@@Strawberry92fs Technically, the "chaingun" in Doom 1 was a minigun. id Software goofed and caused a huge ripple effect that humanity has yet to recover from. A chaingun doesn't even have multiple spinning barrels. It's pretty much a turret with one really, really long barrel. A minigun is what Doom calls a "chaingun". Meanwhile, a gatling gun is basically the same thing, but hand-cranked. The names are not interchangeable. People get these three mixed up all the time.

Calling all electrically powered gatling style rotary guns miniguns is like calling all bolt action rifles k98k mausers. The "Chaingun" in Doom uses the same ammo as the Beretta 92 that Doom Guy has, since he's USSMC and has a beretta, presumably the guns are in 9mm. the microgun is a gatling style electrically powered rotary gun in 5.56mm Nato, the Minigun is in 7.62nato and then you have things like the Vulcan Canon and the GAU Avenger. So if we're gonna be pedantic and insist that it's not a chaingun, it's not a minigun either.

Something amazing about this game that I don't usually see in games is that while watching your gameplay without commentary, I feel like I can see your whole thought process at every single moment of the game. Not a single moment looked like you were mindlessly using whatever weapon ended up in your hands. Very few movements looked out of place, and the ones that did seemed to be flowed up immediately with panic. This is probably the first singleplayer FPS I have ever seen played with intentionality.

“The Slayerhouse Five” is a reference to “Slaughterhouse Five” which is a novel by Kurt Vonnegut. It follows the story of a WWII former prisoner-of-war as he comes to terms with the trauma of having been captured, reconciling with concepts of free will and fate while wrestling with his Christian faith - if Christ is meant to stand for divine love, then why do Christians have the capacity to be so cruel? The religious commentary (among other things, like the mention of homosexuals being among the imprisoned in concentration camps) led to it being banned in a LOT of schools. Highly controversial stuff in the ‘60s - stuffy, prim, and prissy folks thought it was way too profane and obscene for children. It’s a solid choice to use as a parody on the Doom Slayer’s shelf 😂 If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it. If you don’t feel like reading, the movie adaptation is pretty damn good too!

I played Doom 2 when it debuted in September of '94 when I was 8 years old... & let me just say that the OG Doom/Doom 2 looked, to me, exactly how Doom: Eternal looks to u, w/today's graphics & gameplay elements!! Keep it simple and linear, and you can create a flawless experience. Too much clutter damages gameplay, spawns endless bugs, takes more time to make, and lowers the quality of everything in the game. Glad this game took the first option.

If it's as optimised as 2016, you won't really need to spend much money for this one either. After not playing first person shooters since Bioshock infinite, I upgraded my 9 years old rig like two months ago "to catch up on my game back catalogue" and I only bought the GTX 1650S graphics card for like $200. I'm still running the ol' quad core i5 2500K@4.3GHz with no hyperthreading and it still runs Doom 2016 @60 frames per second on 4k TV with all settings on ultra! If Doom Eternal runs 60fps on my 1080p monitor, I'll be a happy camper.

@@joehutchcraft1675 no, doomhunter is regular - he have no boss encounter mark on the corruption meter. Moreo marauder have glory kill the same as hellified soliders, so he is powerful but simple enemy - kinda dissapointing btw.

Implementing the dash ability was the best feature that ID could ever borrow from Shadow Warrior 2. You can see how many times it's used in the footage provided. This game is going to be a prime example of how perfect a franchise can become when the developers incrementally embrace and polish what works, while deconstructing and abolishing what doesn't . . . Thanks for the upload. I can already see the strategies beginning to form (until the denizens of hell intervene.)

No, you're right, it does. I think they're making Doom 64 a far greater part of canon, hence it being a preorder bonus. About damn time that game got some love.

The last blow rune is great training wheels for Nightmare and so is the one that slows down time in the air, especially combined with the one that increases air mobility. Once you master this game and upgrade your suit, abilities and weapons, even playing the last level on Nightmare makes you feel challenged and yet, as if you're a god toying with these demons like a cat does with a mouse. It's an amazing feeling, really. The upgrades can sound subtle and yet, make all the difference in the world. Fully upgraded ice, followed by two frag is amazing either for crowd control or for softening up tough individual baddies. My favorite method of dealing quick damage and assassinating high HP demons, is flaming meathook to set them on fire and close the distance, super shotgun blast, quick-switch to ballista and then super shotgun again. Repeat quick-switching and bypassing reload animations until they are cooked. I've whacked Tyrants like that before they could even salvo me with missiles. Against Tyrants, I do combine it with the ice and frag grenade combo though. The chain gun shield mod did come pretty handy for me in some situations, especially when fighting the Gladiator which throws a lot of attacks that are not too easy to block. The shield will block them. and the gun will dish out good damage. I've also taken out Archviles with a shielded chain gun, after softening them up with ice and frag.
