i have seen in some elevators with a door hold button that door close cancels it and i think that was supposed tp be the case here but the door close button did not work on this one

"Maybe it's because I pressed the door hold switch". Maybe you should leave the switches alone and only hit "door open" to let other people in before you head to another floor or "door close" to speed up the process.

You should’ve only pushed the door hold switch once and not hold the doors longer. They close after 5 minutes. If I pushed it, I left it for someone to use it.

Ooo, EPCO Survivor fixtures. A door hold switch combined with a faulty door close button is very bad - the door close button is SUPPOSED to cancel out Door Hold.
