The fastest way for me is you have to ask for a lower salary something around 40k then after 6 months or one year change the compy you will get something around 70k then after 1 or 2 years change the company again you wil get the 6 figure salary, my fault was i always asked for 70k to 90k from The beginning because i trusted my knowledge with 5 years of experience but that didn't work because i didn't have a programmer job in my resume because all my jobs was my own startup not just projects they was real business startup

@@luka9340 guess it depends on what you wanna do, I stopped my journey 10 months in, but putting an online store together is good practice. Shopify store would be good also if you don't mind using Liquid. Online business is gigantic so to increase chances I'd say utilize the popularity. Web apps are fine, but try to make something unique. Best of luck Ps yeah you can apply for jobs, just fake it til you make it bud, that's how all this works. Half or more of the people that publish job postings don't even know anything about the industry.

@trentasaurus
@trentasaurus Жыл бұрын
Yeah maybe in the full video he clarifies what "the basics" is, but I'm not sure when i should start applying. It's already time consuming enough learning to code. I've done the html/Css and JavaScript courses on freecodecamp, then i started with the Odin project and finished the foundations course, and now I'm working on the Todo list in the js section. I feel like I need more impressive projects to get hired with no experience but maybe it's time to start

Basic is knowing enough you can actually code and be able to do projects on your own, not that the code or project you’re building has to be perfect but you should be able to do it good or bad just able to do it
@df6148
@df6148 Жыл бұрын
At first I thought it was just knowing how to make programs that do simple stuff like display a message on your computer or being able to use object oriented programming. But all of that is fine in the practice world, so For me it’s being able to deploy your project into a live atmosphere like the web. Not a Wordpress site but like a front end that you created that’s running on a server hosted some place like Amazon. Or a backend server running in python that listens for calls and requests. Or even both. But just getting it into ‘production’. There’s the development phase and then the actual production version that the public use. Once you can actually produce something into a live setting than I’d say you know the basics of what the job will actually be. Version control with git is probably the number one thing I’ve learned no matter what language.

Yes, I've seen many career transitioners with *no* prior coding experience in their 40's, 50's, and even 60's get hired. A few tips: avoid "fast paced, lots of deadlines, startup-mentality" places. Those are for your under 40 crowd, especially under 30. Long nights, output over quality, move-fast-break-things etc. Usually this is a terrible match for the older crowd. Find places that are a 9-5, rarely ever any deadlines, quality is valued, "we use boring solutions" kind of place. There are a ton of these jobs. Reach out to the tech community in your city, get on Meetup and find groups and events related to coding, attend all of them (most are remote now). This will build up your network within your local community and help you form connections and get people to remember your face. From this you can ask questions like "what's your tech stack", "what libraries do you use", "what's the culture like there", "what processes do you follow/do/use", "how often do you hire", etc. By doing this you will know what is more in demand where you live. "React" is popular enough that it's fairly easy to find a job almost anywhere with it, but it is one of the worst technologies on the frontend in 2022 (it's a very 2014 technology). You may find that it is popular in your city, or you may find that other frameworks have a lot of traction where you live. Same with backend, there are some "Ruby" cities, some C#/.NET cities, some JS cities, etc. There will always be a mix of these things, but if you ask devs that have been rooted in the local scene for a long time, they'll tell you what is most common where you live. Or you can pick whatever stack is most convenient for you and go the fully remote route, this is far more viable now for those "starting out" in 2022, than it was 2 years ago. When applying, focus on what's relevant to the position, exclude things that aren't from your resume, be confident, but also honest in interviews. good luck

 TheJaredWilcurt's comment was very spot on, I would listen closely! Web 20 years ago was completely different so be ready to learn from the beginning, unless you have some programming knowledge. I would say the demand is relative, but in my experience full stack is less in demand for junior jobs. I would go for frontend in your case, it is somewhat easier to grasp. But I would say React is your best bet. Oh and age affects everyone differently. After a certain age, some people find it hard to adapt to new knowledge and be flexible in learning new things and features, and if you want a career in web, I think it is an important skill.
