Both of my dogs are rescues. Your videos remind me of when I found my second. He was deep into an unused ATV trail. Me and 2 of my friends took a wrong turn and as we were turning around to get back on the main trail there he was. He was looking at us with eyes that said i'm not going to make it. Can you help me? His paws were absolutely raw. no cushion left. He could barely walk. And he was very thin. I gave him some food and he let me pet him. I made sure he didn't have injuries and I put him across my legs on the ATV and he rode like that for an hour and a half. When we got home he met my other rescue and they both cuddled together after 5 minutes. We're family ever since. he never ever leaves my side.

One day I'll have a dog. It'll come from a foster place. I'll try to choose an old dog because only few people accept to adopt them. I say I'll try because the animal will choose too. It's a true encounter. Both the man & the dog can say yes or no. If it's a younger dog I won't mind. But truly, I'd prefer an old one.

Jordan Singh - I was brought up with dogs around me all the time when I was a child. I noticed how much this animal was clever and sensitive, Meeting a dog that U don't know is a TRUE encounter: each one gives their opinion about the sudden connection through their behaviour. If a dog isn't interested in U at all he smells your legs and your hands a little but doesn't lose time to look at U or stay by your side any longer even a few minutes: he comes to u and then go away quickly. Connection is broken instantly. And don't insist because U can be bitten: dogs like any animal is honest naturally. No hypocrisy.

I had a dog since i was 2 years old and she died a few years ago with the age of 16! :') We took her over from a farm where they abused 2 dogs... this dog came to us and the other one to our granny so she took the other one. But eventually we had to sleep both in because she got an attack and it was her first... and the other had cancer in her throat. But they were both best friends :D Now i have a labrador 2 years old and i still never forgot our old good girl and our granny with her dog. :)

I rescued a terrified puppy from a dog fight, she was only maybe even a few weeks old? And a bigger dog was biting her so I took her off the street, she had her ear ripped and a bad leg, so I took her to the animal hospital and they gave her the heartworm and other shots and took care of her bad injuries, I took her home and the entire night she slept on me and it's been almost a year now and she is such an amazing dog! She's so playful, sweet, and a good guard dog infact. Rescuing these angels are such an amazing thing..God bless what these men and women all do to protect/rescue these beautiful creatures..

Bilbo: Some of those comments were aimed at being mean, probably just hurtful kids trolling. But there are also lots of ignorant people in the world. I don't mean that as a putdown. Ignorance is educable, it just means a lack of information, which is easily remedied with education. I don't think those trolls would have the balls to say those nasty things to your face, they hide in the shadows. I'm a wildlife rehabilitator. I still think about one incident long ago when I had picked up a bird from the gutter that was poisoned and having seizures, I had him in a closed box to calm him down in the dark, and for safe transport, and a girl told me I should put it back, challenged me about why I had confiscated his "freedom" and put him in darkness. I said, he's having seizures, he's helpless and would be run over by a car in the gutter, this is helping him, he's disoriented and suffering and I can help him, he'll die out there, do you really think he should be in the gutter where a car will run him over? And the bubblehead wouldn't listen or back down... she hadmthis vapid look in her eyes and really didn't understand the need for someone to intercede, any more than what Eldad is doing. It's stunning that there are people like that who just can't understand how much trouble these animals are in. They can't recover in their own, or fend for themselves. Not everyone is willing or competent to "bite the bullet" and do what rescuers like Hope for Paws does. And it's poignant because almost every animal in trouble, whether wild, exotic or domestic, it's because of people, and it's up to people to show compassion and fix it. Not everyone is willing to stick their fingers in the fire as Eldad is doing. It's easier to be an "armchair pontificator," as I secretly call them, than to skip a class and crawl through muck, risk being bitten, for an animal in need. Just ignore those troll comments. And send HFP a donation for their next cheeseburger!

Today I rescued my first dog: I was giving food to the 4 dogs that live in my "neighbors" house as I do every day because they never feed them as they told me they are not their dogs but the dogs of the real owner of the property who left them there. But moving on I was feeding them when I noticed a small dog laying on the middle of the road and I ran to see him and at first I thought she was dead, full of hits, scars, blood on her ears and I realized someone had left her there to die :( So I picked her up and gave her lots of water because she was so dehydrated she could not even stand up, then gave her food and love :). She is now safe, sleeping and tomorrow I'll take her to the vet to check her bruses (I dont know if I said that right) because she was injured by his previous owner :( . And you know what pisses me off? Is that she is barely 3 months old, she is a baby and for some stupid person to hit a small dog and then throw him in the middle of the street to die, you must be mentally ill and I hope you die in the most painful way possible. But I'm happy that this little dog will live a happy life now. Also, when I finish university and get a job I will continue to save lots of dogs! I feel bad that right now I can't save all the street dogs I see but I do my best in always giving them food and water. If you see a street dog, help him by at least feeding them, they will be forever grateful.

+Alejandro Sandoval Oh lovely. You have one of those assholes living next door to you too. They just may be the incompetent idiots that lived next door to me a few years back. They kept a female pit bull puppy on a leash that was tied to the backyard steps. One night I kept hearing barking...and more barking....and more barking…this started in the evening (9:00-ish?!) and went on into the wee hours of the morning.When my dad confronts someone from the house about the barks saying maybe the dog’s is trying to get someone’s attention, bitch had the nerve to say “Well that’s not my dog” Seriously??! You live in a house with the owner of the dog idiot you can’t just open the damn door?!!! They kept her outside in CONSECUTIVE TRIPLE digit heat where her only shade was underneath those steps she was tied to. My dad said enough of this and brought her over to get relief from the heat, water and makeshift dog food. (Never had pets after my birth) It gets worse however. The idiots decide to move, the U.S east coast earthquake hits and the owner of the house (they were renting) came to check for any damage. I’ll spare everyone with the disgusting deplorable story of how they left the insides of that house..... Somehow he gets to the basement and sees the dog…in a cage…surrounded by her urine soaked newspaper, excrements, and not even a drop of water in the bowl. She was there before and after the quake hit which was 3-5 days at least. They weren’t even suppose to have a pet in the first place the owner said. My neighbor across the street stepped up said he’d take her in. For me that was such a relief because I thought she was with them when they originally left. I speculate they were keeping her for dogfighting purposes because the reason to have the dog sure as hell wasn’t to get some TLC from man’s best friend. Finally, here’s the kicker..….the idiots actually had the nerve to return and get the dog after abandoning it for a week. My neighbor said like hell you’re going to get that dog back after what we saw in that house and where you left the dog. She never put up a fight. Good riddance.

My wife and I are senior citizens and have 3 "rescue" dogs, a Pekingese and two Shih-Tzu's. (Not our first either) They are our "kids." We have a small yard that is fenced in and perfect for them to run and play. The Pekingese and one Shih-Tzu are getting up there in years (12+) so, we worry and watch them pretty closely. The younger Shih-Tzu keeps the older ones on their paws. We've always been lucky with rescued pets but, I have never been happier with any pets than these three. I just wish I was the person they seem to think I am. I would advise everyone to adopt before buying. And, get an appropriate sized dog for your housing situation. Dogs need to walk, run and play!
@MidnightSonnet6 жыл бұрын
Trust me when I say that dogs know us better than we know ourselves. Heck, your little ones may know a side of you that you're unaware of. The lesson to be learned from that is that we're all deserving of unconditional love. It doesn't matter who we were in the past. Dogs see us for who we are now, in every moment. They know you care and love them, and that's all that really matters to them.

+SoldierOfRockets -TPF- I feel like the hardest part is not rescuing them but rehoming. I've rescued 5 dogs before ,2 from busy streets and 1 from a dumpster. I rehomed 3 of them... into my own home. I spent months looking for homes for them. Nothing. The other two I took to the no kill shelter I volunteered at. I personally took care and saw to everything in regards to these dogs before they were finally rehomed. I even was able to teach them some basic tricks in that time. The rescuing isn't hard but where do you put them?
@StrawberryCopper9 жыл бұрын
+Rachel C "Where do you put them?" That's the trick. There are too many dogs(and cats). We try to 'save them all'. But we just can't. Our hearts are big. But sometimes we must use our head instead. Shelters and rescues with limited funds spend $1000's of dollars on surgerys and treatment(heartworm, parvo). They then turn away other dogs for lack of space and money. No-kill shelters have some dogs that have been in cages for 10 years or more, and turn away adoptable dogs. Nothing will change as long as people continue to allow their dogs to breed recklessly, or backyard breeders continue to overbreed, or puppy mills keep supplying the pet stores. The answer has always been euthanasia--"Oh, that's heartless". Is it?? I can't afford to save them all. Can anyone?? I can't change the idiot scum that cause the overpopulation, they outnumber the rest of us.

Even if they reached their goals the vet bills are enormous even if they sometimes get reduced fees. PARTICIPATE!! God will love you even more.

A few years ago my family adopted an older dog from a rescue called Eleventh Hour. She was a rescue from Katrina and had actually survived being shot. Unsurprisingly she was afraid of loud noises and thunderstorms. If you accidentally dropped a book or something she would run off. But she was the sweetest, most wonderful dog I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I miss her to death and I like to think that the last few years of her life were filled with happiness and love.

I wish so much that I could have seen Dorothys rescue video a long time ago, when she was first rescued and in the few months afterward. Dorothy is quite a beauty and reminds me so much of my childhood dog Duke who was a Shepherd mix and my dog Kirby who was also a Shepherd mix. I would have given anything to have Dorothy for my own doggie and family! But alas this video is years old now but I hope so much that Dorothy got the loving family and home that she deserved!!!💔💔💘💘🐾🐾💘💘

@williingulfditlefsen6695 жыл бұрын
@@christiegross1453 No she did not. The grandma of my resent dog had a stroke, and you'll recognize it immidiately. They get wobly, problems lifting their heads and holding it steady. Big problems getting up, and when they do, they can't walk in a straight line for weeks, months.
@sortathesame87015 жыл бұрын
Christie Gross She could have had a TIA, which is very similar to a stroke, but usually has no long lasting effects once it is passed. Sometimes they are called mini strokes. They happen when a tiny piece of plaque breaks free and blocks blood flow in part of the brain. It can resolve by itself within minutes to 24 hours and generally once it is over leaves sign it occurred. Stokes can present with many different symptoms so it is always best to get medical care as soon as possible.
