S with animations, maybe using the Sentry but that still must of took so much work)

I remember Doom 3 as my favourite game of all time. My favourite Doom before Doom Eternal. The game was an absolute gem, playing as a kid, year after year, as I matured. As I heard and read, this game is one of the least liked Doom title unfortunately, yet this my favourite one. Imagining a Doom game as a horror action game, was allways a close thing to my heart.

Doom 3 is such a good action horror. I like the newer Dooms well enough, and the old ones were fun when I was a kid, but Doom 3 stand all on its own amongst its peer Doom games. It feels a lot like Dead Space, which thankfully got the good reception it deserved unlike poor Doom 3.

Even though it’s the best version of Doom made, What makes no sense about Doom 3 is: if all the Marines are getting possessed, why doesn’t the player? And why does Kelly not get possessed until later?

They kind of explain this in Doom 2016 with the Lost Souls. Their data files say that they dash toward a target to explode and possess them but only weaker-minded beings. :)

I remember there was someone hiding in a locker in one of the missions, either Doom 3 or the other missions. Not locker C4, but approaching one of the yellow lockers in the underground area where you go diving someone is hiding and stuffed in a locker.

This suddenly made me understand that other than this and Quake 4 I don't recall any "horror" game that is set during the "collapse" event. I mean we usually play during the aftermath, rarely during the "before" actual collapse, but it's so damn rare to play during the actual event happening. Even Dead Space is set in the aftermath for instance, Callisto Protocol shows a glimpse of before and then it's aftermath all the way and every single zombie game is set after the collapse. Man, I suddenly yearn for the horror game set during the collapse.

I'm still surprised I managed to finish this game, it was f****** terrifying back in 2004.
