Hey! Thank you this was very insightful. Do you happen to know any way around entry with a shared vehicle that's not in your name? Also, did you have to have a vet sign off on Fiona before you left MX?

Hi! Yes. We needed a health certificate from Mexico for Fiona. Also proof of vaccinations. Rabies, distemper, all the usual ones. Sorry, we don’t know much about the borrowed vehicle. I think you need a notarized poder. For more details check out the FB group Panamerican Travellers Association.

Hey guys, great video! We are leaving Canada in Jan and will be making our way to Nicaragua and will be travelling through Mexico and Guatemala. To enter Guatemala along with the vet health certificate did you need a zoological sanitary certificate? We have not heard about this anywhere except for one KZbin video...we are hoping it is something they got but did not need. TIA.

Thanks for watching. We’ve never heard of this. We crossed into Guatemala on the way to Panama and on the way back. All we needed was the health certificate. The vet we went to in Palenque was very familiar with what was required to cross. Keep in mind that La Mesilla Is a very hectic border. We’re so happy we crossed through the one to the north. Don’t forget to check out our failed Costa Rican crossing video and then the successful crossing video. We were missing a some paperwork from Rivas to gain entry to CR the first time. As a result we were stuck between borders for 6 hours. We got it right the second time!

Hi Ana. No. Proof of vaccinations (no titre tests) and a recent health certificate. We got our health certificate done in Palenque. This was a great border crossing. Going through La Mesilla on the way back was awful. If we had to do it over, we would have chosen this border again for the way back. It’s a bit of a detour though. Thanks for watching!

Do you speak Spanish? This is my biggest concern for January. Driving to Panama and very little Spanish... yikes!

We don't but we relied heavily on Google translate. If you don't feel confident you can also try joining a caravan. Lots of people go it alone with no Spanish though. You will learn as you go and start now with duolingo.
