More reliable replacements for a failed Ford fuel pump driver module

Some popular Ford vehicles have fuel pump issues more often than some other brands, and a lot of that has to do with the design and mounting location of the original equipment fuel pump driver module.
Our Dorman OE FIX replacement modules address the reasons behind the relatively high failure rate of the factory design, starting with where the original modules are mounted. The electronic module is obviously exposed to dirt, water, and road salt. Given that the casing is made of aluminum, they don’t rust, but oxidation starts from the day the vehicle leaves the factory. Our OE FIX modules are coated with epoxy to prevent exposure to the elements and better resist oxidation and use a more robust sealant when attaching the covers to the housings, since that’s a spot where water intrusion can occur.
We also modified the mount for crossmember-mounted modules. The surface mounting used by the original can be a cause of failure in factory modules, because once the paint on the vehicle lets in some water, the steel rusts, and then road salt, water, oxygen, and dissimilar metals combine to cause significant galvanic corrosion. Our version uses a unique rubber isolation mount that installs easily through either blind holes or through-bolts. This mounting system isolates the driver module from vibration and road shocks and prevents water from damaging water infiltration, virtually eliminating the chance of severe corrosion occurring in the future.

Dorman has a great reputation, when I see that name on a part it makes me happy. I'm going to check out a 1999 Ford E450 chassis under a motorhome with the 6.8 liter V-10, it cranks but won't start. It's great to know one more item to check. Thanks for the great video!

Hello, good question! It does not. Up until the body change in the early 2000's, those year F150's have the module built into the pump in the tank.

I thought my module was bad and then i just switched rhe fuel pump relay and it was fixed. Always check the relay first. You can just temporarily swap one to see if it works.
