Thanks for investigating my land sir Pugger. One more crazy bot farm on Karamja I know of is the rune rocks in Mor Ul Rek. Requires a fire cape and there are 100s with an insane amount of mining xp without ever getting banned. Pretty crazy because it is really easy to recognize them

Jagex's heuristics used to detect macroing are autistic, not deductive. They run scanns on input repeaded patterns, timings of actions and dumb data they can literally track and analyze. There's no red flag for being gameplay-locked into 20 squares after recieving capital from other accounts, or for just making gp, or for trading these profits away everytime. Jagex's anti-macroing system does not look for things you would be looking at to identify bots, it's kinda retarded. And they're sticking to that model and polishing it instead of looking to suplement it with alternative aproaches.

Most people might not remember, but there was a MASSIVE ddosing problem before death mechanics were changed. People would hit the worlds offline if they saw someone in high risk doing pvm, hoping the person would die so they could loot their shit. Death mechanics need to stay the same until Jagex can prevent their worlds from being hit offline, but lets be real, they cant.

They should just let it stay up for 60 minutes and then after an hour the loot will spawn. This will probably solve the problem because most people can log back in and get to their spawn.

@@TheCarpenterUnion Yes you have you just dont realize it. If you have been playing since 2007 then you have experienced being disconected from a world before many many times. Some of those times were because the world was DDOSed some of them were just normal server issues. The thing is, you were not the intended target. So you just eventually logged back in or hopped to another world and didnt ever realize that someone, somewhere in the server that dropped just lost all of their shit. Also DDOSing has gotten more and more common and much easier and accessable over the years since 2007. It wasnt common back then but its easy for anyone who can use google to figure out today in 2019.

He is doing good work but don't hold your breath on this making any real difference. I have known of all the farms revealed here for years. The ranging guild farm has been in existence since early runescape 2 days. The tokkul shop farms have been around for years also, they operate in 3 different tzhaar shops and the bots don't get banned for months on end even with multiple player reports and of course even when they are banned they are replaced within hours. It makes the game unplayable for me.

Everyone knows about them lol There is litterly nothing jagex could do more at this point that would not affect normal players, the signals to tell if someone is a bot are already there and any increased will trigger too many fake positives, the thing is bots get banned OFTEN but there are bots to make new bots and money making methods that require less than a day to prepare for, you cant bot 24/7 for a week but you dont have to, there are mule bots that hold money from bot farms that litterly exist for 6 hours then never used again (they hold value and transfer it before 6 hour log)

@@fellowperson6406 Original mechanics where if you died ANYONE can pickup your stuff one minute after you died. So naturally people started DDosing worlds when they scouted someone risking alot at a boss. It got to the point when Jagex had to basically introduce the grave mechanic RS was given in late 2007. You don't get a grave stone but your items will remain on the floor for an hour, and then it disappears. Personally I think the OSRS team should add the death mechanic that RS3 has. (Where you die you get teleported to Death and have to pay a small fee to get your items back, or decline and you have to go back where you died to get your stuff back. That will break every single bot for a while.

I've run into a bunch of bots at blast mine lately. They are all in the level 30-40 range with at least 105+ mining and usually wear very little or a mourner mask. A few of them had pets as well. I discovered 10+ of them logging in one at a time to trade the ore to the main account, and most of them had 109-111 mining. They seem to logout after depositing ore if someone else is nearby. May be worth checking out if you haven't seen anything about this before.

Justin Colley true but there are a sizable majority that are well past low levels. Regardless of level the traffic those accounts provide Jagex in turn raises their “stock value”. They can bring up statistics and say “hey look at all the active users we have”.

Hey SirPugger! Important announcement: just saw a bunch of accounts that looked like a thieving botfarm, located on the farm south of Varrock, within world 392 (the Australian PVP-world!). A few level 3 bots, a level 15 and a level 42 bot - all of them wearing only a thieving skillcape and nothing else, all standing around and pickpocketing a Master Farmer NPC. There's a huge pile of dropped seeds underneath them. Since they are in a PVP world, perhaps it is possible to take them down? EDIT: someone took care of them since, they're gone.

Its just hard to get rid of well made bots. Private botters who make their own bot farms / software will never get banned, because Jagex can't justify banning them because they randomize all inputs and change their algorithms frequently. Same thing goes for a lot of public bots.

There is a bot farm at the farming store south of Falador by the cow pen. If you get too close though, the bot disappears not sure if it hops or logs out, but it returns roughly every 30 seconds to buy pots I believe

I was buying steel nails at the Varrock sawmill and noticed the stocks in all the worlds were under 40, when the wiki says the stock is 1000. I checked the PvP worlds and those shops were also bought from. The sawmill sells them for 3 coins and GE price is 20. Since they are stackable I bet the ones going into PvP worlds are carrying a lot of nails or cash

One that is super common is bots taking advantage of the Rogue trader minigame (Ali in Al Kharid). I'm assuming they buy massive amounts of runes at discount, don't have to hop worlds because each chest is private. Considering even the non discounted runes turn a profit and there are tons of bots doing this in minimal stats to finish the feud, they can probably make a ton of money very, very easily.

Hey, there are bots camping blue dragons in taverly dungeon (normally on the smaller left side when you walk into the blue dragon area). They will pick up dragon bones, and you can lure them to the gate. They will open the door and the lesser demons on the other side will kill them if they get aggro'd. Would love to see if they do this on PVP worlds as well.

@@rosegokublack9863 No as far I know qp does not increase the timer, i think unless it an instant the item will last for 60min on death. What I propesed was a physical grave stone. The stone stays for a set time unless blessed(req.70prayer if i remember correctly and stays once blessed for 60min). The time the gravestone stays depends on the tier of gravestone. As you earn points and unlock new areas you get acsess to higher tiers of gravestone that last longer. How long is up to the dev. Rs2 had 17mins tops(12min gravestone + 5min till loot appeared).

It used to be that, when players died, their loot appeared to everyone a round after a few minutes. They updated the game on most servers, so that both their gravestones and their loot remain hidden for an hour. So they have 60 minutes to grab their loot. Now, I'm not sure if the loot appears to players anymore, or simply vanishes after an hour.

Heres an idea, player mods or other type of special anti bot roles can outright ban a bot they see. But, they have to provide video footage along with the ban. If someone appeals a ban from a player mod and there is no footage its an instant unbanning of their account to avoid abusers.

New lms bots in f2p worlds. The big one I haven't seen in a few days, was literally 100's of bots entering then leaving competitive LMS to farm points for whoever was doing it. The other bot farm doing it is about 10-15 level 3 bots that enter competitive LMS and let you kill them. With a combination of these bots I was getting insane amount of LMS points as a legitimate player, which could make me 4m+ gp/hr, while I heard the bot farmers were making 100m+ an hour

Pugger, the reason these bots are buying feathers are because you buy the feathers for 2gp each from the fishing shops, and then go and sell them overnight on the G.E. for 3gp each, thus making minimal profit, but it's a very easy way for f2p players to make a quick bond for members

Tip, I found bots buying diamonds in every world in the fight pit gem shop. They somehow know when the shop is stocked and when it isn't, because they are never logged in unless the diamond spawns. If you sell a diamond to the shop the bot will log in and buy it then instantly log out again. (So you can basically summon it. Worth trying in a pvp world?)

North of Ardy there is a shop that sells empty baskets and sacks and some other small things but like in sets of 100x. The bot doesn't even hop it just stays there buying them all day since the respawn rate is very fast. It's not a huge amount of gp but after a day I'm sure it adds up with multiple accounts. Also the bots buying food at the warrior guild.

How about a total level requirement to keep your items on death. Sub 1000 total = loot shows up after death in minutes. Let's be real, no wealthy pvmer that would have to worry about a ddos has lower than 1k total level. Most bots are lower than 1k total. It's a fair requirement.

when i was getting 99 Hunter I ran into so many bots. What I'd do was use the same spaces they were for setting traps, which would cause them to drop their traps and i'd pick them up. One time a bot actually spoke to me. I took all his/her traps and they yelled "mis trapas!" lol. Not even kidding, about 3 minutes later a high lvl player spawned and traded the bot more traps. I reported the "king pin" along with all of the bots I encountered.

And I think the death mechanics should be when you die your stuff stays there for a hour invisible, then appear to other players for 2 to 5 minutes then disappear entirely. I think you deserve the gold from those first few bots man

I did not realize old school had nuked death mechanics. RS3 has a reclaim function, but it costs gp and requires clicking through dialogue with Death, and also has gravestones that act as a temporary safe spot for your dropped loot (outside of pvp areas) to allow for corpse runs. I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the items drop on the ground after the gravestone timer ends if you haven't gotten back by then. This seems like a good solution to me, but I don't know what unique problems might be faced on the old school client that might make that infeasible.

The feather bot is there either set up by a feather collector or they sell to a feather collector, some collectors are willing to over pay a lot, from 3 per feather to probably up to around 8 per feather

As there are random events, there should be one that happens more often. A bot that follows you for 10 minutes and urges you to talk with him. If you dont reply in 10-15-20 minutes - instaban. There should be a list of answers that change positions every time. This bot will follow you even when you tp or anything else.

As a UIM, I like to chop trees next to general stores so that I can fletch the wood and quickly sell the bows for quick cash. On Zeah at Shayzien House general store, I was chopping maples when I saw the same bot world hop, run to the store, and sell 20 of a variety of items before hopping again. He would return regularly and do the same thing. Was he just maximizing profit by selling junk items to the store a bit at a time? I don't understand what it was accomplishing.

You can kill bots using skeletons in the wilderness area leading to chaos druids below edgeville. The fence gate has the same mechanics as the door. If you spam click it the skeleton will aggro and kill the bots charging air orbs. Some of them have food but most dont. Takes a few minutes to get them killed.

grand exchange sells feathers for 2 each? i mostly buy them at 4 each in bulk because i cant be arsed to wait. and alot of times i need feathers quick. so yes i pay double but when im leveling an alt account the time saved is worth it not waiting for the price to drop back to 2 each.

Death mechanics are a double edged sword. You can have loot show from bots killed from methods like the one in the video, but it also enables scammers from being able to trick players into dying from a number of methods. I'm not sure how big of a problem scams are that get players killed by environmental stuff or npc's

Probably not the most popular oppinion but death mechanics should stay the same. Bots ruin the game, if you kill them for their stuff it's just botted items not 'legit' items and the issue remains (influx of botted items into market). Not that you're not doing great work (and you're doing GREAT work by exposing this) but it doesn't change the base problem, it just shuffles who's getting the profit. Please don't take it as personal or negative feedback I love your vids!

Kurasks at Fremennik Slayer Cave, whole bunch of level 100+ wearing dragon/obsidian with only melee stats trained. Was able to mess with 4 of them that logged in simultaneously through Tele-other but bot would find a way out of it after 3-5 mins.

There's always a constant flow of bots at Zaff's buying battlestaves on GB worlds.and it's always the same patern. Lv16 logs in inside the store > Walk to the door > Open it if closed > Check inventory and bank if needed > (Optional: Struggle with me being a dickhead, shutting the door on them when they try to re-enter) > Re-enter the store and buy battlestaves > Log out

I feel like the best way to resolve the death mechanics would be to implement some kind of code that looked for any signs of a disconnect. Maybe just 2 checks, one to check if the player's client is still connected, and 2 just a ping to the user's IP to check if it's still reachable whatsoever. If both fail it registers it as a potential disconnect, doesn't make their items appear to other players, and also records what happened before/after their death, so that if for example a UIM died to a server disconnect Jagex could look into it. Otherwise if it doesn't appear to be a disconnect, it just treats it as a normal death like it used to, still gives them a long time to come collect it (just in case), but then makes it show to other players after that timer is up.

I found a small bot farm in Pyramid plunder today. There were 4 accounts with names like e427an77op6 and other random ones. Attempts to speak with them or trade/interact with them fail. I’m not high enough lvl magic to fact a teleother spells, only 74. They were all wearing some variant of adamant/rune chain/rune kite etc. I logged off the night previous, then this morning I spotted one of the very same bots STILL doing it. From what I can see, they really focus on the sarcophagus and large golden chest, meaning they MAY be killable if they accept aid. It also seems like they randomly take from some urns, likely to switch the path up just a bit to fool the system. It could be an xp farm, however I think it’s an obscure money making bot. There’s a 1/1000 chance for the pharaohs scepter, which can be sold for 3.8m on the ge. Certainly worth investigating!

Thats kinda simple. The reason why is because of the DDOS problems they had a few years ago. People would scout out people at for exampel GW bosses that had a lot of nice gear, DDOS the world and just sit and wait for their loot. Now, when they dont get any loot from doing it, theres not really a reason for them to DDOS people/worlds, since they get nothing from it. If they make it visable again, even if its after 1 hour, people will start DDOS again. And just imagine what they would be able to get today from a maxed TOB team or something. This could be bills upon bills a day and 1000s of dollars each day.

I also found another bot farm in the GE stringing magic longbows/other bows. I found this level 3 RSN dominick9109 (he is 108 fletching with no other skills and rank 942 in fletching on the high scores). There are 2 other accounts in the world in the GE stringing bows, but it might be one of those bot farms that only logs in on weekends when mods are out of the office. You can temporarily break them by using the teleother spell, but they eventually find a way out of it and keep on fletching.
