Dropped out of top-tier briefly last night. I declined a Dollar General offer of $12 for 35 items going 10 miles. I would've thrown my phone out the window if it was not so new. I swear that being in top-tier has no real benefit Other than being able to dash now.

Doordash is dieing today is Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p and the map it's completely gray. The price per delivery keeps dropping drastically they keep holding orders up until they have two at a time just so they can take $2 away

I sort of agree with you, I don't think they'll kill off doordash but I do think they have the ability to take a bigger chunk of doordash customers than you think. I can't remember the exact numbers, but each amazon warehouse is supposed to have around 70 vans, each van has a minimum of 80 stops, multiplied by multiple routes per day. That's a lot of packages and in turn potential customers. Like you said in the end it's just going to be another app which gives us more options, what amazon is missing though is the integration. Doordash and uber from the customer side make it easy i can order food, groceries, deserts, coffee, request a ride, etc. With amazon their integration with both whole foods and grubhub sucks, unless you're looking for it you don't even realize it's there.

Amazon delivered food in my market before and it was amazing, every order paid around $16 and all pickups/drop-offs were within a block and the food was always ready. When they discontinued the program I was very sad.

My thoughts as far as Amazon goes, IF they are going to charge the customer so little, then the pay for the delivery driver is going to be worse than any gig app out there. The way I figure it is, Amazon is after Walmart, NOT DD or other food apps.

Still don't even see Amazon offering delivery out of Whole Foods for prepared foods like a hot pizza in my area to compete with the pizza places. Whole Foods can without question use the volume these days as they lost a lot of market share. They'll offer it for most other groceries though.

Doordash needs to cut out all the metric games and let all drivers be able to log on as they please, they have more drivers than any other app so I am sure all the orders will get delivered without putting us through all these number games. The only main metrics that should count is CR and customer rating. Also they should give customers the ability to create thier preferred driver list, and give drivers the ability to block certain addresses and customers. I dont think AR should mean anything and drivers should not be punished for not taking offers that are not financially viable to them.

Amazon already tried food delivery and failed. I think they stopped around 4.5 to 5 years ago. As far as grocery delivery, Amazon owns Whole Foods. And I've done thousands of those deliveries, so I don't see anything changing for Doordash or Instacart.

Amazon most likely won't be as discriminate against you for having tickets on your driving record or a small misdemeanor on your background. 🤨 From what I understand, they will hire you at the plant and if you lose your place to live, they will pay for that too until you get on your feet. They are absolutely a company who has humility and some compassion toward the people who work for them. Doordash expects perfection "green checks" on all background checks and does not mind firing drivers even after the driver explains their situation. The Chinese have the luck of the dragon. Amazon is a bit more understanding with situations and people. The jobs pay well because it is a warehouse. There are more Amazon account holders by 141 million. That's a lot of account holders.. Especially, depending on how Amazon plays their game and how strict their hiring process is. Doordash just may lose a lot of "top" "premium" and "platinum" dashers to them too.

I think every giant company is rushing into the poor drivers that supply they're own vehicle, time, and cost of gas now in the cookie jar before we the drivers win the wrongful court date, and time comes to fix injustice pay which is WAY LOWER THEN MIN WAGE PAY going on , in my opinion!!! DD orders are way slower and just like the movie theaters (Hollywood is my business so I know of what I speak) it's the economy causing the crunch. People are having to make deep cuts now into their discretionary spending because their disposable income is completely drying up (paying off maxed out credit cards and catching up on late rent and mortgage) all this thanks to Bidenomics. This is all on Joe Biden and if you're dumb enough to vote for him in November...you deserve four more years of this crap. DD forcing orders on drivers to keep their AR higher seems to be working too because a lot of drivers have quit.

I'm on Grubhub in Baltimore. Orders are few and far between and the amount of $2 and $3 orders is absolutely sickening. Now.. it wasn't like this a couple of months ago. It was one of my primary apps and I was getting decent volume and lots of good/great orders. But then they started doing dumb ish like not letting us toggle on and take orders whenever we wanted. Shrinking the size of delivery zones by like 75% and reducing base pay on all orders to $2... and now it's just 💩💩

My bet is (1) that Amazon will purchase DoorDash before the end of the year. (2) Amazon will use the food delivery platforms to extend themselves into delivering consumables such as cups, napkins, plates, containers, etc. to restaurants. (3) Amazon will incentivize restaurants chains to let them handle last mile delivery of their products from distribution centers to stores. Restaurant chains will take the opportunity to outsource some of their logistics to Amazon (Who is in the logistics business - AKA they provide trucking services). Amazon would simply merge its logics with the doordash market and expand Amazon Flex. It wouldn't be the first time a medium sized fish jumped into the mouth of a whale. $$$ talks, and it also transfers problems to the next owner. Nothing like exiting a game with a winning hand while everyone else deals with the wave of adjustments it creates. It is what it is.

Having another competitor is good for the drivers and the consumers. This why people should vote for Democrats that want to enforce anti-trust law after it lasped after Reagan. Obama started this with a trickle and Biden has gone much further--but rightwing judges have mostly stymied this. Democrats will have to put many more judges on the bench that will enforce all the antitrust laws. If Amazon was willing to take over GrubHub and fire everybody who works for GrubHub that I could see them gaining some significant market share. Have to agree, i think Doordash will likely be fine, if anything happens to it then it won't be related to Amazon delivery directly at least. I do think this does strengthen the argument to work everything you can and try everything you can though since frankly Flex is surprisingly good for pay and maybe Amazon will go full bore for quick delivery, easiest way to do that is pay drivers well. That said i don't know why Amazon feels they need this, so its hard to imagine they care that much, who knows.
