I agree 100%. The entire idea is horrible and ultimately makes the company that supplies the platform a huge chunk of money. They rip off the drivers, and have pretty much everyone that works on the other end of the spectrum (the restaurant and grocery workers) do more work to prepare these orders as on the menus it allows for ridiculous customization of sandwiches etc that a person wouldn't think to order in a drive thru or in person. So the workers spend more time making these orders as some get ridiculous. I work at a 7/11 and we have to literally shop the orders for the drivers and watch them reap all the benefits from it while no increase in our pay for extra duties. So from that aspect I hate drivers and think they should get a real job that doesn't take advantage of others extra work. The whole point is that the system is terribly flawed and creates animosity between drivers and jobs. I literally make a point to speak my mind to every driver that comes in my store.
@MastaDivinity

But I always think thank God I don’t need to do this full-time because I’ll probably be out there 100 hours. I pick and choose and keep my miles down and I would only go more than a few miles if it was a very decent offer. Which has happened like once. It was like 17 for 10 miles and around here that time of year just to see something double digits it was like yeah plus the last time I delivered for the restaurant it was under a mile and it went up by just shy of 14 bucks. For 10 miles I figured it wasn’t gonna go up from 17 something but I was OK with that and it’s a good thing because it didn’t go up. I was like 28 minutes early though so despite a relatively decent amount of cars on the road, it definitely could’ve been worse.

The problem is with THE ECONOMY. Inflation is killing people and not as many people are ordering food to be delivered and many of those that are ordering, aren’t tipping as much. And of course, restaurant prices have gone up, so that contributes to less people ordering. The DoorDash problems are just symptoms of much larger issues in this country.

@@rachmunshine9474 Yeah, it's crazy how fast I came to find DD to be so sneaky when I started driving for them. I am sure all of the services have their bad side, but I really like Uber eats. They don't send me nearly as many offers that make sense for me to take, but I get a good one every 5-6 they throw me and I usually have another lined up before I finish my last. I feel like I spend more time sitting around waiting on DD to send me something. Uber eats keeps me moving and if they have an offer that's horrible and being declined, they will continue to raise the base pay and send it back out to you. I far prefer it and for the DD customers that I do get to speak with, I tell them that Uber eats takes better care of it's contracted drivers. I also tell them not to use the priority delivery on DD because it doesn't truly exist and I tell them if they plan on tipping big and want their driver to see all of it, they should tip just enough to get the order picked up and give the remainder in cash when the driver shows up. I just don't trust DD to be fully transparent at all.🤷

I spend so much on gas, car maintenance & repairs etc. the worst part about it is when tax time comes you are going to be owing the IRS thousands of dollars if you’ve done it full time like I did. With that same acceptance rate, it now is paying less per delivery than UE and IC in 2024. At this point, I only turn the app on when I’m parked and waiting for orders, when I haven’t already gotten an order on the other apps, and pausing it every time I’m driving. @@bertolucasfilms "full time" drivers tend to understand the app better. we knew how to make money on the platform by being more selective. what doordash wants are honeymooners. these are new drivers who take everything because they get a larger share of better orders. after the honeymoon they get a larger share of trash orders. lets say half of your orders are 8-10 bucks, you're much more willing to take the lower paying offers because you're making money. but once the honeymoon ends and you're not making the money you're less willing to take those trash orders and you stop doing doordash. there are far more regular drivers than honeymooners. say there are 100 drivers in your area, 10-20 of them are honeymooners and are getting all the good orders. 80-90 are long term drivers. doordash doesnt care that you're not making money, they are going to milk drivers as much as they can until they quit. they have very low overhead on drivers. base pay is 2 dollars and they're probably making 15 dollars an order. there is no pressure on DD to give a larger share of the money to drivers when they can just hire another driver when they get burned out. thats probably why he's saying that DD doesnt want full time drivers, they want the revolving door of new drivers who just take order until they go broke and get sick of it. make no mistake, you WILL go broke driving for doordash, its just a matter of time. how long will you continue to take trash orders after your honeymoon until you realize theres too many drivers for the share of decent orders. this is why drivers are always complaining about either low base pay or low tip. DD does NOTHING to help the driver. they dont incentivize the customers to give higher ratings (customers only rate when there is a problem, thus low ratings), they dont inform the customers on the actual role of the drivers (bags are sealed but drivers get low rating when items are missing), they dont do enough to promote better tipping from the customers (imform the customer about high milage or fair tipping practices). DD doesnt give the ability for drivers to rate customers (rudeness, no lights on at house, dogs, lack of response etc) most customers order doordash and never look at their phone again, they dont add tips. all year, ive had 1, 1 single customer add a couple bucks after delivery, and in 4 months ive made $15 dollars in cash tips $10 of that from one customer. 90% of my customers never even respond or look at messages or have hand it to me and never show up at the door adding 5 more minutes to the delivery and i have to stand outside the door like a creepy stalker waiting on that 5 minute timer. If DD allowed drivers to rate customers, and customers had to pay more when they have low ratings then shit would change real fast. sadly, DD wants new drivers and high volume of low quality. remember, DD makes the same amount of money regardless if the customer tips. they just want volume. they simply do not care if customers tip. long winded, but there;s your answer.

Oversaturation is a big thing I talk with all the Dasher I come in contact with and you’d be surprised what they do for a living they are engineers ,teachers , nurses welders people that actually have decent paying jobs Except for the teachers, I see that one . I work 60 to 100 hours a week. Have above 80% acceptance rate hundred percent completion and I’m not seeing orders for our hours where before I could start at 5 o’clock in the morning and be busy till 2 o’clock at night the pay has dropped dramatically, and most of the orders are upside down It used to be when they stacked in order you hit the lottery excited about taking stack orders now they’re stacking three orders for six bucks. I was working my butt off last year. As of January 1st, the maps are blank & there's no work. It says I can schedule, but nothing is available on the schedule until 11:30pm or 6am next day. It is crazy! Today I decided to take every order from 8am to 9:30am then it showed it was dead in 5 cities in my area. I took 4 runs & only made $13 during the above time.

But Pedro, other apps are be over saturated. It's to the point of all gig apps having a waitlist.

my earnings last year are so different than how this year is looking, my goodness. Here in Connecticut ( greater Danbury area) using food delivery (multi apping) ; I've seen less and less opportunities on "busy" times, and I think this is due to oversaturation in the market. I could casually earn an easy $100 with a few orders last year on a saturday night; and this year, not even close. Theres too much "dead" time, even when multi apping

Exactly describing my situation and many others as well. At some point, tons of drivers will be out, and the trends will start all over again with new drivers entering the gig markets due to downturns in the economy.

The more you do, the less and less they pay as you get faster and faster and faster at em. Pretty soon that shop n pay that paid 50 dollars, then turns into 42, and then 32 and then 22 and then 9 is what Ive seen!

Not to mention Now if the store employee dosent like your face or the shirt your wearing forget about ever getting orders from the place again EVER!!! For me: McDonald's: forget about it Safeway: forget about it Mel's drive in: forget about it They don't even own the place and they get to pick and choose who gets the order and if you ever get to deliver an order from any of their locations again...... This here is some certified bs.

If the large catering orders were still plentiful daily that would make DoorDash a decent full time app but without the LOP it doesn’t make sense to give DD all your time. I’d limit using the app to 5 or 6 hours a day and use other apps to fill in the gaps during the other workable hours during the day.
