Growing up in the 80s, my dad HATED my music. But one day while raking leaves or something, I was listening to this cassette, my dad walked by, stopped, listened, and nodded his approval at me. This is a highlight of my childhood.

I was 13 or 14 and reading Dune when I heard this for the first time. I bought Piece of Mind and got to this last track, when I recognized some names and words and was like, damn, this about Dune! Grabbed my cassette multifold cover booklet and read the tiny ass lyrics. I always loved this album so much. This was my start with Maiden other than hearing Run to the Hills on the radio. Started working my way back and continued to follow them from there. Up the Irons! 🤘

Iron Maiden introduced me to many books, movies, shows that I would have probably never found out about. Yes T!!!! Definitely have Tasha do a reaction to this, let's see she if she catches the references to the books/movie in the lyrics. We'll see how much attention she's been paying to the lyrics of Iron Maiden if she's able to put the two together! LOL. For another relatively obscure Maiden tune from Piece Of Mind......I suggest "Sun And Steel" which is often overlooked compared to the majorly well known tracks from Piece Of Mind. Although you're correct...there's really no such thing as a "Bad Iron Maiden Song"....just some are more well known than others. Give it a listen....you will not be disappointed! This album was one of my very first LPs I owned as a young kid; I was ten when this came out and I got it as an easter-gift from my godmother. Since I had no stereo with a turntable of my own, I had to use my father's - with which he gladly never had a problem. This song instantly was my absolute favorite - among the many others on this incredible album! Trying to sing along to the best of my abilities also helped me practice english before I even had regular classes in school as a 5th-grader... - the lyrics on the inlet-cover were pretty helpful, too... ;-) When great songs like this find their reactors to I always hope those guys really never heard that given song before, as nothing kicks me like people's genuine reactions to stuff...

One day when I was about 14 years old... My dad heard me listening to Revelations by iron maiden... He made a sardonic remark about how he could play all of that stuff... So I handed in my guitar and sarcastically said show me... He said okay give me some time to figure it out.... About 2 days later he admitted to me that he had no idea how to play any of that stuff.... And then pretty much every day he would bring a rolled joint into my bedroom and asked me to turn him on to music..... He was a metalhead ever since.... Up until the day you died.... It was a rare thing to see him without a Megadeth or iron maiden shirt on in his later years.... He showed me how to play in drop d tuning long before drug detuning became common... He said that he learned it from old Waylon Jennings songs.... But I was a more natural lead guitarist... I was ripping out Kirk Hemmet solos after I had only been playing a few days ..... So he and I would give each other guitar lessons...... Metal music was a great bonding experience for my father and I.... Thanks to bands like iron maiden.... Up the irons forever and ever
