Neat little mall. I definitely wish the fountains had been going too. While I'm not a fan of residential zoning on mall property, I could see a hotel working out there, if it's an affordable enough chain.

I miss going to this mall when living in Pittsburgh. This area near Monaca was “supposed” to really recover with the Sunoco plant opening down the hill from the mall…

Biggest scam waste of taxpayer dollars ever. And scientists say it will make the air over Pittsburgh even more dangerous to human health, especially children.

I find it interesting to watch this video being it was filmed 2020, you saw sprint, justice, and Christopher & Banks en they were all still in operation before there closures. It is really nostalgic to see some of the brands I saw when I shopped at before there disappearance. In 2020, many of mall stores I remember like sprint, justice, Sears, J-Crew,

I really like the lamps and trees inside the mall's center court, also the name has such a charming vibe lol

We used to shop at the Boscov’s very friendly staff. The stock and pickup area had this awesome rocker dude with the worlds greatest mullet bringing out purchases… he was always happy and chatted with everyone.

I agree with your talk on converting malls. I know the Avenue at MKE in Milwaukee has turned old stores into apartments and looks nice. Also there's so much you could put in vacant spots like gyms, college stuff like offices or bookstores if in a college city, museums. There's a former mall in Syracuse that is a giant car center now and they have the Syracuse University sports Hall of Fame.

I don't like this mall, but I still think it is unique in it's own way. I love the circle shaped lights divided in four, along with the trees. They are so cool. Still a good video though.

Hope they allowed to convert the empty spaces into office spaces.

The thing that gets me is I noticed recently they built a new 3 tennant building jsut outside the mall in the parking lot. I am like why? There are 3 stores you could have inside the mall but aren't. I wonder who's bright idea was that.

Thank you for the video! This was my mall in 2018-2019. Waaaaay past the heyday. I drove a half hour each way to play DDR Extreme in the arcade at 11:03. That game was almost 20 years old even when I was there. I got some compliments by the employee of the empty arcade. I saw other customers in there a few times, but only 1 or 2 other groups at a time. Never a crowd. Usually people with kids. Once or twice I'd get a pretzel at Auntie Anne's as a post-dance treat. I played DDR Extreme at Century III once as well; that machine was either underpowered or bootleg. Weird frame-dropping machine. I worked at the Dick's in 2018 and it was not quite a ghost town, but close to it. Rural King got the most business, but Dick's was probably the second most hoppin' store in the place. I know someone who's contacted the arcade owner, and they really don't want to sell the DDR machine. The Christmas decorations were up as late as March-June 2019. I think the location was shown at 8:27. I don't remember fountains ever working.

Unfortunately Monaca and several of is neighbors are very troubled towns. It has been on the decline for decades. There is a slight bit of bright light as people looking for affordable homes can find some options. The money and growth is in the Cranberry area and some in Moon. Most people that drive through Monaca, Alliquippa and Ambridge don’t see opportunities, they see the crime and decay.

Pennsylvania should find a smaller, empty mall, and turn it into a retirement/nursing home/museum for Volunteer Firefighters, like the Firefighter's Home in New York State.

the key here is Beaver County lacks good employment, really never recovered from 1980s Mill closings. without businesses moving in to create jobs. the Mall is on its way out. BTW, narrator needs to learn how to pronounce Monaca. Got it all wrong

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Chi-Chi's incident from the 2000s; that is arguably this mall's claim to fame. I have fond memories of this mall from my days attending college up the road; it is a shame to see the mall like this. Oh, and it's pronounced muh-NAH-kuh.
