It's their business, they have the right. It's a good scare tactic to reduce the losses. Like some grocery stores, they could put a monitor up showing the view to everyone.

I'm not worried about someone stealing my food, just as long as they take it all. My worst nightmare is the delivery guy literally eating a little bit of my food and then handing it to me. There are security videos of them doing that.

I talked to the manager at Applebees one time while I was picking up an order, he told me that someone earlier in the day stole a $230 order

Well, in Australia a few years ago the people who pick up orders were caught red handed. Someone from a balcony was waiting for the order when suddenly a delivery guy arrived but what they saw and filmed was hilarious for some but disgusting for others. This was before restaurants were required to seal the bags as they do now. The guy delivering went into his large box, opened up the food containers one by one, and stole a spoonful of food from each container, the worse thing, he licked the plastic spoon accompanying the container and put them back into each bag. It was disgusting as this was filmed, there was no excuse. Since all the Uber and other deliveries are sealed in the restaurant so there is no way anybody can open the bag and break the seal without the person who receives the food noticing

I'm in upstate nys. They caught drivers screen shooting orders picked them up and turned off phone. Insane they caught 6 drivers last week so now you got to confirm in front of the restaurant worker.

It could be someone who is broke and posed as a "driver" just to take the food.

Some restaurants ask the driver to confirm pick up in front of them. They will ban the Dasher from the store if the driver refuses or throws a hissy fit over it.

I’m in Phoenix and I’ve had restaurants ask me to confirm before leaving but I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this before. I’ve even had restaurants have you sign the receipt or a log that I’ve picked up the order. A lot of restaurants are also just not remaking the order because so many people are stealing.

It's this bad down in Tucson. I been scammed by all the major services here, never once when I lived in Tempe.

Hell, no, they shouldn’t have done that. They can’t prove that they stole that order. I don’t even think they can prove as a DoorDash driver, but anyway, yeah they don’t have no right to slay or somebody without being found guilty to begin with.

I've had restaurants all the time hand me the wrong food. Usually it's similar names, but I 2x it. I've heard of ways dashers scam and I've definitely seen where customers scam. Sux on both sides.

From what I noticed a lot of illegals be stealing orders , also customers , witnessed a non-English-speaking person presumably illegal, take an order that I was picking up off the shelf right in front of me, I was picking up a batch order. The one was ready. The other one wasn’t so I was standing by the shelf waiting for the second one guy comes in and just grabs it and starts to walk out when I go and grab him and tell him to put my shit down. He says it’s his and so on and I tell him to show me his screen on his phone, he pulls up the Uber Driver app and it’s on the regular screen with no orders . I curse him out and he goes on his way.. the audacity is insane. I also know he was scamming because he wouldn’t just show me the screen. It took him a minute of me going At him to even show it to me.

I think that is pretty messed up. SImply because they have no clue if the driver stole the order. It could have very well been the customer. They lie more than the drivers lie, because they have nothing to lose when they lie. The drivers do.

I told the store ya the driver can confirm it and leave and not deliver the food some times customers put wrong address and the address is way to far so the driver keeps the food

I'm going to say I'm pretty sure the restaurant knows what the fck's going on. Why would you make a video then blur their faces. What's the point. I don't think the restaurant's going to put their picture up and not be quite sure about it. Why are protecting thieves. If your not, don't even make the video.

Most of them stealing are using rented accounts or bot accounts
