Not really. He might be well off from a material perspective, but I think the point of this video is that that’s not enough. You need a transcendent purpose for living, and if you don’t have that higher purpose beyond the routine of clocking into work, doing your job, and then spending your free time watching memes, you’re going to quickly realize that you’re an empty husk and a wage slave with no long-term purpose. It seems like this has gone completely over the heads of most commenters here.

@@lanadoesathing It's not that it has gone over anyone's head. Most people here notice that he is depressed or at the very least bored. However, what people are pointing out is that he has a pretty decent life, what with being able to afford a car and a house, along with Co workers that try to be friendly with him and a boss that acknowledges his work. Which most people don't have. Moreover, it's likely that he gains good money. The problem here... It's him. His refusal to go beyond his usual routine is no one's fault but his own, hence why people don't sympathize with him. He has a chance to do something about it, but chooses not to. He has the chance to have friends but is too busy sulking. If he chooses to remain an empty husk, that's his fault. Edit: couple of mistakes here and there.

The thing I like about the doomer memes and wojaks is that you can replace the specifics, and the feel is the same. His job, where he lives, The music he listens to, whether it's anime music, or video game music, it all shares the same thing. They're ways of escaping reality, in those waking moments, when you're fully conscious of whats around you, and you're gradually changing life. By fixating on the past. On the good ole days. He wants to escape reality. Not because he believes the world is all bad, or that there isn't any good out there for him to find. But that he will fail trying to find it. And only sink deeper into his hole. So to avoid failing. He stops playing the game. All the while hoping that he'll wake up, and have what he longs for, not happiness or a good job, a loving wife, or even success. But drive. The drive to be more than what he is. He's a unwilling protagonist. Who wishes desperately to be something because he chooses too. This is almost contradictory in a way. He wants to have the strength and passion to do something, searching for that passion, chasing it down. But doesn't want to, because he knows doing so, may lead to failure. He doubts himself, all the while knowing he can do it. This is what he ultimately wants to escape. Something he never can. His own conscience. Himself. His own judgment. Which is why he seeks to relive the past, Because thats the only thing that can satiate his mind. A time before he "grew up". But that doesn't mean we can't make it bros. We all can. We just gotta face our fears. Ourselves.

scarily accurate. If you feel trapped in life like this, take inventory of your resources, figure out what you're working with. What sources of power you can tap into. Check your spending and form a balance sheet, figure out your income, assets and liabilities. Determine how much free time you have and how much money you need to survive. Often you might think that you have to work more hours a month to have more money, but it it is usually your lifestyle and spending. If its that you feel too tired after work it might be time to find a different job, fix your sleeping or improve your diet + exercise, perhaps all of the above. Once you have established the rules of your game and its constraints, you have taken the first step to getting yourself out of such a problem- by identifying the problem and understanding it. In life preparation is key. The more you prepare for things possibly going wrong in the future, the less setbacks you have, as you find yourself masterfully deflecting problems life throws at you. "luck is where preparation meets opportunity"- Seneca Gods speed

The start that you're co.pletely doomed and nothing good's ever gonna happen to you and that you need to fucking wake up and stop with the wishful thinking. I requires reconciling yourself as a loser before life shows you. It require ending all your hopes before life does. And this is something most people aren't able off. I just don't know how once you reach a certain age, you're able to maintain any drive in life. I guess if you're lucky to find something you're truly passionate about, but for the vast majority of people who don't? I really don't know what you do for the rest of my life. Once I turned 30 I felt like I lost passion and interest in virtually everything. I guess that's why people get married and have kids, it provides them with a sense of purpose, but that shit ain't for me lol.

Did you take classes to be a welder? I want to be a welder too. Or did you just apply for a position and they accepted you and trained you I'm 20 years old haven't spent a dime of my cash still saving for the future I've worked a few places just so that i can better prepare my self for any future house disasters. (Well mainly like fix any plumbing, remodel a house, landscaping that type of work) I want to be a welder, mainly because i want to make custom piping for my Rx7. So i can have the cleanest welds lol.
@ravioli_8263 жыл бұрын
@@Alex-vz2jz you can take classes to be a welder. That’s what I did. It’s also possible to take a low paying production line job because they’ll teach you on the job. However you only learn MIG welding. Classes at least you can be certified in everything and have more options. What counts as entry level also changes for you. Instead of staring at minimum wage, you could start around $15-20 and hour. I also recommend specializing in something like pipe or a specific material or process. I do aluminum TIG welding which is a bit harder and has fewer people, but more demand.
@tupetsi4303 жыл бұрын
Guys, don't get stuck on being a welder forever. It'll literally destroy your health.. I've been talking to old welders and you can jus tell how much they regret they never switched to anything else. They are only in their late 50's with shot lungs, eyesight and hands shaking. Study an other profession, just in case at least..

Working in an office now, spending the time with my coworkers trying to amuse ourselves. It’s good pay, but it’s boring. And to think this is what life is and I could die at any moment. Deep down inside I know there’s others that also recognize that as a collective we have great power to change our society and need to involve ourselves with our own democracy, rather than outsourcing it to others.

I can relate to this, although the job title is different. Doomer is not complaining about anything. He is thankful about his car, job and overall condition, even though it may not seem so. Doomer wants to feel and do something different. He doesn't like the normal routine of waking up and already know how the day is going to go. That's why he's listening eurobeat while driving to feel something, buying a more exotic car to make driving more enjoyable, drink beer at the evening to feel something before going to bed and waking up into totally similar day than the day before. The problem is that at some point you don't know what to do and what motivates you. Changing routines is impossible, because there is not much else you could do and if there would be, the new thing would eventually be part of your routines in the future. Anons he's referring to are the people, that seem to be happy just to work and exist. He thinks anons do not have high dreams and are totally happy to live like they do now. Doomer wants to think that he's better than anons, while also knowing that he's becoming a part of the gray mass. And there is realistically nothing he could do about it.

What potential are you talking about? Wanting a nice house and car? Then what? Once you get those, everything stays the same. It isn’t about material possessions. You still have the same thoughts and the same brain. People keep thinking “Once I get this, then I’ll be happy!” It doesn’t work like that.
@forman2082 жыл бұрын
@@jasoninthehood9726 People don't realize that our brains are a hedonistic treadmill. Once we obtain something, our brains eventually get use to it, and it loses it's novelty. I'm assuming it's ingrained from our days living in the wild, making sure we weren't complacent while searching for food and shelter. I would never deter someone from chasing their dreams, but if it's literally materialistic things like a house or a car, give it 6-12 months and it will provide you NO enjoyment anymore. As you said, you'll still have the same brain, just now in a bigger home.
