For rivets, use a center punch to tap out the tiny steel ball in the center and then the drill will tear through the rest in seconds with no prying needed. Thanks for the video, doors look super easy to get into.

If you're going to dispose of the factory speakers (as they deserve), you may as well cut them and use the baskets as brackets

You can also avoid using the wire adapters in the case, too, possibly? You can remove the factory plug on the speaker and solder it to your new speaker.

@@TrevorTurkington that's what I did. just reuse the oem speaker as a mount and solder the wires to the plug. I replaced the door speakers with some old school Eclipse 6.5 3way i had laying around. The dash speakers were replaced with Kicker 3.5 DS series.

Excellent install. Looks easy for this vehicle. The only recommendation I would make is to put some sort if silicone caulking or gasket between the door and the mounting bracket. Stops the door and speaker mount from vibrating and rattling at higher volumes.

Nice video. Just 2 comments: The polarity is very important. If you get it wrong, you loose the bass, since when one woofer pushes air out, the other one pulls air in and they cancel each other. Also, it would be better to use lock nuts to avoid the screw/nuts to loosen up with the vibrations.

You could have used a nutcert instead of a washer nut and bolt. When doing a quick fix, use tape instead when you are going to revisit the wire area to fix properly. Lastly the screws used to screw the speaker to the adaptor are too big, and should have installed the speaker to the adaptor before hand.

I'm looking to update my speakers also. I changed out the front dash speakers with JBLs and they sound great. The balance is thrown off with the other speakers. I can upgrade them myself, just not comfortable drilling into my door. If I upgrade only 2 more door speakers, in your opinion, would you replace the front door or the rear doors?

I've worked with a lot of speakers in the past, sometimes what can happen with only door speaker replacement is the new speakers maybe louder or quieter depending on the efficiency of what you bought. Good to look for something with a high SPL that is usually measured in db watt/per meter. Also there might be less bass which is actually pretty common when swapping door speakers only so I would plan on a sub and amp if possible. There are some door speakers that make better bass than others so do your research.

Ur a tech that joined wires and put heat shrink that’s not a good connection even if u didn’t have plug and play u should have used wire joiners and if trashing factory speakers why not use baskets too
