Woodland Hills Mall is doing A-OK for now, even solving its problem with a vacant Sears building and replacing it with a Scheels. The last mall standing in Tulsa.

The mall was Eastland not Eastgate. That’s the new name of the facilities since the actual mall closed.

I'm from Tulsa and have worked at some of the mall's here. In 1978 I worked at Vandeveer's at Southroads Mall. it is now a strip mall it is across the Steet from Promenade Mall. Promenade Mall was a outdoor mall and it used to be called Southland Mall before they enclosed it. Eastland Mall was closed in 2008. Ace from Ace Adventures did a Video of the inside of the mall a few years ago. I work at Dillard's in woodland hills mall. I have been there 40 years. I used to have a van run to Eastland and Promenade for Dillard's to take men's Suits to be Altered. I have gone to all of these Malls for years.

I remember as a kid when Woodland Hills opened. I spent all my free time (and money) at the arcade

Isn't it some kind of optical store now ? I remember when The Mall was being built. We moved to Tulsa in 1971. 61st and Memorial was the edge of Tulsa.

It made me happy to not only see a functioning carousel, but also people riding it. I also like that skylight above the carousel. Simon property group's malls are too plain, even though I still like them. 😊💙🎠🎠

Mall 31 is a postage stamp-sized “mall” that I didn’t even know about until a few years ago, and I live in the Tulsa area.

My parents both work in the mall, my mom in what used to be a toy train store and my dad being a Arby’s manager in the food court. They met there and my dad purposed to her there when the carousel used to be a fountain there. I love that mall

I'm pretty sure that Macy's façade at 0:16 has one of the last four remaining Sanger-Harris mosaics, at least among those former Sanger-Harris locations that are still functioning as department stores. The mosaic on the other side was removed. The other three remaining Sanger-Harris mosaics are all on the Macy's at Hulen Mall in Fort Worth, TX. Although no longer a functioning department store, there may be three additional Sanger-Harris mosaics at Southwest Center/Red Bird in Dallas, TX; the latest Google imagery I saw from that area was from 2022, so I cannot say for sure whether the mosaics are still there, but I might try to drive there sometime to confirm whether or not they are there (I live in Fort Worth, TX).

Yes, it does still have that mosaic, actually. I had no idea about that information, though.

The one thing (functionally) Promenade had better than Woodland Hills is the parking garage. Whether it's 8000 degrees in the Tulsa Sun or a monsoon, you had somewhere cool and dry to park.

I like the mall, I wish Simon would’ve renovated the Florida Mall in Orlando to be like this one. Instead it’s just a combination of whites and greys, however it’s also packed full of tourists daily and even has a non-closing Sears so it’s a bit of a conundrum.

4:22 Yes, the public can still walk around in Eastgate, at least (roughly) during business hours. I was nearby a few days ago, so I stopped in and did just that. There were a handful of other people who seemed like they were mall walking too. Not that there's much of interest; other than a coffee shop that is open to the public, and the DMV, it's a business center now like you said.

One of the nicer malls you have visited. I could not imagine doing anything in Oklahoma without air conditioning! Terrible climate!

Whatever you do next, Doomie, do not ever visir Westwood Mall or Westwood Square as it is now known as in Malton, Ontario, Canada. I saw recent video of what it loooks like now and it is really disappointing. That was my childhood mall growing up in Malton and it went from from having a nice look with brown brick facade and and a nice layered floor map to being a claustrophobic nightmare with a lot of that standard bleached out white and beige interior appearance. Ughh. They even got rid of the cenre mall fountain/

It seems as though the one or two indoor malls located in decent American cities and their surrounding areas are surviving quite well, proving that indoor malls aren't dead yet, but just adjusting to the new demand. Most malls have been cannibalized or are in the process of becoming that way, or have gradually been abandoned due to declining populations or struggling economies in their vicinities. I'm from Rochester, NY and between 1990 - 1994 we had six indoor malls in the metro area. We currently sit at 2.5 malls left - one is doing very well, one is doing fine, and the last is in hospice care waiting for the other shoe to fall.

East Gate metroplex (which is what the east gate mall here is called now) is still accessible through the DMV but you would have to go during the hours of operation of the DMV to see the mall. Otherwise it's pretty much inaccessible.

At time 3:47 what is the "Magical Dragon" thing? I never heard of this. Also, Doomie that was a funny comment at the very end about the air conditioning.

If you've ever been to Tulsa Promenade before it closed, you'll understand why I said that. There is nothing funny about walking into a mall that's over 80 degrees at the coldest (excluding Dillard's), and 100 at the worst.

Magical Dragon is a stall that uses liquid nitrogen and puts it in what looks like oversized crunchberries for customers to eat, and consequently have the liquid nitrogen come out as a vapor. Their motto is "Breathe like a Magical Dragon".

I've only seen a few rare malls, where the JCPenney letters have this different than normal spacing for the letters. Not sure why that is, when this sign went up.
