Many covers can capture the emotion that Sign of Evil packs. Others can turn it into something more upbeat. What you have done is something else. That E1M8 feeling is amplified tenfold, and turned into something completely beyond anything I've ever heard. This is easily the best remake of Sign of Evil that I've ever heard, and I don't think it will ever be topped. It doesn't matter how many people are in the room with me, this song makes me feel alone.

Definitely one of the most stellar covers of the original Doom soundtrack - and with twists here and there :) The soundtrack of PSX Doom ports are worth listening, too, they're dark ambient with eerie soundscapes that truly contribute to the primal atmospheric fear that the Doom game series compels, especially the hellish levels.
@Legally_John3 жыл бұрын
@@pistool1 The PSX and N64 soundtracks are great too. I've heard people say they don't fit Doom, but even the original soundtrack wasn't all metal, with tracks like Demons on the Prey, Opening to Hell, and of course Sign of Evil paving the way for that take on Doom.

There's only two games that left such a deep permanent imprint on me, that I look apon its levels with the same nostalgic comfort as a childhood home.. Dark souls (Lordran), and Doom/Doom II. I was playing doom since I was 5.. Maybe it'll be one of the last games I play.. And that'd be just fine by me.

@@ShreddingDragon Nothing like just beating a horde of demons by the skin of your teeth, realizing you forgot a key or switch somewhere, and just backtracking through the swathes of corpses you left behind.. You just don't get that feeling in any other game BUT doom.. That feeling of being reminded just how badly you wrecked this place.. That feeling of pride, comfort, and safety. All your hard work, so neatly displayed all before you to walk past as you tour the level for some extra pickups or a key. That's partly what made doom such a comforting experience.. The backtracking was never frustrating, because of the display of corpses you'd left behind, so you never felt 'forced' to get familiar with the terrain.. It was a fully organic side-effect of the process. Same with darksouls.. You never felt 'forced' to backtrack, and whenever you did, it was never unpleasant to do, and gave you time to really 'settle in' to the environment.

He chose the path of perpetual torment. May the blood on his sword never dry, and we never need him again. Wait a minute, near the end I heard a bit of III. Dakhma in the background. Nice dude

I just discovered your channel the other day, and after having listened to this song a dozen times since, I have to finally comment. This is an incredible take on this song. It is bittersweet in every meaning of the word. You fought so hard, and after all you have done, you are finally victorious. But you haven't achieved anything. Nothing came of it. Beautiful work, dude! \m/

That's so beautifully said. Bittersweet is the finest word I've heard to describe what the melody of Sign of Evil sounds like. Thank you for your kind words man! 🤘🖤

This is an absolutely amazing cover, from the first second all the way to the last, and showcases such a passion for the original track and the game itself. I absolutely love it, and wish there were more covers of this caliber on youtube for classic Doom songs. Keep up the amazing work, because you've got some serious talent!

Thank you so very much for that. I will. It's been a while now, but once life calms down a bit, more will be on the way. I love Doom and its music, and I have plans for many covers.

This is one of the best covers of this song I ever heard.
