I hear you… In the last the month, I’ve ordered 3 Florentine satchels from Dooney and they all were awful. All were covered in scratches, one had crooked and lopsided top handles, the third didn’t have the leather straps on the feet and it was the wrong size! Their customer service is useless and without offering exchanges, it’s pretty clear Dooney doesn’t value their customers.

Mine also didn’t come with the leather strips at the bottom. It was a Made in America one with green suede and tassels. Other than that, mine looked fine. Definitely send yours back. The way I gasped when I saw the split leather and the stitching

Hi! I am so glad I came upon your video because I’m dealing with similar issues with a mini Flo satchel I received. Mine didn’t have a serial tag inside!!! I bought it straight from ILD. The Flo wallet I received smells like straight up chemicals. The Flo leather feels incredibly thin. I’m like WTF is going on over at D&B?! I’ll eat the $10 shipping, but I’m not gonna keep a bag I’m not happy with.

just checked again and the Florentine bags i received today do have the leather Dooney and Bourke patch inside the bag...but do not have the fabric Dooney and Bourke tag ..at least they have the leather dooney and Bourke patch on or above inside pocket....i think they are slowly omitting the Dooney and Bourke tag from their bags...dooney is slowly taking the tags out of the bags

@MyKiltyPleasures I don't buy hardly any dooney pebble bags ..I stick with with the coated cotton and florentine..just bought the Bordeaux florentine large satchel it is beautiful but going to send it back after my replacement gets here ..had to order another one because the first one they sent has loose thread ...I'm picky in that sense ..think I'm done buying dooney..I have enough dooney bags ..also the large satchel is one inch shorter in length than it was last year ..and it cost more..I hope to get a good one this time..if it wasnt for the loose thread the first one they sent would be perfect ..it is so beautiful I didnt want have to return it..but i dont like the loose thread..I dont know if it would get worse..makes me sad I have to send it back .just hoping no issues with the next one...a few little scratches don't bother me..these bags scratch easily anyway

@MyKiltyPleasures I bought a penrose drawstring a couple months ago very cheap on ILD..it had loose stitching around the drawstring holes ..the holes that the drawstring goes through ..very loose stitching ..I didnt send it back because the price was so cheap for it..i kept it..but it was bad....the florentine doesn't even come close to the loose stitching that was on the penrose ...not even close ..but enough to make concerned

Definitely a shift in quality, with some corners being cut. This bag does not have straps across the bottom because they no longer use one solid piece of leather across the bottom. Your previous bags are one large piece of leather curved in a barrel shape for the entire body of the bag whereas the newer versions are three pieces of leather and the bottom is a rectangular piece connecting the two sides. Since it is already an added piece connecting the two sides it no longer needs the strips to add the studs. The strips served a function before, but now it is purely cosmetic so they cut the corner. It is cheaper to use three pieces for the body of the bag than it is to use one large piece of Florentine leather. They are still one of the best companies around.

Thank you! I had no idea why either! I got an Ivy Florentine satchel on ILD for $137 in that great sale. It is without the bottom straps and I thought it was defective. Plus the zipper felt stitching was not the best like yours is. But returning to them I dread, so I kept it. Mine isn't as bad as yours though. I wouldn't pay the same higher price as I did before with this recent quality. They shouldn't be sending anything out this bad no matter what.

i just received my bags today..that was super fast ordered yesterday.. yes they all have the strips on the bottom....the one you have could be a fake...where did you buy it at.....also i noticed that my my new large Florentine satchel is one inch shorter in length than my older ones ..i think dooney is cutting corners.....i also ordered a pebble grain large satchel that one is still 15 inches long like the older Florentine satchels. The large Florentine satchel i received today is only 14inches long. Disappointed with that..i have the small version of it which is one inch shorter in length than the new large one i just got....i don't like how Dooney is cutting corners...and i was happy i received two stickers in my boxes today. Two different stickers..

also i don't like how they put the old style pictures of the bags up on the website...the bags look longer in length like the old style bags...but in reality, they are a inch shorter than what they used to be..i can tell they are using old style pictures because i tell by the shape of the bag...the old style satchels are longer and look just the picture they have up on the ILD website...so i think it's a little deceiving..even though the description says 14inch the picture definitely is a 15inch bag ...i took a chance and sure enough it's only 14inches long....shorter than the old style...dooney is really cutting corners...i hope you sent that bag bag...it's definitely messed up ..and could possibly be a fake..oh i better check to see if there are tags in the bag..that's another thing dooney is doing not putting dooney tags in some of the bags...

ended up returning the navy it looked more black and i already have two large pebble grain satchels....sent it back today...and also ups dropped off another florentine satchel i ordered in the large Bordeaux color satchel..the color is so beautiful i love it but after examining it i noticed a couple loose threads ..it looks like it was a return..i am so disappointed now i have to send it back cost $ 10 and order another one..i've never seen that color in person until today and it is the most beautiful red burgundy leather i've ever seen....i get sick of ILD sending returns to customers...because they don't refund the cost to ship it back

Return it! I stopped buying Dooney years ago. I have a old shoulder equestrian bag from the 80's and it has a made in the USA label. The hobo bag I purchased 10 years ago was made in China and was over $200, I was done with this brand. Those Florentine bags are supposed to be the top of the line, over $300. Get your money back. Don't pay full price for Dooney or Coach. Quality has dropped.

Hi Jonathan, can you hear me yelling?? Run don't walk and send that thing back (I'm sure you probably have). Everything you pointed out is valid! I just went to check mine and that thing should have never left the "assembly" line let alone the building. The stitching is atrocious and that scratch on the back is unacceptable. It's definitely missing the little leather strip that goes with the feet like the first one you compared it to. The older models had the leather strap go around the bottom of the bag. Unless it's the newest version?? That is definitely a bag that is defective and you should get all your money back including the shipping fee! Sorry for the rant! I do love Dooney & Bourke especially that satchel and to see that bag in that condition makes me want to scream! 💜💜💜💜

OMG!! Last week, I received my first purchase from I Love Dooney and was so disappointed! I bought a Florentine Small Hobo, Light Taupe color, Style # 8L2172XD at clearance price of $145 with tax totaling $160. I was so excited, I thought I was getting a steal until I took it out of the plastic bag...it is cute but the leather isn't supple and it smells like VINYL!! I thought I was crazy, so I pulled out three other Florentines which always smell and feel wonderful. I noticed the interior top isn't green suede like my other Florentines but that shouldn't make much difference, right? Because the bag is a clearance item, I can't return it...I feel like I was duped into buying a diffusion line bag...

Oh yikes! I'm so sorry to hear that! I don't think the color means really anything now. I know that some of their bags are made in the USA and some aren't. I think there use to be a correlation between the color and where it was made... according to reddit. Now I think there is just a tag on the bag that says made in USA. Haha know people say that the ones made in USA seem to be better quality. I'm not an expert on DB at all so take what I say with a grain of salt.

i wouldn't mind the whipped stitching like that..mabye not so high up thought ....i think it would make harder for it to come apart. But the loose stitching oh no that bag would be going back quick fast in a hurry..i just looked at the whip stitching on one of my bags actually i am carrying the large Florentine red satchel and it does not have the long piece on the whipped stitching. It's alot shorter.... the long piece is kind of a eye sore when you are looking at it...especially for the money you pay for the bag......i don't blame you for sending it back..just withing the last couple of days i ordered two more large and two nano...i will definitely be looking at the the whipped stitiching..i bought these bags on ILD...the red one i am carrying now i bought at macys store several years ago

Oh my! That is the perfect example of poor workmanship and they should have had quality control inspect this bag before placing it for sale. I just received a Made in America satchel in the Natural color like yours and it also did not have the leather strips under the feet at the bottom. This was a replacement from an earlier order of the same bag which also did not have the leather strips at the bottom so I guess that's how they're making them now or it's something unique to the Made in America brand. However, that's not what was depicted online. Also, instead of the red underside on the tassels and on the inside at the top, it came with green suede, like the traditional satchels so I was left rather confused. I called Dooney and they said I should file a report due to the inconsistencies and you should definitely do that because you've received a defective product for sure. I wouldn't let one bad experience ruin the rest though. Good luck!

I am not a bag person, but I do want a weekended bag The bag is by Bally and it is part of the Adrien Brody Collection. It is made of heavy nylon and calf leather. Originally $2330, now on sale for $838.80 - Should I buy it? I really like it, but I can't get myself to spend because of the economy and inflation. I love Bally, because it's understated. The nylon is heavier ply compared to Prada nylon bags. Anyway, return that bag and get a refund. Why should you live with those flaws. It sounds like its stressing you out.
