@George Kush delivery drivers make about $2 to $3 per order without a tip. And that is similar to what servers making restaurants without a tip which is on average Nationwide about $4-$6 per hour. No bottom line the January slowdown is a real thing. People are not wanting to get on DoorDash and order food for $50-$70 when they can get up off their butt and go get their food for half the price. The summer slow down is a real thing Kids are out of school teachers are out of school everyone’s trying to make a buck where do you think teachers turn when they get out of school they turn on DoorDash what do you think college kids do when they go on spring break? They turn on DoorDash to make a quick buck or two where does that leave the full-time veteran drivers down in the dumps struggling for the pennies it’s not profitable wake up.

When you break down what doordash pays a driver versus what it charges the customer...scam. $26 for a $10 pizza $10 store, $13 DD service fee $2 ($15) Peak fee $3 ($18) *Delivery fee $3 ($21) *Tip? ~$5 ($26) Driver $3+$5 ($8) DD gets $8. DD won't show the tip, partial or full, til trip is completed. There is no requirement for tipping. So a 4 mile trip could net you $3 (no tip) Or $6 ($3 delivery+$3 peak) or $11 with tip. 4 mile delivery, restaurant to house, is a $16 value So yeah, DD is a scam

In my experience so far; I think the key to going independent full time is ‘availability’, which might not work for everyone. You can’t look at dashing from an hourly perspective, it’s not an hourly job. I start my day at 8am and end at 10pm, 14 dashing hours, Monday-Sunday, and because I only pick close orders at a 2 to 1 ratio (meaning $2 per mile, round trip), I active dash about 4-6 hours a day and make $100-150 a day. And because I dash out of my house instead of dashing out on the road, it’s not a 14 hour day, it’s a 4-6 hour day, at about $24-26/hour. To me, it’s about the freedom of being home all day, and the freedom of the open road when I’m not. This strategy might not work for everyone though depending on your location, for example, I’m surrounded by businesses and houses…

My acceptance rate is 7%, I refuse to run around for 5-10 bucks especially when I notice my lower paying orders people generally don't tip and want more from you like a stop at a gas station, or grocery help. I notice uber takes generally 50% but can go up to 75%. For example, I got paid $5.47 for a trip, and the passenger showed me they paid $21 dollars. The wait at airports is insane. Imagine 2 years ago they start giving restaurant's fees for each order they give it to doordash now imagine how the order money divided you get order for $10 doordash will give restaurant's $1.00 or sometimes more doordash will steal $3.00 and the tip and they give you $6.00 but you have to drive for 10 miles if no one take the order they put $4.00 order with it but you have to drive an axtra 2 miles and the problem a lot of drivers they don't care they except it.

I DoorDash and refuse to accept an order so small. I only accept orders that tip at least $1.50/mile. The app doesn't care about your acceptance rate(it can definitely be at 1% and you still get orders). It's the unassigned rate that they pay attention to. And I still make money.

I think you have to use common sense like expecting more or less depending on when most customers get paid. It seems slow here now to start the year. Wear and tearing gas is calculated by the government at $0.65 a mile. let's say the average rideshare driver drives 30 mi every hour. that means our wear and tear and gas costs to work are about $20 an hour. 1950 if you want to do the math on the averages I'm assuming. that means if we actually want to make money above and beyond trading car mileage for money, we don't start earning an hourly wage until we're over $20 an hour

If you let the clock expire because you can't make any money, they ding your rating and that means crappy orders from people who don't tip . The non tippers are always the demanding ones who want NO Contact delivery, so they don't have to face the person who is paying for the gas to deliver their food. Then when you do hand it to them turn around then ask, hey you have a tip for me? Then they say oh ya I was going to tip until you said that. BS! It's decent money for the first 50 orders then sucks after that. I spent two hours and made 13 bucks. It cost me $20 for gas. I ask them why they nick your rating if you don't except an order you know you will lose money on, they don't care. They want you to fail.

I was doordashing a couple years ago, but Id mostly only go during dinner rush, start at 5-5:30 and keep going until the orders peter out a few hours later. I had to be getting at least 25/h for the whole time I was out on the road, including wait time where you have no orders coming in, or else I didn't consider it to be worth it. Sometimes during peak pay with stacked orders and good tips I could get up to $45/hr but that would only be for a coupke hrs on Friday or Saturday night. I stopped dashing because DD was continually changing the rules to screw drivers and try to force us to take all the bad orders with low tips, that and order volume really fell off, could barely get any orders during the "dinner rush" any more and it lasted much shorter than before. It was not worth it to dash anymore. It went from being able to go out any night of the week and dash for 4-6 hrs getting consistent orders and being able to make $100-$150 to barely being able to even dash for an hour and a half even on a weekend night before the orders fell off and barely even making $30

I used to make great money on DD, like over $25. Yes, the orders in my market were that good. But, now inflation is killing every one and salaries aren’t keeping up. I’m in the Philly market which is extremely competitive. Now I’m struggling to meet my $ goals with these horribly low offers because there are so many drivers. I usually make less then $20 a hour. I also have to zone chase and driver further out to even get orders. On Fridays a hundred plus dollars was easy money….Not anymore. I remember a few Fridays back DD had a $3 promo and the hot zone was Taco Bell. There had to be 12-13 drivers just sitting there waiting. A few got orders, most drove to another zone and others got some food while waiting. Aw, I miss my old DD days, when $15 orders where nothing.

That doesn't mean anything. You need a longer time line. Each hour is different you can make 10 dollars one and 40 the next. Your city also makes a difference. It's OK, I avg 25 an hour also I know the right times to dash.

This girl got paid literally more that it would take more than two hours at a fast food which is $15 an hour! Her having been able to deliver 6 orders and have more than $50 in two hours would literally be the best decision since you’re increasing your paid with less time working and being your own boss. Who has the freedom to decide when she starts work or doesn’t work and won’t be punished! Only down side about this is that you have to calculate your taxes which you don’t know or how to do them. Is going to suc!

I stay in more concentrated busy area's now, saves gas and general wear and tear on my car. By not planning earlier what I made sounded good at 25 per hour, it's not good after expenses it was shy of 12 an hour.

you’ll average $16 hour even if you speed and hurry. It’s not worth it for your 9-5. Maybe as a 2nd job

I would have never taken that order driving 1 hour for $21 that was stupid to do and F-up on the customer's part as well thinking that was okay to do

Exactly. Who would honestly take a trip that long for low money? Either she did this on purpose or she's really stupid and doesn't understand math.

It depends on the area, the time and the day. Weekends are popping everyday when people are getting off work at 5pm it’s popping like you just gotta know when to dash I make 100$ a day doing that shit

Depending on what your expenses are and where you live at? I think in between $18-$25 an hour is completely fine for DoorDash if you’re working the necessary hours to make that income work.
