Doom 64 - The easiest way to beat the Mother Demon (WITHOUT UNMAYKR)

This looks like a really cheap way to beat the final boss, but I did it without using the Unmaykr on her. The Mother Demon's rockets are guided towards you, but you might need some dodging to do. I just found an exploit 😂

This chapter of Doom is epic but this final boss is one of the most broken final boss that i never challeging. thanks for this exploit, without that i think that is unbeatable withoud extremely luck and a lot of hardcore stuff

This was extremely helpful. I was getting super frustrated, and was considering either restarting the entire game and getting all of the Demon Keys, or just skipping the boss entirely and moving onto the Lost Levels. But I didn't want to skip it, because that would just be dumb, and I didn't want to restart, because that would also be dumb, and it would make the wait for playing DOOM 2016 even longer (I'm playing through the entire series in order, minus DOOM 3)

One of the easier ways if you cant get a good position is moving diagonally, the way the momentum works moves you faster than the projectiles, and you can outrun them and make them hit other objects. Do this continually and whenever the Mother rests, fire at her with whatever you have available and run away diagonally whenever she starts up her attack again.

I can beat this legit because I have just played it so much but this is actually a pretty great discovery. I never really thought about the fact that the Mother Demon wouldn’t really move if she kept firing; plus the switches are perfect cover from the attacks.

The most consistent and way to win without this exploit is to keep a far distance from her and use rockets and when she fires homing missiles, hide behind one of the monster closets

@@searingscar8058 Close range BFG also kills her with just 2 hits, although that can give her the chance to inflict a lot of damage. Still, that's my preferred method, unless I'm going for a damageless win, in which case rockets and ssg work well.

Definitely agree - those lost souls are a pain in the arse so it’s best to take out the Caco Demons first. The rest can just be strafed and shit with rockets, save the BFG for the queen.

Just a disgusting boss! After a dozen attempts, I completed it as shown in this video. It's disgusting! How could you do this at the end of the game??? Thank you! Also, which difficulty is this? I was able to beat her on Bring It On by simply running into her and spamming the BFG (picking up the soul sphere after the second or third blast), but I doubt you'd be able to tank enough damage to do that on higher difficulties 🤔

It doesn't matter, unless it's Be Gentle!, which halves damage (which it's not here, as proven by the bad rng roll from the homing missile). Monster placements (the only thing affected by skill levels in this game aside from BG halving damage) remain the same in this level regardless of the chosen skill.

The way I did it, and I did it by accident after dying to her numerous times, is that I put her between the arena's walls and the back wall of one of the boxes where the demons come out from. Her broken red tracking missile attacks could not even turn to come towards me as they kept hitting the walls and exploding, so the only thing I had to worry about was her fire attack. She is honestly one of the most broken bosses in gaming, I thought the Icon of Sin was bad (Still is).

The boss is designed to encourage you to seek out the demon keys and fully power the unmakr. So the design works for what it was supposed to do but it's not so great for anything else. It's basically stepping right back into the same problem of the Spider Master mind from the original: impossible to have a straight fight so the only ways to win are through cheesing it so it dies with little satisfaction or hiding and sniping it from cover, which is tedious.

I completed the level by running backwards around the outside edge whilst firing at the gang of monsters, and when the mother turns up, hide behind the same barrier, but strath backwards and forwards in the beat of the rockets, using the double barrel shotgun. Easy.

To be fair, the mother demon can be dispatched with the BFG pretty easily, if you hit her at point blank and still have a decent stack from the fight before. The first blast will trigger a pain state, and the second will finish her off, if most or all of the tracers from the BFG hit.

@@camerontaylor2184 Range matters with the bfg. About a half-second after the projectile impacts, a 90 degree wide spread of tracers is emanated from the player in the direction the ball was fired. You need to be close to her about a half second after the ball detonates to maximize the BFG's damage. Spamming BFG from a distance won't work.

All it took is 4xBFG and I destroyed the boss super easy. The enemy are simple too I ran in circle and started infighting. It looks unbearable/frightening but in fact quite simple.

​@Guts363 Only one it would matter for is skill 1 (I think it's "be gentle," but I haven't played 64 in a while and I'm used to skill 1 being "I'm too young to die."). Skill 1 halves damage that the player recieves. Skills 2-4 are identical in this map.
