I actually met you and ran into you at Chick-fil-A in Milpitas one day I've been watching your videos are super helpful a lot of stuff you talk about I've already strategize myself like everybody else don't be afraid guys I reject 4.8 miles for $5 all day long I got a 9.7 mi earlier for $10 another seven and a half miles for $8 and I just reject them over and over and over and over for one main reason cuz I don't care it's not worth my time I'm going to spend 20 25 minutes going down just spend another 20-25 minutes to come back up if not more so now you look at in a reality respective I just spent an hour to make $10 granted today's been really slow and I'm not really making much money so I'm trying to accept whatever I can but I'm still rejecting those super far orders for low-paying amounts again thanks bro

I don't even understand what you're saying. I'm not sure anyone else does either."It will say 3 miles" on the offer then "5 to 7 mins" What are "mins"? And, after you take offer the first place you travel to is the restaurant, not house. Most of the times I checked. those offers estimating total miles have been correct. You just have to keep track of what your gps says initially to restaurant, then to customer right after leaving restaurant. Add those two. The only times they're not correct is when the app is not refreshing your current position. Sometimes something happens with their servers or something, but that blue dot shows where you were like 30 minutes ago or something. And, you have to close the app out and reopen to refresh your position. It only takes about 4 seconds, but it's frustrating. I say it's a Doordash server problem and not a personal phone problem because if you go to the r/doordash_drivers subreddit when this is happening, someone has made a post about it. It can work both ways. I've had like a 9 mile offer only be 3 after I accepted. But, I knew it was wrong before I accepted because it had my blue dot way over where I wasn't. I usually try to see where I'm going and stuff by seeing where I am on that map they show at the offer. Yeah, so were you comparing miles to minutes? Or, was that just a typo?

I've actually noticed a huge change ever since the priority program became a thing. My area was one of the pilot areas so I've been dealing with it for a little over a year now. I make way (and I mean way) less money now then I did before the program and I've transitioned and adapted to take orders differently as best as I can but it really seems like you are heavily punished in my area for having a low AR. I recently just looked at my earnings tab to confirm something and I noticed every order I take has a $2.50 base pay. Doesn't matter if I drive 2 miles or 12 miles. Doesn't matter if the order takes me 10 mins or 30 mins. I get $2.50 every time. The only time I don't get $2.50 is on Shop & Deliver orders or doubles/stacks in which case I'll get $4. I may be putting on my tinfoil hat but I do believe they're giving me less base pay per order because I have a lower AR. If you take into account that I usually take 10-15 orders a day and add up the $1-$3 in base pay that I'm just not receiving anymore then it's like $20-$30 right there that's just cut off my daily pay. The base pay is supposed to go up based on distance and time and IS NOT effected by customer tips they say but why is an $18 order going 11 miles and takes 30 mins to deliver only $2.50 base pay and a $15.50 tip? It should've been $4.75-$5.25 base pay. I really don't want to have to take "those orders" to get a higher AR so I can be apart of the "Higher Paying Orders" but I feel like I'm genuinely being forced to. IDK... Am I the only one experiencing this?
@psyxhstr3105
@psyxhstr3105 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I feel almost the exact same way, I had a 68% acceptance rate and it still fucks me over, even though I'm so close to getting those supposed "high-paying orders" because I accept more. I feel like we are continually being forced to but at the same time I noticed that my algorithym weems to specificly try to keep me within a specific AR range. For example: as soon as I started as I usually get a double digit pay order, with single-digit mileage, great right? Yes, sometimes. As soon as I start usually the high-paying orders are extremely low risk ans are quick. Once I'm done with that, I get a boarderline offensive low paying order. So obviously I decline it and depending on where I stop the dash it's just a circuit of staying in between 2-3% and its hard to increase it when you get so many shit offers.
@kimmylovesdisney9793
@kimmylovesdisney9793 Жыл бұрын
@psyxhstr3105 It is getting to the point if you decline an order if you're over 50% acceptance rate, they dropped you down 2% But If I accept 5 orders and row, I only go up 2%! Someone tell me how that makes any sense It's a game dordashes trying to win. Because people are not using delivery services as much as they used to. Because money is tight. Also, people are not tipping. So they know we are not going to take the orders. And they're trying to do all they can to force this on us. So they can stay in business and make their billions of dollars on our hard-earned time and the wear on our automobile.

It's important to be consistent to the point that you find out the quality of a spot at a certain time on a certain day, but to try other times and spots as well or you may be stuck wondering why you aren't making money because you're working a poor spot or poor time. Late night used to be my go-to because I made good money during zero traffic periods late night. But it's gotten worse and I tried earlier shifts and staying near the big restaurants in my area and pulling a lot better money even with a bit more mileage ratio (from under 10% gas costs to 10%-15%). It's definitely possible here to do $800-1000 easily just Thursday thru Sunday. Even more if you push over 40h. I've been dashing in my area over five years and always have to adapt.

Hello Bentley! I support you and pray for continued prosperity and protection for you and your loved ones.🙏🏽 I experienced an anomaly this morning with an order of $20+ for Starbucks in Friendly Center in Greensboro. Blessings - 5.8 miles. I loaded my car as the order was 3 big bags, then I heard a beep, new order Chick-fil-A. My Starbucks order was ghost! I immediately called DoorDash support twice, paused my orders, communicated through the App, apologized profusely to our customer, delivered, captured photos, and emailed them to DoorDash support. The strange thing is my chat ended, then disappeared, and I planned to have records in the text history. Has this happened to anyone before? 3 year Dasher here, and I am concerned. 🙏🏽 Let's go Dynamite Dashers!🎒

Completely forgot that earlier last month I requested the reset, and too my surprise I woke up today with a refresh 😕 Just remember it’s based on your last 100 orders. So if you start fresh and decline an order you’ll have a low AR out the gate. Similarly if you just grind those orders you’ll quickly shoot up.

Several things, you will not make 25.00hr on DD...period Secondly; if you don't calculate the mileage back to your zone; you are doing your self a disservice and wasting miles. You will more than likely NOT; get an acceptable order going back in your zone; as DD normally pause goiing back to your zone Thirdly, high or low AR; DD customers don't tip enough to get 25.00 an hour in most areas. It truly depends if you are in a very big city where orders are constant... Noone can tell you what works; it's trial and error in your zone. You have to figure out what works....and that is the truth

You know I'm watching this video and I'm confused and I know it based on market. But I worked hard to get my rate up to 68% matter of fact this morning I went from 63 to 68% in 4 and 1/2 hours. The offers were not great but they were manageable. I went out in the afternoon from from 11:30 a.m. until about 2:30 within that time frame my AR dropped to 57%. I got nothing but low pay high mile offers. I thought when you got higher AR then you get better offers not here either that or my app is broken lol.

Regarding the mileage, it may be from you, to the pick-up to the delivery, but it's not road miles. It's as the crow flies. This may not matter much in some markets, but my area is trisected by rivers, and there are hills, ravines, and other geographical features that can drive you nuts. I may get an offer that is right across the river from me. Door Dash may measure it as a mile, but since I need to get to a bridge to cross the river, it may really be six miles! If you're in a market like this, you need to look closely at that map before you take the published mileage at face value.

Used to be me when I first started out until I learned that I didn’t have to take it. I’m hovering right around 70-73 now. It’s so hard to get back up to even 80! All they do is give you like 5 no tip excessive mileage orders in a row. Who’s doing that? They might throw in a 6.50 for 1 mile here and there. It’s ridiculous! I went out the other evening just to get 3 orders so I could keep my TD status for this month and wouldn’t you know all the orders were no TIP excessive Mile orders. I made about 11 bucks in that time frame. I even tried switching to earn by time one day to get my AR up so you don’t know how much you make until you finish and they barely sent me any orders! I think i did 3 deliveries in about 2 hours. There’s definitely something wrong with DoorDash! Lol

Bentley, i’ve been dashing for a few years, I’m almost up to 8000 deliveries, and I used to decline orders all the time got down to zero acceptance rate and was doing fine back during the pandemic, but in the past year I noticed that I got better orders if I kept my acceptance rate up, so I am now at a 90% acceptance rate and Very recently, as recent as three months ago I dropped down below top Dasher and discovered that not being a top Dasher, at least in Portland Oregon, meant that for a full month I’ve barely got any orders at all sent to me. I struggled to even pay my rent that month. To even feed myself. It’s as if , at least in this market, if you’re not a top Dasher, Door Dash sends you nothing in the way of orders. So now I have to make sure that I stay in the top Dasher program or else I’ll lose my housing. It’s gotten bad out here. When I first started dashing it was great, I was making good money, but now I’m hanging on to Threads, and I’ve gotten so far behind, that getting another job at this point is even out of reach because I’m too far behind to even wait for my first paycheck. Door Dash is punishing us out here. Have you heard of this happening in other markets? It’s bad out here. Desperate in Portland, Oregon.

I always calculate by time. If it is out of the zone I figure how much time it will take to get back and if it is worth the roundtrip effort. 5, 6, 7 dollar orders in the zone are fine if they are quick enough to be worth it. If I get a $5 order done in 10 min or less and I'm close to restaurants on drop off I'll take it. Often times they add on or I get an order immediately following. If it is $5 for 20 min of my time, that averages to $15 an hr I pass. Also it keeps your AR up so less of the shitty orders come through as well.

Curious what you do in between orders? Park and wait or drive around/between hot spots? I just started dashing and do have some wait time still, I'm guessing because I've been able to "dash now" instead of having to schedule as a new Dasher...sometimes there's a note that there's "many dashers" online, assuming this is affecting the amount of orders I'm getting? I'm still happy, I made around $15.16/hr over the last 8 days so obviously I'd like to increase that a bit but also dont want to be sitting around. My town is not a big town either so this may be part of the reason (around 50k population)

In my third year now, San Diego market... DD is crafty, yes I've always known how the offers I get can slow me down by distance. Distance is a key factor relative to how active merchants are on any given day. In that sense, its not DD being brilliant, the market will show whether money is being allocated to competing platforms such as Instacart, Uber, etc. My stats are Top Dasher range but most of my best days and weeks are by floating around 50% A/R... DD simply needs to hammer merchants face to face and stop being cunning with the schemes. Lose the San Diego market as diverse as it is and you are a losing organization.

@@josephweonkingjr.8947 yup all day long! And if you do happen to get your $2 per mile., it’s usually a $4 for 2 miles from a McDonald’s. Lol. It’s gotten to the point where I would consider taking all those offers that you just listed because if I decline it the next one is going to be even worse!!

You will have to work super hard to get your acceptance rate at 60 percent if you below that.. taking orders all day or night.. but u will struggle to catch up.. mostly small orders 😒🤔😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💯✅

Why do you always blame the drivers for not making good money on door dash? Have you not seen the offers they send out? You must be special, and get huge paying offers. Its not like that for most drivers.

You got to grind. Period. Only way you’ll learn. Biggest thing I can say as a pitfall is to not take orders that lead you out of the zone you’re servicing. Some people say to do the whole $2/mi thing. My prio has been acceptance rate. It seems like DD keeps me busy being above 50%. Also, Top dasher is a must. Dash Anytime has been real handy.

Taking orders outside your zone is fine. If it's enough to cover the return trip. If I take an order out of the zone for $20 and Im back in 30 min. It is worth my time. If it takes me an hour and 10 min it is not.

Just depends, I consider if the order is going to place me near working area or not. If it's long distance but I can return to working area immediately that's not as bad as the ones to people in the outer areas. Then I consider double the distance doordash states as I have to drive the entire distance back usually. $2/mile is still a rough estimate there, more important to know the time it will take.

Yeah I usually see if it’s taking me to another zone I can dash in. Since I like to keep my T.D. status the ability to dash now in those situations make a difference. If it’s taking me outside my zone and I wasn’t able to dash in that zone once I’m there then that would be an issue and I would think hard about it. These orders rarely ever pay you enough to cover the round trip. I haven’t seen one yet. Especially if it’s 10 miles or more.

I have noticed over time my orders are getting higher and longer rides are not always a negative thing because 90% of the time door dash will route me back to where I want to be as I pick up orders on the way back. To all those new drivers out there your appearance makes a difference dress in business casual clothes and keep a good mood it’s rough in the beginning but over time it becomes easier to achieve your goals
