I'll tell you the kraton is hands down my favorite rc truck of all time. It holds a special place for me because 4-5 years ago i only had a few rcs, (granite, typhon 3s, cheetah, dhk maximus) and the kraton was my first big 1/8th and i remember opening that box and blown away how big it was in person and a real deal metal, hobby grade rc. Then i drove it and was even more impressed! Its a true beast! Now i got about 20+ and its still my favorite! (Kraton exb current kraton)

The k6 and most 1/8 scale truggy style trucks really strike the perfect balance. Until now the Kagama was the best at that balance but I think this at least comes very close to it. It doesn't handle quite as well but it has other advantages

HOLY COW. Arrma have really outdone themselves here. This is precisely why I prefer Arrma over some brands. And most importantly, they're really giving extremely high expectations for the next version of the Kraton EXB. Although I do prefer the standard red and black scheme that Arrma has.

My new Arrma EXB V2 RTR is only 2 weeks old, I got a really great deal on it. The aluminum braces, SR6200 RX, and bulkheads are well worth the $100 IMO. I suspect a Kraton EXB V3 will soon be announced with the clipless body, and new hubs. That will likely mean a higher price. I'm not sold on Arrma's clipless design, but will add the new battery strap to mine.

I’m SO FUCKING GLAD they’re throwing a lot of the reg K6 parts to the new V2 parts. Mainly because that means I don’t have to pay 1.5-2x the price to upgrade my V1 EXB. Thank god. So, I’m assuming, now, that all the old parts are gonna get clearanced and the new ones will hopefully be around the price of the old ones. Gonna try to spread the word about em as much as possible. For a bit, the new EXB shocks were damned near $140 a set. LOVE YOU ARRMA. Also, great vid man. It’s been so fun seeing you grow from running Banggood specials to grabbing the newest/hottest shit out. Being able to do that and having the funds to do it is gonna continue to grow the channel biiggg. I just bought a v5 2 months ago... This would have saved me a lot of money. I bought the exb shock caps a 7075 chassis, rpm rear skid, rpm bumper, center 2 piece brace, servo saver, hubs with bigger bearings and I hated the all the red aluminum lol.... I think the only thing (aside from the hideous color scheme) is that they used 29mm version diff cups. I like the 31mm cup. Wonder how the weight compares to the old v5
@DoRC
@DoRC Күн бұрын
The EXB diff gears generally are considered to be stronger but the normal ones are fine too. I looked at it compared to the EXBV2 and it's very slightly heavier. I expect it to also be very slightly heavier than the old V5
@keldonator
@keldonator Күн бұрын
@DoRC Yea I think it's just the cups themselves that are worse. But the aftermarket exb cups fix that issue. I found it odd the new Notorious is about half pound heavier than the new Kraton

Have they upgraded the LSD sun gears with the X in the back for the output shaft/pin? On my EXB (guessing v1) roller, I kept blowing those gears out without having LSD plates in it. The X part of the gear would essentially shear off the gear, then chew up the pins. I wanted mine to be open diffs, so I got the arrma shim kit for that and then blew out the rear diff 3 bash sessions in a row. I now have arrma alloy 2 piece cups, M2C out drives, 2 small LSD plates on the back of each sun gear to support the X and one large LSD plate in the cup/gear to make up the difference. So far, that has held up to the max6g2/4990-1650kv with 20T pinion. But I had changed the diffs all to that setup when I had the older max6v3/4985-1650kv with 20T as that's what I put in my roller pretty early on. Wonder if they will krank out an EXB with all these updates on it. I haven't looked to see what the exb's offer now. Mine was the older cheap roller with plastic bulkheads. I ended up with m2c chassis anyway after taco'ing the "exb" one early on.

Very tough. The Kagama is slightly cheaper and I think handles slightly better but I think this might just barely have the edge in durability and definitely has the edge in aftermarket support and ease of replacement parts purchasing. It's not hard to get TC parts but you can't go get them at your LHS. Ultimately I would just look at the two and buy whichever one you think is cooler. I don't think you'll be disappointed either way

How is the motor not overheating on a 16t pinion? I'd say they really did something crazy with the ESC if its getting 67 mph out of the box from another youtuber. The pillow ball suspension change has me thinking... why didn't they just scrap it for links? The pillow ball design is kind of unnecessary since nobody races these. Every other change looks solid and hopefully the diff outdrives are not cracking like the EXB ones. Funny I was eyeing up a Sledge until these dropped today.
@DoRC
@DoRC Күн бұрын
The pillow ball design is pretty durable and fairly inexpensive which is probably why they're using it. Between the ESC changes and the heat sinking fan it's definitely working.

The shocks should not have air left in them they have vacuum cavities when not fully compressed. push them fully down some oil should come from the bleed hole then replace the screw. Your method will insure every shock is slightly different and very inconsistent.
@DoRC
@DoRC Күн бұрын
These emulsion style shocks actually operate by design with some air in them. Because they don't have bladders there has to be a little bit of air in there to compress. The emulsion name itself denotes this because it's running on an emulsion of air and oil. Obviously you don't want a ton of air but a little bit is fine. As far as the consistency you're right I definitely could have made the more consistent but at least in my experience with emulsion style shocks for bashing it doesn't really make much difference.

@chrisginoc
@chrisginoc Күн бұрын
Honest question. Why would you be buying a Vorteks and compare it to the Kraton 6s? It’s not even on the same level. Apples to oranges. Either get the Vorteks and grow out of it into the Kraton 6s or get the Kraton 6s and grow into it slowly.
@th3w4nted
@th3w4nted Күн бұрын
@ I wanted the Kraton 4S v2 but it needs quite a lot of money to be thrown at it out of the box ie. New servo saver, ESC programming box to fix the high LVC setting etc. When the Vorteks 223S came out, it looked like a good package that I could run without investing anything more into it, knowing that it’s not really the car I want.
@chrisginoc
@chrisginoc Күн бұрын
@ I’ve been in and out of the hobby for a long time and here are my observations : Ignore other sell out KZbinrs hyping up a product. All 3s or 4s models will NEVER be as solid out of the box as a 6s model specially BLX or EXB models. Can a 3s or 4s model be upgraded to be close to or as good as a 6s model? Maybe but it requires money. Try and go 6s and grow into it with a 4s battery with 100+c discharge or run it 6s with the remote at 50/75% . You won’t regret it. A 3s or 4s is good for once you have a collection going and just want extra smaller sized bashers and are good for an intro to the hobby for many people. After a 15 year break from the hobby years ago my intro back into the hobby was a 3s Typhon and that thing is still fun. 3s and 4s are less expensive, but in the long run you will wish you would have gone with more power. Save up a little more and wait or make the stretch for a 6s rig.

The "REAL speed" comment was to fix their OWN issues. They said 65 on their boxes for years but the truck was bout 50-55mph until you put the "speed" pinion on and then they told you to keep it on road and not off road. Maybe the update on the ESC can handle the higher gearing offroad now? The Corally's actually do their box speed WITHOUT a pinion change. Many of us have proven that via speed runs.
@DoRC
@DoRC Күн бұрын
Yeah this one doesn't come with a speed pinion so I'm assuming they mean with the pinion in the box.
