Makes sense the pistol and rifle use the same ammo. In the books they mentioned they both are 10mm. The rifle was called the sig cal, I believe? Wish they would add a revolver like brutal Doom.

I read the books too, over 20 years ago. You're not only almost correct but possibly as Doom nerd as myself, a rare thing. The sig cal refers to the rifle the zombies use in Doom which is in The Slayer's home universe....not the same as the assault rifles in Doom 2016/Eternal.

I always wondered what purpose would those alt Crucible had, because they definitely wouldn't have let you use them as a melee weapon. Maybe they were just to show "Hey, your legendary sword was actually mass produced in hell. Look, there's even butter knife crucible!"

I liked the pistol in 2016, as the charged shot was really good for picking on imps, especially on in the game, it's a shame it wasn't in eternal, but i understand why with the movement mechanics being tied to the shotgun.

I wish the pistol was at least given to a different character in an expansion. Also, the crucible should've been a chainsaw instead of a sword. Also, that pistol animation is by elizabethany7143. Speaking of cut DE weapons: there's also art of a Sentinel weapon whose design is meant to resemble the Slayer mark.

Eternal's pistol was actually pretty cool, I really like its design and overall function, although I can see why it was removed. The canceled War Club also seems pretty interesting, I'll be covering that one in another short pretty soon. That pistol animation was posted on an id Software employee's artstation, are you sure it came from someone else?

The pistol concept looks really good but in the end the pistol was super useless in the Doom 2016. Yea it was cool but nobody really used it, except those videos that said can you beat Doom 2016 with just the pistol. The pistol design was definitely pretty sick. The Doom Eternal pistol design also looks extremely cool. But it would have just been a waste of space in the weapon wheel.

The Super Shotgun is your best friend in Doom 2016. It can effortlessly carry you through the entire game, so getting it fully upgraded should be a priority. Eternal is a bit different than 2016, go in with an open mind and a willingness to learn. You need to understand how the game wants you to play before you can truly succeed on your own, there's a certain level of mastery that will come naturally as long as you don't try to force your way around it
