In 2508, the human race would reach for the stars in a desperate attempt to feed their massive resources hungry empire. But not everything in space is so keen on helping humanity. The USG Ishimura attempts to crack a planet down for resources, only for something on the planet to awaken and fight back. In space, nobody can hear you scream.

The way the necromorphs get onto the Ishimura is borderline comedy; there are three crewships of survivors from the colony, they refuse to return to the planet's surface so the Ishimura opens fire on them. 1.)They completely destroy the first crewship which is full of innocent people 2.) They clip a second crewship causing it to crash into the Ishimura killing many of the innocent people on board 3.) But the third? It gets through to the Ishimura's hanger no problem, and who's on the third ship? A corpse, a necromorph, and an infector. These clowns destroyed EVERY ship except for the one that was the actual threat.

The true "Maritime Horrors" from the Ishimura weren't the events that led to its destruction: it was the fact that the ship's captain didn't steer the ship directly into the nearest star to purge the horrors onboard, as well as the fact that the horrors were able to escape and spread across the galaxy.

I know it's almost two weeks later but you're both correct. The Chief Science Officer AND the Captain where both Unitologists. They differed in opinion regarding the marker and its effects though. Captain Mathius is the person who had the marker brought on board the Ishimura (against Dr. Kyne's wishes, I might add) so it's fair to lay much of the blame at his feet for the events which took place afterwards. Dr. Kyne meanwhile actually tried to sabotage the Ishimura in an attempt to destroy it, the shut-off engines and fuel systems that Isaac had to fix in the game were his doing.

@Rockwood1407
@Rockwood1407 Жыл бұрын
@@friendlyreaper9012 there's also so many smaller stories you can tell well within the world of Deadspace... Like this one. There are larger, longer stories that would be great as a series, and great smaller ones that would fit perfectly as a 2 hour movie. Meanwhile with 40k you almost neeeeed something like a series or movie trilogy. Even the small stories require a ton of context and world building to not be completely ridiculous and beyond over the top. Imagine trying to explain Orks vs anything within 2 hours. There are Space Marines that use 80's style electric guitars to sound blast their enemies. And then there are demon versions of em 🤣. You couldn't cover any single battle or major event well because they all involve 10 factions of complex and confusing origins. Someone could water it down and simplify quite a bit for a more palatable tone, but imo that defeats most of what makes 40k unique. It's a lore that is very self reliant, and really builds on itself. Cutting that out would just make it basic fanfic scifi. That being said... A 40k Netflix series could dive into enough different stories and settings to build up something believable.

@@friendlyreaper9012Eh 40k can work in any media form if done right. I'd like to think a show that simply follows a group of Hive city inhabitants as it is slowly overrun by chaos cultists could be amazing. It doesn't need to cover the entire Imperium. Keep it smaller scale, make that grimdark atmosphere correctly, and I'll be happy

I always thought the large morgue was for an actual practical reason. The unitologists didn't want to be cremated or buried for religious reasons. So the bodies were to be sent to the church after death. Considering how popular unitology had become, it made sense to me that ships of this era would have larger facilities in case of a large accident and the need to move a lot of bodies back.

In both Dead Space 1 and 2 the Ishimura always just creeped me out. That ship and it's small enclosed spaces, even though it was massive in total size, and the overall eerie vibe it gave off; It was one of very few things that actually has the ability to make me 'very wary', when enjoying the content of it's series. actually the ishimura was the first ship to employ asteroid harvesting tech. unless they changed that for the remake after learning that planet cracking is the DUMBEST way to get resources.

How so?
@Irobert1115HD
@Irobert1115HD Жыл бұрын
@@XH1927 because the ammount of energy require and ship enginnering required to crack a planet would make EVERY single crack a total waste of money. one of the reasons is that you actually need to go realy deep to get a ''good'' haul due to heavier and more valuable stuff being found closer to a planets core. in a asteroid you have even distribution wich means that even a rather small asteroid would be worth more than a entire cracked planet.

I think you should consider doing Space Station 13 for an April fools in the future. It would certainly be difficult due the the nature of the game, with the station's demise playing out differently in every round played. But a station destroyed by a mix of wizards, cultists, terrorism, and good old incompetency all at once just sounds fun.

The haunting final transmission from the Ishimura: “Now… I die.”

Some still say that a transmission from Ishimura does transmit "This is the USG Ishimura, we lost our bearings, this is the USG Ishimura, I repeat we have lost our bearings. Mayday!" Then the transmission just cuts out and the radio is fried as a result upon receiving transmission.

I adore your April Fools episodes! I think I initialy found your channel through the Pillar of Autumn video, then started slowly munching through your backlog of various Earth ship videos. I'd forgotten that you had done the April Fools videos, too, so this one was even a surprise 😅

Love this! Two technical critiques: a supernova would destroy the entire solar system, and you talk about the orbits of space ships like they have buoyancy. That's a cool perspective but the reality of orbital mechanics is even cooler!

What no one tells you about the USG Ishimura is that there's a living god onboard, invulnerable to harm while rumors abound that the Marker can vanish at leisure. At least on my go, had a dude A pose, break scripting and become untouchable, I was in tears for 10 mins. Then the Marker later bugged out of existence after the final Hunter fight, thank god reloading the save worked else it'd have been a full restart. Great vid tho, perhaps the story of the Orca next time?
