You must first look at the Redcat Valkyrie. I'm telling you, it is better than the full size Maxx, which I own btw. You are selling yourself short if you don't. The Valkyrie is a 4s truck about the same size as the Maxx. Right out of the box it is capable of between 60 and 65 mph. All for $300. The V2 Maxx costs $570 and does not handle as good as the Valkyrie and out of the box is about 50 mph top speed. Both are built equally sturdy but the Valkyrie offers a Hobbywing Max 10 esc and a 7.4 volt BEC to the Maxx's 6 Volt BEC. This new, smaller Maxx is going to cost about the same as this 4s Valkyrie but will likely be about 30+ miles per hour slower. Comparing the BL 2s system with a Hobbywing Max 10 is laughable. The throttle control advantage with the Valkrie will be significantly smoother at all speeds. Traxxas vechiles, with the exception of the Maxx, Xmaxx and xrt surge and cog like there is no tomorrow. Traxxas is very good at marketing, but they lag the competition in most areas despite charging a ton more for much less.

The larger scale and more than likely larger price point won’t make this a Grom competitor. They may be looking to capture some of that market, but if this is more than $70 than a Grom that’s a tough sell. The great thing about this scale is it’s fairly easy to make a fun durable truck but I also expect a lot of cost cutting from Traxxas. I can already assume the servo will be absolutely junk and even though it’s brushless it probably won’t be much faster than the Grom lineup. Maybe it’ll be the same servo as the XMAXX in that case, adequate for a 12 scale but junk for a large scale 😂 Let’s do a Bingo for this truck, I’ve got my bets on junk servo, poor quality plastic gears, and failing electronics
@DoRC4 ай бұрын
I agree with the servo but we'll have to see you on the electronics. I really do hope it has steel gears. As far as competition I think that's a tough one. It almost certainly won't be direct competition price wise but there are a lot of people that think the Grom is simply too small and underpowered. For those people this could be exactly what they're looking for.
@urgaynknowit4 ай бұрын
Other than the battery tray, with the brushless system, and a price of around 200-250$, this may be a decent contender for the “grom” sized lineup from each brand . All we need is a losi from and a team associated one 🤟🏼😇

For anyone thinking this would compete with a Grom, don’t think that. Groms are small and brushed with 2-in-1 ESC/receiver electronics. This Mini Maxx is upmarket. Grom is 1/18 and this is what, 1/12? 1/14 maybe? Not even in the same size class, and this Mini Maxx also has proper standalone components. No 2-in-1 nonsense here. I’m saying this as a guy who loves Arrma and is a big critic of Traxxas. Credit where credit is due, this truck looks promising, and you can’t expect this to be less than 200. It should be priced like a brushless Associated Reflex. Not a Grom.

And who would buy this over a Valkyrie then? Except those who either don't know about it or are diehard Traxxas fans. I own both the Maxx and the Valkyrie MT. The Valkyrie MT rubs circles around the Maxx and I do like the Maxx, dont get me wrong. The Valkyrie is a smaller version of the 6s Big in how it handles. It is the best release of the year in my opinion. If this is priced anywhere within $100 of that, and people buy it, instead of the Valkyrie, that would be a terrible decision. Unless, the Valkyrie is too much to handle. I could see that being the case but then it should be priced in the $100 to $150 range. If Redcat can put out a truck that competes with $800 vechiles, for $300, then this should honestly be no more than $50. That is literally the argument here. I won't claim the Valkyrie is on the same level as Big Rock 6s but it is better than anything Traxxas offers. Traxxas vechiles need better handling. Plain and simple. They all handle like bricks on wheels. Why aren't they upgrading the Maxx instead of coming out with this little shit? The Maxx is due for an update although I suspect the Maxx Slash was that update which is unfortunate because that is actually inferior to the Maxx not superior. In order to not lose sales to Redcat, they best think about how they can improve the Maxx. Perhaps by start by addressing the handling. Perhaps also the insatiable appetite it has for eating its own drive drive shafts would help as well. The plastic has a nasty habit of degrading within the first year which leads to the bearings becoming compromised and needing to be replaced. A pretty hefty job that I did not expect and one that has negatively affected my opinion on the Maxx's supposed durability.

Based on what you are saying, this could be the grom killer, but I am sure they will price themselves right out of that idea. I would guess they will price it around $275. And I bet that BL2s won't be any faster than the brushed grom.
@DoRC3 ай бұрын
I think the price will be closer to 250 but personally I think all small RCs are in competition with each other. Of course there are always going to be people that buy for very specific reasons such as price alone but there is a huge chunk of people who would never buy a Grom simply because it's too small and not brushless. This solves both those problems.
@bbeckers243 ай бұрын
@@DoRC I think $250 is still too steep. There is too much available in the 10 scale in this price range. Quantum 2 is on sale for $250. New redcat 4s is $300. I think its going to be a good truck but I think these smaller trucks need to be $200 or less to consider.

@@bbeckers24 Well yes if you compare it to similarly priced options in the 1/10 scale range it probably will never seem like a good deal but these smaller cars have a feel to a lot of people simply because of their size.
