I stated this before on a different video by another creator named Acidglow. I think the story behind this is during the war when some of the sentinels sided with the Khan maykr. And if you look closely some of the demons are corrupted sentinels like the Marauder in Eternal.

I really respect Hugo and ID for remaking the combat system in each iteration of Doom. It takes guts to try something different every time, especially in a climate where many devs don't do this and just stick with what they've done in the past. It looks like this next game will be pretty awesome.

I was very disappointed with the arm blade. Even if it was just collected as a glory kill upgrade (more range, faster GKs etc.) I would've been much happier. Same with flame belch

I actually like the fact that he’s slower and stronger, it makes sense, he gets better with age, and he was younger here, most likely more angry, and brutal, wanting to stand and fight, after he was tricked in the 2016 game, he realized he needed to be better, faster, more agile, as standing and fighting, while doable, wasted too much time, plus being trapped in he’ll probably meant that while he could stay and fight all those years, he had to constantly be on the move, couldn’t stand and fight for every single battle but learn to be agile and run around to confuse them, they have the numbers, but he overwhelms them with pure blitzing

Same I love fast gameplay eternal and 2016 but I don't like make a hit and ran fight wit enemies but more take fight to there rang and face!. Eternal hit and run was logical strategy specially for gaining amo and health wit meathook and blood punch and hammer you have go to close range but always in last you back in fast hit and run. Be true some pros I see that having a such aggressive play style that always in full range and contact with enemies.

This flail looks a lot more like the Vampire Killer from Castlevania than a historical flail irl, and I love it! I really hope they add more melee weapons and combos to them like we see the Slayer doing in the trailer. In Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance there is a metal ball that you can attach to the whip that makes it almost identical to the flail here.

I'm not sure more powerful but I feel like the slower movement makes the damage you do feel more impactful, especially with the melee weapons. Pretty sure every version of the slayer is unstoppable. You can only delay the inevitable with this guy.

I think the slower pace will be a downgrade honestly. Loved being airborne two thirds of the time and perfecting quickswitching to a point where barely any guns were visible on screen for more than a fraction of a second lol. It was complicated to learn this kind of gamestyle but that was the point: mastering it was so utterly satisfying.

i noticed that when the slayer throws the shield at the revenant, it does not come back to him and he continues forward firing the plasma rifle/accelerator gun. i wonder if this means you have to manually call back the shield a la Kratos's axe in new god of war. could be cool to have punch combos weaved in with gun/melee weapon attacks!!!

Ideas for multiplayer. Doom TDA multiplayer with three modes: -Death match: with the civil war going on, the Night Sentinels and Marauders are constantly at each other's throats leading to constant skirmishes between the two factions. -Titan brawl: take control of either an Atlan mech or a demonic titan and go one-on-one against your opponent in a titanic boxing match. -Dragon racing: mount your dragons and prepare to race across vast battlefields while trying to take down your opponents in high octane bursts of speed.

I'm already in love with the sawshield. Doom 2016 and Doom:Eternal's biggest drawback (for me) was relegating the chainsaw to a single use emergency weapon, that you had to basically save for when you needed to top up your ammo or health. Changing that back to a weapon that you can use for regular attacks, and now can combo thanks it having more than one function, yeah that's gonna be some sweet catharsis!

i really hope if that if the gameplay is supposed to feel heavy and grounded that they double down on animation beyond eternal. this is super critical. that is what makes the player feel contact. the best example i can think of is the way doom guy lands in 2016 vs eternal. in 2016 when you land from a fall the screen shakes, and you are stuck for a split second. it feels totally different than eternal, when you land like a cat. everything has to animate as a slam and a boom. i also like the dash forward with the shield in the new trailer. instead of a dash, what it ought to be is that the saw shield works like a fan, since it spins like one, you could use it to push monsters and pull the player forward in a limited fashion, similar to the meat hook but not nearly as fast and op. i can see the doom guy flying up towards that revenant in a 45 degree angle and delivering a brutal melee crunching smash to his face or a fist through the torso. again, no zooming around an arena, just one heavy upward attack probably followed by a giant slam down. similar i suppose to the original devil may cry, not in gameplay, but move list wise.

about the glory kills I always thought it would be extra pleasant if we could actually finish and enemy with the weapon we are carrying like in eternal, if im swapping to ballista-rocket and go for an glory kill in a cacodemon why dont just take the balista or the rocket and do an animation with it it would be like the crucible but in glory kills and personally glory kills with the ssg or the combat sg would feel extremely great to watch

I have the feeling that id software wants to do a new ip but can't because to make money you need to use the same sucesful ip even if you don't add anything in the game that is new. I think id software weren't allowed or knew that it wouldn't be able to so they are making a new doom game in a way that is so diferent that it is like a new ip by adding more lore in the game or changing the way levels were made by making them more open.

I was worried about no meathook until I saw a parry system, which opens a few more doors in combat especially for a game that will make you a behemoth rather than a speed demon like in Eternal. I also am hoping that each gun will have love put into them as a couple guns like the plasma gun in Eternal didn't seem as necessary in combat situations, especially after you get the ballista.

Thank fucking god this game isn’t going to focus on air combat. Eternal basically requires you to be a twitchy cocaine fueled Tasmanian devil because of how fast everything was in that game. Watching some of the pros play and seeing them weapon swap 8 times in a second really made me dislike Eternal and the DLC really catered to those types of twitchy players.

I really hope there’s gameplay similar to the classic dooms in a modern light. I like being able to move slow, explore or play tactical - or run in and strafe around projectiles. One thing I did not like in 2016 or eternal is that I could not stand still

I'm guessing R1 is your flail (replacing grenades as a light AOE attack right in front of you), R3 is your kick which pushes enemies back and staggers the enemy (possibly revealing weak points that instantly kill when shot). Also if you look closely the Imp that is killed by the Rail Gun gets impaled onto a spike wall. That might be what instantly kills as the Rail will fly through several enemies and push them back. I think the player will be using the map hazards much more in The Dark Ages, aside from literally spiking demons with this new weapon. Possibly kicking demons into a spike pit, and otherwise using tools to push enemies around and either close (or create) some distance. In this game I think positioning is going to be so important: if Id Software learned anything from the Marauder it's to double down on enemies demanding the player pay attention to how a demon is moving and when to move in/back up

It's early BUT it looks like this Doom will be more towards a play style of press forward, quicker than Gears but not as hyper as Eternal; which I think I'll love! The skull crusher is aesthetically pleasing (even glyphs on the skulls!) I can't wait to hear it it process skulls and fire. Could be crunchy! And Dark Ages BUT with a Mech and riding a demon-dragon?! The roar brought back Skyrim memories.

I hope Doom: the Dark Ages has some levels set in the Heretic/Hexen universe and one of the bosses is D'Sparil. As for weapons, not only I'd like to see the Crucible and the Doom Hammer return. I'd also like to see more brand new weapons in the form of Timon's Axe, the Wraith Staff and the Quietus which are all from Hexen originally.

i wouldnt mind the game being not as fast as doom eternal, because honestly there will be moments where the gameplay would be frustrating, or just simply not that enjoyable since most of the time you finish it pretty quick when you play more and get more skilled, i would really appreciate it to not be slow but neither be too fast, somewhere in the middle would be great for both doom 2016 fans and eternal fans

I loved seeing the sentinels going ham in the background of Immora in Eternal, so I’d love to be fighting alongside a squad of them or even an army of sentinels with proper ai that can actually fight the demons for real. That’d be sick. Change my mind.

I would be really cool if they brought back the Crucible and/or a sentinal version of the unmaykr... The Crucible was used during his time with the sentinels during the Crusade, and for the unmaykr, the one in doom eternal was based on SENTINAL WEAPONRY but was made with maykr technology according to Dr. Samuel Hayden when we first pick up the gun, so we could see the unmaykr again, but it would look more like it was made by the sentinels

The Crucible has to come back. Eternal states Titans are only put down by the blade, and that they're the only demons who don't really die. Also, I can see the Sentinels playing a bigger role, especially since many of them knew Doomguy in Eternal.

Judging by how this doom is going to have more melee based combat than previous games and that there's a parry system, I think it's safe to assume that Doom the dark ages is taking a few notes from From Software's Elden ring and souls series

I love that Hugo still remembers the exact wording of that first Slayers' Testament from eight years ago :D Ever since I saw that trailer the it's got the ideas flowing, and the riffs pumping through my blood... so I down-tuned my 8-string and I've been recording something, in the style of-- well, my interpretation of how Doom 2016 and Eternal's metal style could be adjusted for a setting like this. The coolest thing regarding that shield-saw, - is that when thrown, it also hits enemies as it flies back. (Captain, was that your contribution?!🤪) Be as it may, i am glad they didn't forget to implement this detail, as it surely promises some cool close range combat setups.

I think it would be cool if you get different buffs depending on what you glory kill demons with. Like for instance doing it with the shield gives you a defense buff and doing it with the flail gives you an attack buff

What would be dope is if we got thrown into a massive battle alongside the night-sentinels and we can see the scale of Doom slayer power also who doesn't like massive battlefield . Also be cool if the sentinels acknowledge the Doom slayer and cheer him on or something.

Judging by how far he zooms forward when he uses the flail and kick attacks, and how it's able to stunlock that large enemy, I'm assuming it's something with some limitations, like a number of charges with a cooldown. I'm hoping you have melee attacks you can use all the time, but just not something that's ideal to solely rely on in most scenarios since this is still an FPS and not Elder Scrolls. But that's still much better than the cutscene instant-kills with the crucible.

Imo (I'm halfway done with the video) but what they should've done with the bayonet in doom eternal, was give players a dash and slash mechanic. Like as an upgrade you can dash and slash demons in your way it would've gave the bayonet the recognition it sorta deserves

I am happy that they keep iterating. If I want Doom Eternal gameplay, I can always play that. If I want my arcade shooter, I got Doom 2016. If I want my dark age, gladiator, stand my ground and advance, 2025 will be here soon.

So far, I really love the UI elements they're going with. They feel like Medieval magics manifesting in real time before your eyes, as opposed to feeling like you're looking at a video game HUD overlay. It's very immersive for me personally. I hope they stick with that philosophy. 🤞🤞
