I think Davoth really did find the secret to immortality, but he is reborn again and again, each time fated to kill and slaughter. It's his curse. And when he seeks an end to it, death flees, and he is reborn into the same nightmare again. The Doom Slayer IS Davoth, a version of him born in another time. Destroying the Father's Soul Orb was a compulsion, a geas, from Doom Slayer's time as Davoth. Now the circle comes to a close, and he is his own worst enemy.

This repeating Revelations verse seems be some kind of Slayer metaphor: shall seek death = go against the entire Hell. Death shall flee = the only thing they fear is you. In the resurrection ritual contest, this probably refers to the soul extraction into a life sphere as "death" and "desire to die" means to preserve oneself in a life sphere. Khan sees all - maybe referring to the Father's nature as the progenitor of Khans, thus as the supreme Khan. Genesis 1 3 - maybe it is the prophesy of the Slayer taking the Dark Lord's life sphere. Through the peace we guide the lost - the Seraphim' nature as the closest servants of the Father. The Dragon - maybe a metaphor for the return of the Dark Lord. He separated the light from darkness - the two Slayers, one good, one bad. He hath delivered them to the slaughter - Davoth actions endangering the universe.

@@TylerSane5 Actually space exists, i prefer to think of it as this, God made the big bang occur, "Let there be light" and created the universe. We actually don't have the full story of the bible, for both Old and New Tesements as some of the books have been lost to time and age, but rather instead of us being the only life out there, as most fellow Christians believe, i believe that every world with sentient life was created by God, and the Bible, both old and new, just tells our story of our creation. Us rising from Dust may be a metaphor for our evolution, us rising from fish to human as if we rose from the Dust of our past selves. Really almost everything in the bible can have a scientific reason, just like i said with the metaphor thing. Though space does exist. How else can we see other planets and stars? I just pray you don't think the sun revolves around us and that we're in the middle of the universe. Or that we're a flat earth.

The people who complain about DOOM's seeming deviation from it's very very biblical roots need only to discover this channel and find that DOOM is still immersed heavily in it's roots. For example, Nekrovol is the tower of babel. It's evil and it's one of the only entrances to 'Heaven' just like the tower of babel was supposed to reach to the heavens.

Eh. The fact it's kinda the same schtick repeated on every image tells me it's mostly there "because it's cool," like a lot in Doom Eternal, than actual lore meant to be interpreted. There's a reason over the art we are given what in-game is meant to be the actual text of the pages. The concept artist just knew this would be cool and fans would enjoy finding out. Just as Davoth wanted to seek immortality, the cost was too great "The creation of hell" & as for the "death fleeing" part, it's not about the slayer, it's about the fact they cannot die, left in "perpetual torment". Immortality came at the cost of creating hell & the demons are the end result of "immortality".

I was really hoping there would be. But the same artist who did the Maykr text, said the Sentinel text was purely made for "aesthetic reasons". so no translation possible. Sources online say that this was said in a "conference". So I moved on from this topic ever since then.

Samur didn't want to be transfigured & lose his immortality it appears or he legit wanted to bring back the Father to help. Here's a thought, Samur initially wanted the Father to kill The dark Lord but the Father didn't. Now the Doom Slayer brought back the Dark Lord just to kill him & to contain all the demons from ever escaping Hell again. Samur was kinda right in wanting the Dark Lord killed initially but the motives might have been selfish.

Invoking judeo-christian mythology when it comes to demons is pretty much low-hanging fruit and ultimately disappointing. I prefer my Doom without the influence of real world mythologies, and I don't see anything wrong with just creating a separate mythology concerning the lore in Doom. In addition, demons exist in all kinds of other cultures and mythologies, why do people always have to refer to the judeo-christian nonsense? What that shows to me is a glaring lack of creativity and originality.

@@MidnightatMidian Doom has used Biblical references since the 90s. E2M8 Tower of Babel, all the level names in episode 4 were taken from Bible verses, it’s not a new thing

Because Christianity is the #1 most followed religion in the earth’s history. It’s history and lore are obviously going to influence a game about Good evil and god and the devil. You seem like you are bitching about nothing tbh. It’s completely original in how the story is told. Not sure we played the same game.
