Doris Day began her career as a big band singer. Her later fame as a major Hollywood star has tended to eclipse the memory of her singing career, but she was an exceptionally versatile popular singer with a pleasant, intimate singing style that still resonates over 70 years later.

Yes! The Great Kirk Douglas, who passed away in 2020 at 103 years old being one of the last classic Hollywood stars alive, along with Olivia de Havilland who also passed away the same year and at the same age. It's good to see that Michael resembles his father, he must have been like 7 years old by the time this movie was released.

When I was a wee bairn I could not stand Doris day. Seemed corny. I heard a busker playing in town years ago. She was playing a tape. "Who's that wonderful singer?" It was Doris. I hadn't realised how well she sang. Then Annie get your Gun. Great movie." The black hills. Top song perfectly done on the wagons. Now I want to see what happens in this movie. Love this song

One of my favorite classic jazz movies.... I found out later that it is a heavily fictionalized version of the Bix Beiderbecke story. I didn't quite catch what was going on with his wife, played by Lauren Bacall, when I was young...but she was apparently gay and left him. It was "coded" and not said explicitly in the film.
